Please recommend a facial SPF

I have just started to use Paula's choice Exfoliating liquid, I think I need to use facial SPF.
But where do I start? All the ones I use on holiday all feel very gloopy.
Do you wise ladies know of a less gloopy one?

I like Elizabeth Arden. It's light and just like a moisturiser.

Spf 15,30 or 50?

butterry · 11/04/2021 01:27

Clarins, it’s not sticky in the slightest and goes on beautifully. Have been using it over 10 years

Thank you farmer light sun essence. Not the cheapest but you hardly know it's on and it doesn't sting my super sensitive eyes which most do.

I love the Paula’s choice ones. There is a garnier one with hyaluronic acid that I’ve just got to try.

Aldi spf30 facial cream, lacura is the brand name. Really cheap and non greasy.

Australian Gold - mineral based, tinted - 50 spf. Dries down quickly (but doesn't dry your skin out) doesn't pill, layers nicely under makeup and it works.

Neostrata Sheer Physical Protection- I have worn it for years and love it under foundation and alone. I have v sensitive skin and it is the only spf that hasn't caused me to break out.

You should be wearing an spf50, that is in addition to any spf in your moisturiser or foundation.

@OldKingCole

La Roche Posay Anthelios - I use the untinted one every day under makeup. I have oily skin and this works fine for me. No whiteness, no gloopiness and it’s an SPF of 50.
Do you use moisturiser first? I ask because I always thought if I found the right sun screen for face and it's a moisturising type, that I can then just use that all year around, rather than do as was suggested to me, use a separate non spf moisturiser, and then put a sunscreen on top. Which for me would probably be too heavy. I have used one or two face sunscreens that were supposed to be very light and found them too much still, I have tried one of the Anthelious ones as far as I remember and can't remember being keen on it.
DidgeDoolittle · 11/04/2021 12:21

In the summer I just use an spf 50, no moisturiser. It would be too much. In the winter I would generally use a moisturiser as well, depending on how my skin is that day and what I'm doing.
If I'm going to wear primer and foundation on top I don't bother with a moisturiser as it would all slide off.

I have dry skin and tend to amp up the moisturising at night.

Lancaster SunnPerfect 50 spf skin illuminating fluid is amazing. Give you a soft glow and doesn't sting when you sweat into your eyes when running.

Thecazelets · 11/04/2021 12:46

I like Altruist, although have only tried the Factor 50. Family of red heads and blondes so we get through a lot year round. It is not very expensive and non-sticky/shiny under make up.

I have oily skin so I use Vichy anti blemish face sunscreen. I can't remember if it's spf30 or 50. I don't use a moisturiser with it.

Flambola · 11/04/2021 14:37

Heliocare Gel SPF 50. I splash my face with water in the morning, add my vitamin c serum and then the sunscreen. I’m oily so don’t need any additional moisture.

I love LRP moisturisers and cleansers but every single sunscreen I’ve tried of theirs has broken me out.

Would just like to add that this website has an enormous sale on LA Roche posay sunscreen products, more than 50% off. it's an Italian pharmacy. I don't know why it's so cheap, could mean it's all about to go off? I was willing to take a chance so I've ordered a whole pile of stuff. I think I'm going to get charged UK tax when it arrives because the checkout process was a bit weird and showed me the tax but then didn't charge it. Even so I will still save loads of money.
