I always admire the effortless way some of the women I have seen, walking around the streets of London in their white trainers and floaty dresses.

I am due to go to London (hopefully) in August and need a great pair of trainers that ideally are stylish and super comfy from the get go!

I would possibly need to add an insole depending on the trainer, as I’ve just had issues dealing with plantar fasciitis! Really don’t want to be putting up with that nonsense while trying to cram as much of London as I possibly can!

So, please tell me your go to trainers, the ones you know won’t let you down but that you feel good in too!

I do have a great lived in pair of Converse but fancy a change and really want to invest in a great pair of trainers that are going to stand the test of time!

And I really like the splash of gold.

I was going to say Stan Smiths, have recently bought 2 pairs, didnt realise I was so on trend!!!!! 🤣

Bearsbearsbears40 · 10/04/2021 14:13

I bought these from John Lewis and they are very comfy. They did rub a little but I find that a problem with a lot of shoes, plasters for a couple of days did the trick. www.johnlewis.com/john-lewis-partners-elma-rainbow-stripe-leather-trainers-white/p4221268?sku=238164088&size=3&s_ppc=2dx92700053879386487&tmad=c&tmcampid=2&gclid=Cj0KCQjwmcWDBhCOARIsALgJ2QfeGgI131bA4dhsiKSo6RErH2dXF8j7AyGIY-34eHi5tF2rM4JPoDkaAuGFEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds

I bought a pair of these last summer and loved them so much that I also got them in navy!

The side zip makes them a bit different and they're not as clumpy as a lot of sport trainers - more like a low cut leather sneaker.

The insoles, although comfortable, were removable so I swapped them for a pair or Pro 11 ones

Honestly, I can walk miles in them!

Ilikewinter · 10/04/2021 14:16

Yep love them! Have a look on the Adidas website, I signed up and got an instant 10% off code, that was at xmas though so may have been a special offer....plus mine were cheaper on their website than in JD.

Londontown12 · 10/04/2021 14:29

KatChocolate · 10/04/2021 14:29

I do love the rainbow stripes on your trainers @Bearsbearsbears40 they are lovely!

@LlamaDrama20 they look great! I’d love to see a model wearing them just so I know what they’re like. Sometimes it hard to judge.

@Ilikewinter thank you! I’ll take a look on the Adidas site!

@Hairobsessed123 that’s good to know!

Wonder if others just haven’t given them time to bed in? Did yours take long or were they good from the off?

@KatChocolate
Good to go straight away !
I’m always in the city and I have worn them all day for like 4 days of going around everywhere also what is good are heel grips that can soften the and support the heel !
I love my I have 2 pairs in the white and black and the go with everything!! X

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 10/04/2021 14:36

Oooh, I’m liking the look of those Mexican ones, whoever posted that!

Orchidflower1 · 10/04/2021 14:37

I love the Stan smiths.

On a variation on the theme what trainer socks does everyone wear? I’m struggling to find the good combination of not sliding underfoot ( primark) and not being too tall( next).

Or am I just being daft and should I just show the sock?!

Soontobe60 · 10/04/2021 14:37

If you’re planning on walking in London in summer I suggest not buying white, they will be filthy within hours! I wear New Balance and have several pairs in different colours. My black and gold ones are currently on my feet with “mom” jeans.

I find that I need proper trainer socks with heel padding or else they just fall down! I get them from Decathlon
Camdenish · 10/04/2021 14:42

I promise I don’t work for New Balance...Their “thing” is that a properly fitted pair of their trainers will be comfortable straight from the box, no bedding in needed. I’ve bought from them for years and it’s certainly been my experience.

I don’t hate Veja’s as such, I suppose I wouldn’t have tried them on. I’m not sold on them though. They seem to be saying something and I don’t wan my shoes to speak fir me and if I did I’m not sure I any to be associated with the Veja crowd. They’re supposed to be ethical. Get a pair of made in the UK NB and support a local community. Or just the Stan Smiths as that’s probably more what you’re after.

PresentingPercy · 10/04/2021 14:43

Trainer socks - big problem! I wear slightly higher very lightweight ones from
M&S. Mostly they won’t stay in place. I have two pairs of the M&S white trainers. Leather and they wear well. I like a slightly chunkier look. They are very comfortable and you really can wear them all day.

For variations - look at Geox. Really well made and I have all sorts from them but their summer styles are great - especially in suede.

Camdenish · 10/04/2021 14:45

You could go for gold SS but you n my humble opinion they’ve got to be green!

Wear whatever socks you like but own them. Argyle, tennis, glitter, whatever. I’m not one for pretending your socks aren’t there although I realise that’s a legitimate look. It’s wrong but legitimate. Poor socks. Won’t someone think of the socks?

HelenHywater · 10/04/2021 14:46

I find the Veja's really comfortable, but can't wear Stan Smiths at all - the instep is just wrong for me.

MozzchopsThirty · 10/04/2021 14:55

I have just bought these to go with skirts & dresses over the summer

Kurt Geiger also have some lovely trainers, I bought snake print ones in the sale which I wear all the time

You can have a look here also. It's amazing the reservoir of knowledge about white trainers that exists here. It doesn't even seem possible!

But I still think you should get measured and sorted out for PF at the same time. They’ll likely have a shoe that does the biz for you rather than having to wear an insole.

If you really want a no-show trainer sock these are the chaps to get. So comfy and stay put.

Verite1 · 10/04/2021 17:55

Stan smiths all the way!

Faffandahalf · 10/04/2021 18:01

I have two pairs of Veja v10’s
They are very comfortable. I’m also not a sheep! But I did buy them in unique colour ways.
One is a grey/pink/beige suede combo
And the other white leather with bright pink and burgundy. I don’t like the ubiquitous black and white ones.
Love them both. The tongue is long but I just move it to the side. I have wide feet with bunions and they are honestly comfortable!

I also have Stan Smiths. Solid trainers. Also v comfy.

MattyGroves · 10/04/2021 19:06

Am pondering all birds sneakers but not sure

Fcuk38 · 10/04/2021 19:16

I’ve just brought these for summer to wear with dresses. They are honestly the most comfy things I’ve ever put on my feet.
