If you had a £500 budget for a piece of jewellery what would you buy?

Not sure if this is the best place to post but thought I'd give it a go! (I realise this is very very shallow)

As title suggests, if someone where to spend a few hundred quid on a nice piece of jewellery for you what would you buy?

I've got a big birthday coming up and this is what my parents want to get me but I have no ideas!

Ooh I would go for a piece of Shiela Fleet jewellery. Gorgeous pieces

Solitaire diamond earrings. Late-DH was going to get me some for my birthday, but he was too ill at the time and we never got round to it.
Although I haven't worn earrings in so long my piercings have healed up, and I have no idea how much they'd cost anyway.

There is a lady who makes silver jewelry in the next village who advertises on Facebook, and I always think her pieces look nice.

Ted27 · 08/04/2021 21:19

what jewellery do you normally wear?

I don’t see the point of jewellery that isnt worn so as I wear earrings every day, I would probably go for very simple diamond stud earrings, or possibly something with a small drop.

Very nice present, enjoy choosing

Ninkanink · 08/04/2021 21:25

Something from Georg Jensen.

Or something from Monica Vinader (probably a few rings) if I wanted my money to go further.

Or a vintage cocktail ring with a whacking big stone.

violetmonster · 08/04/2021 21:28

@doodlejump1980 oh wow some of her pieces are absolutely beautiful!!

@Chasingsquirrels I'm so sorry to hear about your late husband, that sounds like it would've been a lovely present

@Ted27 I think that's part of my dilemma, do I go for something for everyday or something to keep for "good"

I have a silver necklace I wear everyday which I adore, under £100 so I could "upgrade" it with this present or go for something different. I don't usually wear earrings everyday but do wear them often, same with a few rings & a bracelet I have but all that I'd be happy to upgrade!

There are some beautiful pieces on there, I don't know how you'd just choose one!
doodlejump1980 · 08/04/2021 21:43

@Chasingsquirrels I’m slowly building my collection over significant events (big birthdays/engagement and wedding). I’ve got some of the flagstone design and the primula scotica range too. Made in Orkney using Scottish gold. Stunning pieces :)
Not on commission I promise!

bendmeoverbackwards · 08/04/2021 21:43

OP how about a bangle? As mentioned above Georg Jensen has some lovely pieces

violetmonster · 08/04/2021 21:45

@Ninkanink both have beautiful pieces wow!

@Chasingsquirrels is absolutely right there's almost too much choice @doodlejump1980 (also I'm Scottish so even better)

This is expensive for silver but stunning

Lab grown diamonds are half the price of natural diamonds so you can get a bit bigger on a budget

MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously · 08/04/2021 22:37

Have a look at Notonthehighstreet. They have some lovely jewellery

quarentini · 08/04/2021 23:03

I want a Lisa Eldridge ring

windmill26 · 08/04/2021 23:06

Something from Tiffany or Hermes

Zancah · 08/04/2021 23:06

I'd get something preowned off eBay or Etsy. £500 will get you nothing of any substance if you're looking at new. New gold/diamond prices are just bonkers.

mylipsarechapman · 08/04/2021 23:32

A pair of earrings from Shaun Leane

Watching with interest. I have a big birthday coming up.

I was thinking of getting diamond studs from the US but are studs ageing? They don't seem very fashionable at the moment.

Ninkanink · 08/04/2021 23:46

They may not be fashionable but they’re definitely classic and timeless. That’s good enough for me!

Graffitiqueen · 08/04/2021 23:52

Something from georg Jensen for me too.

CookieDoughKid · 08/04/2021 23:56

Lab diamonds half eternity ring. 18k gold, 5 diamond cushion set ring totalling 1 carat.

bubblebubblebubbletrouble · 08/04/2021 23:59

I would buy infinity earrings/bracelet from Tiffany - not super classy but I adore my necklace that I got in NY for my 40th & I like matchy matchy....
Otherwise I would buy a watch because I wear one everyday & if I was going to spend that much one a single item I would want a lot of wear out of it

AlwaysLatte · 09/04/2021 00:01

Something old and lovely from an antique Jeweller.

Salanda · 09/04/2021 08:09

I’d go to an antique market and get something - £500 would get you quite far for antique! Somewhere like Gray’s Antiques. Or look online.

PurBal · 09/04/2021 08:19

I bought a big birthday present for myself from Astley Clarke.
