Shoot me I nearly ordered Hotter shoes!

Disclaimer I suffer from painful feet.

I was browsing Hotter Shoes for my mother (wide foot and old Wink) and discovered that Hotter don't just sell wide shoes but they sell standard and narrow fit as well.

So looking through I found a pair of trainers that look lovely and I imagine would be so comfy and am considering ordering. The thing is they have a zip fir easy access Confused and I'm not sure I'm ready at 51 to wear easy access trainers even if they are comfortable.

So any suggestions for alternative summery comfortable trainers to wear with jeans etc? Please don't suggest Converse as they kill my feet.

Well what do they look like? Maybe they are fine? I have very fussy feet and like pozu and crime London and Nike air force for comfort and style.....I see Birkenstock also do a plain trainer...

coodawoodashooda · 08/04/2021 10:17

Omg. I nearly did this too. I absolutely hate buying shoes.

QwertyGirly · 08/04/2021 10:19

Which ones? Wink I'm tempted...

Lavendersquare · 08/04/2021 10:31

@hettie @QwertyGirly

These ones, they're also reduced in the sale.

I don't mind those at all (am 38 if that matters!)

TheWaif · 08/04/2021 10:40

"89 people are looking at these right now" haha!

I think they're fine and noone would know where they came from.

Bagelsandbrie · 08/04/2021 10:41

Well I’m 40 and I’d wear those.

Office have some hideous new trainers in stock which remind me of something I’d wear aged 11 - they have Velcro! So anything goes I think.

Babyiskickingmyribs · 08/04/2021 10:42

I’d wear those and I’m early 30s. I think they are totally safe and perfectly acceptable style wise. No one will ask if you’ve borrowed your elderly mums shoes. Life is far too short to put up with sore feet.

Bagelsandbrie · 08/04/2021 10:43

Oh link doesn’t work but they’re Adidas Forum Plus.

LegendDairy · 08/04/2021 10:43

They don't look like the typical hotter shoes. Just don't let anyone read the soles and don't tell anyone.

ShirleyPhallus · 08/04/2021 10:44

Tbh I find the snobbery on MN about shoes pretty interesting (and I am one of the worst offenders for shouting “oh good lord no those are hideous”), because as soon as anyone asks for trainer recommendations it’s either converse, Sam smiths or supergas on here but even then they atttsct lots of “those are classic mummy shoes and just not stylish”.

What this leads me to believe is that no one wants to say what shoes ARE stylish so if you want comfortable ones, you may as well embrace the ug and just be comfy. Those won’t win any style awards but are also far less awful than I thought they’d be.

So go for it, no one will really notice or care I don’t think

shoofly · 08/04/2021 10:44

I'd have bought those, if they'd had my size Grin

karala · 08/04/2021 10:45

My friend and I have promised to stage interventions if either of us are attracted by the lure of a Hotter shoe. I saw a flowery plimsole a few years ago and had to be talked down.

Twinkie01 · 08/04/2021 10:45

Air and Grace. They're not cheap but have a lovely memory foam sole.

MonkeyNotOrgangrinder · 08/04/2021 10:47

I had hotter shoes for work, they were so comfy and lasted years of heavy use. Obviously they looked like shit, but 🤷‍♀️

mynameiscalypso · 08/04/2021 10:49

I was all ready to be appalled by them but they're actually fine. Do you think lockdown has finally got to us all?

anxiouswaiting · 08/04/2021 10:49

I am 33 and have some Hotter shoes. Gorgeous walking shoes, so comfy, like waking on air!

I don't need any new every day shoes at the moment but when I do I would buy from Hotters. If they are comfy and you find a style you like then go for it.

I probably wouldn't buy shoes for an evening out there but everyday shoes I really don't think their range is too bad!

AdaThorne · 08/04/2021 10:50

If you're wearing them with jeans or longish trousers I'm not sure the zip is immediately obvious. I'd go for it. But I'm 42 and my favourite pair of sandals are a Hotter pair that I bought from a different shop without realising the massive MN faux pas I was making!

That said, if you've not tried them Skechers memory foam are lovely too.

JaneJeffer · 08/04/2021 10:50

I think they're fine and noone would know where they came from.
I bought a pair of their runners last summer because they were on offer and I thought nobody would notice and they would be comfortable.

As soon as I put them on DS1 was horrified and said that's what they wear in old people's homes. Anyway I wore them to the supermarket and they cut my heels to shreds!

Vickles20 · 08/04/2021 10:52

Haha. Love it.
Well, both my teen daughters wear Hotter black laced pumps to their senior school which is a 3 mile walk each day. Love them. I even own a pair of their knee high boots and ankle boots.

Happycow · 08/04/2021 10:58

Ive just bought a pair! Im 38.... leather-lined shoes for £29 and i actually like them 😳

ExConstance · 08/04/2021 11:00

I'm sure they are popular with dog owners as y;ou sometimes need to get out of the house quickly and dogs can get overexcited waiting fo ryou to lace up your trainers. I hate Hotter, but they are OK. The only problems is that Hotter ads will chase you through the internet for at least a year.

LittleBearPad · 08/04/2021 11:01

They’re all right

Lol at 353 people looking right now. Their KPIs will be completely buggered.

ProbablyLate · 08/04/2021 11:02

I was desperate to have a pair of super comfortable hotter sandals to get married in, but my bridesmaid said I needed something “less orthopaedic” Hmm / didn’t look like I could go on a summer hike in them and a pair of zip off shorts. I’m 25.

timegoesbysoslowly · 08/04/2021 11:08

I have a pair off hotter trainers and boots and they are the most comfortable shoes I've ever had.

Stop worrying what everyone thinks, just wear what makes you feel comfortable. If you want to suffer for fashion, then that's on you
