Urgent hair advice - so boring!!

I need you guys to style my hair. I've attached pics of its usual every day state. It's in quite good condition, very thick & long. I'm suffering the dreaded post partum growth so I have quire short baby hair around allllll my hairline. What do you guys advise? I'm not the kind of person who spends an hour styling in the morning so nothing that would require that. Happy to dye/cut. Professionally obviously. Thanks!

Honestly I think it's gorgeous as it is!

DriftGames · 02/04/2021 09:36

@Girlintheframe oh thank you! I find it terribly boring, I'm 26 (in a few weeks) and feel like it should probably be a bit more styled but maybe it's one of those cases where you think you have shit hair but others think it's nice? I often look at my colleagues hair who loathes hers and think it's lovely.

Looks beautiful colour and condition! I'd probably just get a couple of inches cut off the bottom and maybe a few long layers. That way you can style it or just put it up. If you're happy to style a fringe every morning that would disguise the baby hairs but it would need doing every day and I bet noone notices them as much as you do!

DriftGames · 02/04/2021 16:55

@Tryingtogetitright thank you! Yes definitely needs at least a few inches chopping off - I've done 5 lockdown cuts myself but it just grows back so fast! I do fancy a fringe but not sure my face shape would match, I have quite a round face!

Its lovely.
I would just trim the length to keep on top of any split ends and experiment with some new hair accessories and styles. There's so much you can do to change the way you wear long hair if you become bored of it.

DriftGames · 03/04/2021 19:24

@FindingMeno thank you! Do you have any examples of accessories or styles which may suit?

brushlaptop · 03/04/2021 19:40

It's amazing! Maybe a little trim but I would say generally don't touch it! You don't need accessories with that barnet 💁

DriftGames · 03/04/2021 19:48

@brushlaptop haha thank you! Maybe if I just make more of an effort to brush, straighten/curl it regularly to keep it looking sleek I'll see it in a better light. It's so long and thick that after 30 mins of running after a toddler or getting her to the childminders and to work, it looks like I've been dragged through a bush!

A middle parting would be more modern, a couple of inches off and some (very) long layers. Otherwise I would just suggest enjoying having such gorgeous hair!

WiseOwlOne · 03/04/2021 20:00

Agree, middle parting and 5 inches off the end so it's less weighed down

HoldontoOneMoreDay · 03/04/2021 20:05

Indeed, you are definitely young enough for the much-discussed centre parting, I'd give that a whirl.

Allabouttheangles · 04/04/2021 01:55

A few inches off, middle parting and long layers, potentially even a curtain fringe. Just for some shape.

DriftGames · 04/04/2021 16:16

I always think I look odd with a centre parting but that's probably because I've had it in a side parting for as long as I remember! May have a play when I dry it after a wash this evening. Hadn't even thought about layers!! God I'm out of touch. I'm not a very girly girl so don't keep up with trends much - oops.

OP posts:
DriftGames · 04/04/2021 19:46

So it's been washed and drying naturally for about 40 mins. I've done a centre parting but not brushed it so it's a little wavy and 'textured', we'll say.

Thoughts?

Love it!

Psychonabike · 04/04/2021 22:28

Looks good.

dancemom · 04/04/2021 22:45

Lose some of the length and maybe learn to do waves or curls to have some variety?

seensome · 04/04/2021 22:55

Don't cut it, it would look ordinary
Looks fab

elsaesmeralda · 04/04/2021 22:58

Middle part looks great and more modern. And I wouldn't cut it I'd kill for long hair like yours !

MrsMaizel · 05/04/2021 01:28

I would get it cut as it's that length where it's a bit Amish looking . I would say a 1/3 of the length and that last style will hold beautifully.

DriftGames · 05/04/2021 07:13

It definitely needs a trim at the least so as soon as I can get booked in, that'll be arranged! Think I'll trial the centre parting today and see how we get on then. I can do curls/waves, it's usually just dead straight because once I straighten it it'll generally stay straight until I need to wash again - I'm so lazy 😂

Moomoolandmoomooland · 05/04/2021 07:17

It does look lovely, but having been there with long hair and two young children, from a practical point of view, I would cut a load of it off. Otherwise you will spend the next four years of your life with the "messy mum bun". Which is what I did.

DriftGames · 05/04/2021 09:07

Okay, centre parting, curled. What do we think??

lovely hair. I'd get a trim as the ends look a tiny bit frayed but not much else. Please don't ruin it with dye. The centre parting looks great! I am envious 😃

fightingSmiths · 05/04/2021 09:23

... and I prefer it dried naturally without having it straightened.
