I need some trainers that I can wear with skirts as it starts to warm up. I'll also wear with jeans rolled up. Which trainers will you be wearing this spring?

I'm actually considering white converse. I am small and have wideish feet, other trainers look clumpy on me.. Following to see ideas.

Thisismynewname123 · 29/03/2021 11:08

@HeyGirlHeyBoy I have some old white converse, but I don't find them very comfortable to walk in for any length of time. My feet are very narrow.

I have Adidas Stan Smiths and Continental 80s in various colours, including white. I wear them with dresses and bare legs in summer, jeans, cords, and culottes in the winter - I wear the black pairs with opaque tights and skirts too.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 29/03/2021 11:09

OK.. I am also going to get a pair of birkenstock as I think I prefer that look anyway tho I know not as useful if weather not playing ball. A friend has white canvas supergas which are nice and another has white vejas.

Cocolapew · 29/03/2021 11:10

Stan Smiths and Rod Lavers.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 29/03/2021 11:11

I like those continental 80s in black Judy, thanks.

Nuitsdesetoiles · 29/03/2021 11:11

Following as I need to invest in some white trainers for the same reason. Agree re converse not V comfy for long periods.

lurker101 · 29/03/2021 11:12

I like Superga for summer and find mine very comfortable for walking.

ThatOtherPoster · 29/03/2021 11:13

I have some lovely leather Dune ones with rose-gold stars on. I know they’re no doubt 3,000 years out of fashion but they’re really pretty and go with everything.

Or some equally dated Superstars with silver glittery stripes, from eBay.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 29/03/2021 11:13

Don't know how far I would be waking in jeans or dresses tbh but have never had a problem with converse myself.

Ninkanink · 29/03/2021 11:13

I think I’m going to go for Veja this year.

Thisismynewname123 · 29/03/2021 11:23

I don't really want to spend the money on Veja ones.
Stan Smiths are an option (which I may get anyway to cross seasons).
I have some old rose gold Superga which have creased at the top and rub the top of my toes now. But I think white canvas ones will be ok because they'll have more give (and looking at skirts online, they often style spring skirts with white canvas Supergas).

Yes canvas trainers are great. If you don’t find them comfortable for walking (many aren’t as the soles aren’t great) you can always get some insoles to help.

Maxellious · 29/03/2021 11:29

Also following. I have Stan smiths but don't like them with skirts because they're so clumpy. I have very small feet and the width of ss, along with the rounded toe makes them look so wide. They're passable with jeans though.

I have some great colourful Golas with a 70s vibe and black Nike Internationalists, but white trainers seem to be a recurring issue every spring/summer

SaintReatham · 29/03/2021 11:31

Are Air & Grace trainers as comfy as the website makes out? I'm loathe to spend £165 on a pair of trainers but if they're as cloud-like as they say...

Kimye4eva · 29/03/2021 11:32

I got some leather Keds last year. Super comfortable.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 29/03/2021 11:40

You're the same as me Maxellious. I like the gola idea. A similar look I saw last year was royal blue Adidas (cloud maybe) with a green dress with a blue fleck. Granted the wearer was modelesque but it looked fab.

SplendidSuns1000 · 29/03/2021 11:42

I hate Converse but tried some Aldi knockoff converse when in need of shoes on a long trip and I love them, much comfier than the branded pairs.

I think John Lewis have some low tops similar to Vejas, I've got a pair from last year that are super comfy.

@SaintReatham Air & Grace shoes are lovely but definitely not worth the price. John Lewis have great comfy dupes, Hush in particular.

I have some white Adidas that are slimmer than Stan Smith. They were advised on here but I can't remember the name. Very comfy. I have superga and converse but I agree are uncomfortable as no cushioning.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 29/03/2021 11:46

Hush are incredibly comfy.

user1471530109 · 29/03/2021 11:49

Adidas sleek...

Ninkanink · 29/03/2021 11:50

I do like the Adidas gazelle as well.

ElspethFlashman · 29/03/2021 11:53

Stan Smiths but then I'm 5'7 so they're not too big on me.

I mainly like them because they're super comfy and quite warm.

If I was petite or willowy I'd probably be getting some Kate Middleton type of ones though which are more slim tennis shoes. Pretty sure they're Supergas.

goingtosaygoodbye · 29/03/2021 11:54

I really like adidas ar trainer, would actually love to get another pair.... Hmmoff shopping...

ElspethFlashman · 29/03/2021 11:55

BTW with Adidas you can customise them on the website, I've done that before and it's pretty cool.
