Recommend me a mascara that doesn't smudge under my eyes

It may be the way I put mascara on or it may be my eye shape but whenever I put mascara on (and I'm 47 so been wearing it a long time!) it looks great but by the time I leave the house, maybe sneezed a couple of times, been outside in the wind, blinked etc by the time I get to work I've smudges under my eyes. I've had this problem
As long as I can remember. I feel
Like I spend all day wiping under my eyes.

My eyes are quite deep set with hooded eyelids which I don't think helps.

Using a Mabelline one at the minute but it's really "wet" and literally all over the top of my cheeks where I've blinked before I've left the bedroom.

Any tips ? Can I get a mascara that is more "dry"? I don't want to stop using it 😫

£29 for the hourglass mascara Shock I use the No. 7 tubing one and it is good, no smudges, and less than half the price!

Another vote for tubing mascara. I use DHC which I believe was the original tubing mascara. You can buy it direct from the brand on eBay.

Exactly the same challenges here, hooded deep set eyes. Estée Lauder doublewear doesn’t budge and also Kevin acoin tubing mascara although I found the bottle dried out. Waterproof ones as a rule are rubbish.

Jetsthebestgladiator · 30/03/2021 00:09

Love Estée Lauder Doublewear

nomorecrumbs · 30/03/2021 00:21

I can only wear waterproof mascara, I’m guessing my eyes’ natural lubrication makes any non-waterproof mascara smudge. Haven’t found a good one yet, whereas waterproof works for me every time.

Jetsthebestgladiator · 30/03/2021 03:30

@nomorecrumbs have you tried tubing mascaras? Waterproof may indeed be best for you but I found even waterproof would smudge and is a pain to get off. Tubing has changed my face. I’m no longer a panda! Grin

Another vote for... CLINIQUE LASH POWER Grin

Nonameslob · 30/03/2021 05:18

Agree clinique tubing mascara. I recently ordered a few bits off iconic and got a free mascara which I thought I'd end up giving away but I think it's going to replace my clinique one. It goes on really nicely, not drying or spidery looking. No smudging or flaking. I even rubbed my eyes forgetting I had it on as I've hardly been wearing makeup as working from home for the last year and it didn't budge!

I dye my eyelashes with dyelure lash dye. It's actually no different to putting on mascara in its application and it lasts for weeks! I top it up every two or three weeks to get any lashes I missed. It looks like you are wearing mascara every day.

MonkeysandParrots · 30/03/2021 11:33

Another vote here for Kevyn Aucoin mascaras. I find ‘the volume’ works really well, doesn’t smudge, isn’t over done etc. It is a tubing mascara but feels easier to remove than some of the others I’ve tried (and recommended up thread!).

Jetsthebestgladiator · 30/03/2021 14:15

The only problem with tubing mascara is the lack of volume you get. I use doublewear lash primer first and that makes a big difference

TulipFields · 30/03/2021 14:23

I found my old mascara and liquid liner ran terribly with a face mask on. It smudged upwards as well as downwards and u looked ridiculous, so I've bought Eyeko lash alert (tubing) and eyeko sport waterproof with a waterproof liner and both seem fine.

LouiseBelchersBunnyEars · 30/03/2021 14:25

I have no idea, but if you find the answer let me know, I have the exact same issue.

Tanfastic · 02/04/2021 13:39

Quick update! I bought the Clinique one (got it cheaper on EBay). Tried it today and not one single smudge yet! Very impressed so far ...thanks all Grin

No.7 do a tubing mascara, I can't remember the name. Sali Hughes did aGuardian column recommending them, I'd not heard of them before that.

salty78 · 02/04/2021 19:01

Mac extended play mascara is tuning. It also seems to curl & thicken my lashes just enough and doesn't smudge even if my eyes are watering.

salty78 · 02/04/2021 19:01

*tubing
