Recommend me a mascara that doesn't smudge under my eyes

It may be the way I put mascara on or it may be my eye shape but whenever I put mascara on (and I'm 47 so been wearing it a long time!) it looks great but by the time I leave the house, maybe sneezed a couple of times, been outside in the wind, blinked etc by the time I get to work I've smudges under my eyes. I've had this problem
As long as I can remember. I feel
Like I spend all day wiping under my eyes.

My eyes are quite deep set with hooded eyelids which I don't think helps.

Using a Mabelline one at the minute but it's really "wet" and literally all over the top of my cheeks where I've blinked before I've left the bedroom.

Any tips ? Can I get a mascara that is more "dry"? I don't want to stop using it 😫

I had to stop putting it on my lower lashes.

I actually don't put it on my lower lashes anyway but it still ends up on my cheeks 😂

Try the semi permanent mascara ? You can buy online, I put it on just like mascara with a little wand leave for 10 minutes then remove, just be careful taking it off that you don't get it in your eye ! It lasts about 6 weeks. I've used it for years and can now confidently apply it as liner as well.

Tanfastic · 28/03/2021 09:21

Does it lengthen too?

Tubing mascaras. They form little tubes round the lashes and don't smudge at all but come off really easily with warm water. The Hourglass one is amazing.

PandaFluff · 28/03/2021 09:22

Have you tried a tubing mascara? I find they don't smudge on me. There's a clinique one but I can't remember the name.

Fargonauts · 28/03/2021 09:22

I use the julienne kit.

Tanfastic · 28/03/2021 09:23

Can someone link to a tubing mascara? Neve heard of it!

I had the same problem and now use the Hourglass unlocked one. Problem solved!

PandaFluff · 28/03/2021 09:26

Found it - it's called Clinique Lash Power. And it comes off with warm water at the end of the day but doesn't smudge.

Fellow hooded-eyed person here. ‘Tubing’ mascara is your friend, completely smudge proof and washes off really easily. I use Trish McEvoy but Boots Stay Perfect range isn’t bad.

Workinghardeveryday · 28/03/2021 09:26

I used to have this problem!

You need to ‘set’ the skin just under your lower lashes - basically where the smudges appear. When I have done all my make up I get a cotton bud and put some eye setting powder on it and gently wipe where it would smudge.

No more panda eyes!! Added perk the one I use seems to blur lines and wrinkles and brightens the area!! I use the Becca under eye brightening setting powder. It’s ace!!

I tried a similar technique with powder but at my age I couldn't get away with that for long, will try this thanks.

The only one that doesn't melt under my eyes is the L'Oréal Paradise one. I buy 3 tubes at once when it's on a 3 for 2. Its not particularly wet and dries up in 2-3 months, which is the drawback. But I keep going back to it because its so reliable.

Alternatively a good tubing mascara is the No7 one in the gold tube. I wore that a lot and by god it doesn't come off even in an apocalypse but it was a pain having to take it off with warm water and it occasionally can look a bit spidery if you try to build it up. So I went off it for everyday wear. If I had a long day event like a wedding though I'd definitely buy it just for the staying power!

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 28/03/2021 10:04

Estée Lauder double wear zero smudge lengthening mascara never smudges on me but comes off really easily with any cleanser.

AmandaHoldensLips · 28/03/2021 20:11

I am amazed by these tips.

MabelMoo23 · 28/03/2021 20:36

Another hooded eyes person here. You need the Hourglass tubing one - it’s superb. Spendy but worth it. Think it’s called unlocked extensions and it’s fab

Tanfastic · 28/03/2021 22:41

Thanks all, these are fab, I'm going to order one of your recommendations and see how I get in Smile

Clinique Lash Power is excellent - v natural look and no smudging. Hard to take off, though.
