Smart trousers with comfortable / elasticated waistband - do they even exist??

I'm early 50s, and thanks to the wonderful menopause have started to suffer with frequent bloating. This means that by the end of a day in work clothes, I'm desperate to change into something more comfort
able! To save me many fruitless hours of searching, has anyone out there found some plain black trousers which would reduce my suffering? I know they're out there! Thanks in advance...

Get trousers with a paperbag waist if they suit you. Really comfy

ScarfaceCwaw · 21/03/2021 22:37

Aday. They have a lot of smart trousers with elastic built in. thisisaday.com

I have some trousers I wear for work from Matalan that are very flattering, a bit of stretch in them, flat fronted with side pockets and an invisible elastic aged waistband at the back.
They’re not old lady pants, more like ankle grazers. Don’t know if they still have them in though!

What size are you? Evans do elasticated waist smart trousers too.

RaininSummer · 21/03/2021 22:41

Great question OP. Just looked at the Aday site. Don't think I will be spending well over 100 pounds on work trousers!

rosebud5678 · 21/03/2021 22:54

Thanks everyone for your suggestions so far - had to look up paperbag waist! I am sadly lacking any defined figure so don't think they are the answer unfortunately. Matalan look interesting - never thought to look there. I am an average size 12-14 but may look in Evans too - good idea!

Robell trousers would be worth a look. Lots of styles, elasticated waists, and slight stretch in the fabric. One style...

Robell trousers are great.

dudsville · 22/03/2021 14:59

I have a few pairs from COS that have a small segment of elastic at the back waist. They're cotton and soo comfortable. I have a few as I get them on sale - they get as low as £20ish!

I came on to recommend these in full length but they’re sold out. They still have the cropped version. Very comfy and smart www.hobbs.com/product/pippa-jersey-crop-trousers/0220-8015-1185L00-BLACK.html#cgid=clothing-trousers&is=false&sz=60&start=0&isSecondPage=false&prefn1=trouserStyle&prefv1=Wide&pid=0220-8015-1185L00-BLACK&pos=4

lunalucie · 22/03/2021 22:00

I can recommend these from M&S. Really comfortable and flattering, I've got them in every colour for work.

Mumof1andacat · 22/03/2021 22:05

Simply be are worth a look

KatharinaRosalie · 22/03/2021 22:07

Here, they look like suit trousers but are comfy like yoga pants www.betabrand.com/

OppositeFeature · 23/03/2021 07:00

Uniqlo has some great stretch waist smart trousers -
www.uniqlo.com/uk/en/product/women-smart-stretch-ankle-length-trousers-429128.html?dwvar_429128_color=COL09&dwvar_429128_size=SMA001&cgid=IDtrousers1391&hassubcat=false

They used to have a more visible elasticated waist at the back but apparently the new design hides it (haven't seen those yet). These were my go-to before I had to switch to WFH. Worth a try if you are able!

Midlifemission · 24/03/2021 20:58

I've got these, wear them for work, really flattering and comfy and wash lovely.
