A boring one about old lady knickers

Ghostlyglow · 17/03/2021 13:06

My skin is getting more delicate as I get older and my m&s bikinis are chafing around the top of my legs and bum. I need to get new ones Any recommendations for soft leg knickers welcomeSmile

Same problem and recommend M&S cotton Lycra lace knickers

Very comfy and no chafing. Come up quite big though.

Bananaman123 · 17/03/2021 19:34

Sloggi or jockey, or if you can i port i love Hanes from USA

partyatthepalace · 17/03/2021 20:29

Sloggi

bellagogosdead · 17/03/2021 20:34

M&S I am constantly recommending these, but really they are so comfy and soft.

SirVixofVixHall · 17/03/2021 20:41

The M&S ones suggested by bellagogosdead are the ones I wear to sleep in as they are so soft and comfortable. They also come in a full shape.

Annebronte · 17/03/2021 22:29

Chantelle stretchy knickers are super comfy.

StarlightLady · 18/03/2021 06:31

You don’t have to go “old lady” if you don’t wish to.

M&S Brazillians have soft lace instead of elastic round the top of the legs and bum. They are comfort on speed and come in a decent rangeof colours and patterns.

gretagreengrapes · 18/03/2021 06:41

I am in my twenties (so not an "old lady problem") and slim and have a problem with the leg holes on all m&s pants chafing. It's their design and I'd just stay away from any pants from there now!

Honeywort · 18/03/2021 06:45

I’ve moved onto John Lewis undies - seem much more like what M&S used to be

Ghostlyglow · 18/03/2021 07:49

Thanks for the replies. @bellagogosdead I was looking at those earlier so might give them a try
@Honeywort I never think of John Lewis, I'll have a browse, thanks.

BAM (Bamboo Clothing) have some seamless knickers and seamless shorts (i.e. like briefs) and they are the best underwear ever! Like light fluffy stretchy clouds of joy. The fabric is nice and breathable too so it doesn't get all sweaty like some underwear can. My only complaint is that they only come in black or oyster - a bit of a colour pop range would be nice. But seriously - it FEELS so good.

HostessTrolley · 18/03/2021 13:56

I find these to be soft and comfy basic everyday knickers. The ‘blush’ is more beige than pink though

SirVixofVixHall · 18/03/2021 14:08

Fluffy clouds of joy sound good !
I bought someone those for Christmas but didn’t get myself any - will go and look now.

slooowdaysinlockdown · 18/03/2021 20:13

M and s high legs instead of bikinis

buckleten · 18/03/2021 20:24

M&S midi orshorts with lycra in are soft and stretchy, I find the ones which are 100% cotton are a bit stiff and chafing.

FinallyHere · 18/03/2021 20:32

So glad to have found this thread, I had thought it was just me. I have moved on from M&S 100% cotton to their polyester/Lycra full briefs. Significantly less stretchy than the cotton with slightly lacy edging.

The quality isn't great, though. I've only worn them for a year (lockdown , comfort seemed the least I could do for myself) and the edging has pulled away from the material on a couple of them.

Thank you for the suggestions, I shall explore.

kirkandpetal · 18/03/2021 22:55

Uniqlo High Rise Briefs - game changer. So comfy and retain their stretch after hundreds of washes. Not the most exciting range but I don't expect to show them off to anyone so I'm good with that! I get the ones with lace trim at the top and round legs.

Honestly, they are amazing.

SirVixofVixHall · 19/03/2021 09:46

kirk what is the sizing like for the Uniqlo pants ?

SavingsQuestions · 19/03/2021 09:48

I am large and want full briefs. I don't like lacy edging though which the M and S ones seem to have.

Sainsburys often has some pretty full briefs but haven't looked recently.

SirVixofVixHall · 19/03/2021 09:56

I would like to wear the Sloggi full briefs for walking etc, but they are so tiny at the leg holes. Even in years gone by when I was a size 6 they used to dig in there, buying a size up didn’t make any difference. So I would like to find the same kind of cotton lycra, smooth big pants but with comfortable leg holes that don’t dig in or rub.

kirkandpetal · 19/03/2021 12:07

I'm a size 12/14 and I take the large size. They do look startling huge but fit nicely. Maybe I'm just in denial at how huge my ass actually is.

I honestly don't notice the edging on the Uniqlo knickers ie. I dont feel the lace, it's not itchy or annoying. I think they do that style without the lace though.

cherrytree63 · 19/03/2021 12:14

@SirVixofVixHall I have the same problem with Sloggi.
I find Runderwear very comfy, stay in place but bad for VPL! Also the running knickers from Decathlon.

FinallyHere · 19/03/2021 12:17

@SavingsQuestions

After years of sticking with cotton only, I've recently tried these and am really pleased with the shape and absence of itchy borders

I have been browsing at M&S and found this: https://www.marksandspencer.com/5-pack-no-vpl-microfibre-high-rise-full-briefs/p/clp22077675?intid=mobileappppdpshare

Thanks cherrytree63 I will check those out now.
