What do you do to try staying looking young?

I'm 36 and always was blessed with looking young for my age....well until recently 😂 Over the last 6mths I am really beginning to look old!!

I've never really been one to use lotions and potions lol but maybe I need to start 🤣

It just got me thinking, what do other women do or use to help stay looking youthful?

You sound bloody gorgeous. What is strategic Botox, in your opinion? I’m 44 and haven’t touched the stuff yet for fear of a frozen look.

Branleuse · 17/03/2021 10:07

I think I look younger than I am because of genetics, but normally I just wash and moisturise and wear light makeup to stay looking younger. Theres been a couple of times ive had botox though and tbh, it really helps more than I expected, so I might carry on with it

Lamentations · 17/03/2021 12:29

@Tombola78

Lamentations, what ab exercises do you do? Really interested to follow ☺️
I lie on the floor with my legs bent and shins parallel to the floor - like I'm sitting on a chair and then extend each leg in turn to hover straight just above the floor. I worked up to a hundred and if I'm feeling strong I'll do it with my heavy boots on. Squats are great for your abs as well though - I think the thinking being that if you work your large muscle groups you'll see benefits all over.
Notanotherhun · 17/03/2021 20:38

Why? We'll all look wrinkly and old eventually. Maybe it should be about being comfortable with ageing instead of fearing it.

OhioOhioOhio · 17/03/2021 20:40

No alcohol

sadonfriday · 17/03/2021 20:45

Vegan diet, all the water, skincare regime, little to no alcohol, no grey hair, slightly softer makeup, keep teeth nice, exercise, sex, music, and still being yourself

Agree! Especially when I read posters saying they eat a vegan diet, no alcohol, stay out of the sun, do facial yoga, use complex skincare ...

I think fuck that, I’d rather just look my age

Number3BigCupOfTea · 17/03/2021 21:48

I do face exercises with the help of a jawrcise and a facial flex
I won't be able to afford a facelift!

N4ish · 17/03/2021 21:54

No alcohol, no caffeine, no carbs? Not the kind of life I want to lead.

Will keep living as I want and be happy with looking the age I am.

Delatron · 17/03/2021 22:50

Well exactly. I’m sure I’d look a few years younger with zero wine but life is short and I’m happy to spend ££ on treatments on the future.

Delatron · 17/03/2021 22:51

I don’t agree with the vegan diet argument either.

HummusAndCarrotSticks · 18/03/2021 07:23

Tbf, op asked, what are you doing to look younger? So, nobody is telling anyone else what to do. Nobody has to agree 🤷‍♀️.

sadonfriday · 18/03/2021 07:48

The effect of the vegan diet has been amazing facial skin/no spots and massive reduction in general skin quality so less cellulite etc

Delatron · 18/03/2021 13:12

I guess it’s individual but I looked and felt awful on a vegan diet! I don’t get cellulite anyway. I don’t eat lots of meat but fish like salmon has a positive effect on skin plus protein.

I think it’s hard to do a vegan diet well. You have to be very educated about nutrition.

ThorFull · 18/03/2021 21:48

I’m so disheartened to read that so many women are covering greys.
I’m 36 and the greys are becoming very prominent on my dark hair.
I’m determined to embrace them, while still exercising, eating well, cutting right back on alcohol (chocolate next).
I’m considering some highlights(?) to perhaps blend them in a little, but certainly not to cover them. I’m wearing my bigger pieces of silver jewellery now I’m finally going out to work again, to complement my silver hair. I’m using oil treatments and looking at new hairbrushes to keep the greys smooth and not frizzy.

I want to look my age- which is still young! But with silvery hair.
I think it’s possible.

ViciousJackdaw · 19/03/2021 01:20

Magnitone LiftOff (cheapo version of NuFace) along with retinol, matrixyl and lactic acid. Also tackle the greys and use Plantur 39 daily. None of this is to look young though, that ship has well and truly sailed. It's just to look a bit less haggard and all the above does help.

@requitalissima

Have superb genes Grin. Really helps. Stay slim. Apart from that, loads of water and sleep, exfoliate regularly, play with different acids, SPF 50, French pharmacy hoard of inexpensive potions - such fun. Bit of strategic Botox twice a year. Never had a sweet-tooth, nor do I like carbs. Eat loads of eggs, fish, meat, leafy things, tomatoes - love them in every shape and form, more fish. More eggs in every which way. Nuts, lots of nuts. More water and green tea, by buckets. Collagen supplements and various vitamins/minerals. However, drink like a fish as life's too short and I enjoy good wine, champagne and gin. A lot! Never chase 'trends' in fashion, know what shapes suit me and stick with them, always buy quality. Ah, me, the wonderful me, Grin 'Tis sounds like such a load of self-congratulatory gaff, really, however, works for me.
So many great points here. Eat a lot of kale and carrots to have that lovely peachy skin tone that will have a light tan when sun shines, be slim, a lovely figure will hugely help, a good face cream with a couple of pure rosehip oil, no alcohol, no processed food, and did I mention kale and carrots? We are what we eat. You eat rubbish or a lot of animals, it will show

Be happy, have good friends and laugh a lot.

LunaTheCat · 19/03/2021 05:12

PoeticBreeze ..that is just lovely. 56 now and I agree.
Looking younger is about valuing yourself and enjoying life.

FuckMeImFamous · 19/03/2021 09:34

Loads of nice fats, full fat Greek yog, avocados, nuts, lots of water, no booze in the week, a religious skincare regime - almond oil slathered over the face every day and removed with a clean muslin cloth, rosehip oil some evenings, Tretinoin every three days, Beauty Pie serum containing triple hyaluronic acid every day, REN glycolic mask (amazing stuff) once a week, baby botox to lift the eyebrows ever so slightly.

HRT!

FuckMeImFamous · 19/03/2021 09:36

Totally agree with this. I have been veggie for years, I think it shows. I also have a green nutribullet loaded with good stuff every day (including carrots and kale Grin )

Sweetener12 · 19/03/2021 09:38

I just use a digital wrinkle remover and shine bright like a diamond in my photos! Grin
Honestly, nothing more than a more or less healthy diet, regular exercise and moisturising cream and face masks. Anti-aging products do work but only to a certain point, so I try not to give in to all these dream-selling marketing

CarnageAtTheBloodyGardenCentre · 19/03/2021 14:51

@AmongUs

I've learnt my lesson as over the years I've got sucked in by the ads and shopping channels believing I needed every product and then ended up with a face full of spots. Keeping things more simple now. Sometimes less is more. My skin can't tolerate retinol so I just make sure the basics are done everyday cleanse and moisturise twice a day. Have recently found a spf that doesn't break me out so just started using that every morning too.

Hi, please can you confirm what this is called?

badacorn · 19/03/2021 15:05

sunscreen daily
not rubbing/stretching my skin
trying not to put too much weight on
try to sleep properly.. (haha I wish)

StarlightLady · 19/03/2021 15:40

An orgasm (or more) a day keeps the wrinkles away. It releases a positive chemical into your system.

doadeer · 19/03/2021 16:28

For me, moderation is fine. I was drinking a glass of wine on a Friday and Saturday... I stopped 2 months ago and no difference.

Likewise with meat, I usually have chicken or fish with one meal a day, if I cut this out I don't notice any change...
