What trainers are you wearing?

I'm a bit tired of my white converse, I've been wearing them for about 10 years and just replacing when they get worn out.

Which casual trainers are you wearing for day to day normality?

Thanks everyone! I've spent a long time googling trainers today.

So far Nike internationalists are top of the list and I've also realised I have a pair of superga in the back of the wardrobe that I've never worn.

Got a couple of pairs of trainers from Anthropology in their clearance sale, a brand called DATE and so comfy and I have had Stans before but I never found them comfortable

Evanna13 · 13/03/2021 21:31

Sketchers are so comfortable.

Lostinspace23 · 13/03/2021 21:35

Currently wearing a blue pair of New Balance - a bargain from the outlet shop. I have a nice crisp white pair of veja trainers to start wearing when the weather finally improves and socialising isn’t just chasing a toddler through muddy puddles at the park.

My absolute favourites in recent years were a pair of Addidas Court Vantage trainers - so comfy but the newer season ones are not the same. Sad

veryveryquietly · 13/03/2021 22:47

Adidas Falcon, just the most comfortable and supportive ever. Probably too chunky for this year's styles, but I. Don't. Care.

Puma Future Riders when I need cheering up because they're fun and comfortable.

oobedobe · 13/03/2021 22:58

My Stan Smiths are about 4 years old now and looking a bit tatty so I just got some Nike Air Force 1's (low) in white and I am loving the slightly more chunky look, also v v comfortable.

Lace up Vans tear up my ankles, though I have a slip on pair from 6 years ago that are great.

Also have some black Adidas which are more of a running style sneaker look.

For actual running I wear Asiacs!!

Germolenequeen · 14/03/2021 08:50

@Germolenequeen I guess it depends what you like. My sister LOVES Skechers and has several pairs. We've got very different styles, and I only ever wear "sporty" trainers when I do sport (I wear ASICS running shoes). For everyday wear my trainers have to be both comfy and retro (so my Onisuka Tigers, Adidas Superstars, Converse). Skechers just don't fit the brief.

@binkymcbinks

I guess it depends what you class as trainers too 🤔

I have loads of Converse that I love to wear off duty but I def wouldn't "train" in them - no support & totally flat 😅

What I do find annoying is the disparity in sizes between brands🤯

binkymcbinks · 14/03/2021 09:51

@Germolenequeen no I guess I was using the term "trainers" loosely. I mean trainers, plimsoles, pumps etc. As I said before, if I'm doing a sport activity I'll wear proper trainers designed for that (I run so I have ugly but v comfortable ASICS running shoes).
I used to love the Converse plimsoles with the lower profile sole. I can't seem to find them on line so maybe they sing do them any more, but they were a great "daintier" shoe for summer.
I'm also a big fan of Toms. People on MN seem to either love them or hate them but they are SO comfortable and (I think) look really cool in spring / summer as an alternative to trainers / plimsoles.

EllaPaella · 14/03/2021 12:57

I would love a pair of New Balance but sadly they are too narrow for my very wide feet.
I have two pairs of Nike Internationalist, a black pair and a pink pair. Very comfy.
I also have some Veja Campo which I really like and a pair of converse that are still going strong from 2014.

Cocolapew · 14/03/2021 13:06

The NB 997's are much wider than the other NBs I have @EllaPaella

goose1964 · 14/03/2021 14:06

Puma, can't remember which ones though as they were a limited edition, but nowhere near as comfortable as my previous pair of Reebok classics.

IndecentFeminist · 14/03/2021 14:09

I love Adidas superstars. I have an all white pair and black/leopard print.

Also some navy superga.

Juancornetto · 14/03/2021 14:12

All white Nike Cortez, I really like the shape of them

Newmumtobeee · 14/03/2021 14:18

Biased as I work for NB but they’re my favourite shoes. I personally love the 327’s, 500’s, zante’s and roavs! All are lovely and comfortable. New balance is a foam based brand so they do not use any gel. They base themselves on creating shoes for running and lifestyle. Paediatricians recommend them for all day comfort and people with shin splints, plantar fasciitis etc as they provide ideal support and comfort. Any NB trainer with “fresh foam” is great as it’s a premium layer of cushioning and most marathon runners will opt for those shoes due to the lasting comfort.

However, I also love a good Adidas or nike lightweight trainer !

MapleMay11 · 14/03/2021 14:18

The snobbery around Skechers is absurd

To be fair, there's a huge amount of snobbery around many of the brands mentioned on this thread. That shouldn't stop people wearing what they love.

EllaPaella · 14/03/2021 15:28

Thanks @Cocolapew - I'll look them up!

FourTurnings · 14/03/2021 15:29

Veja’s - have four different styles currently 👍

StrawberryLipstickStateOfMind · 14/03/2021 16:56

I have some white canvas supergas, some pale pink suede gazelles and a battered up pair of superstars. Have some white leather gazelles on order atm too!

Logoff · 14/03/2021 16:58

Gucci tennis shoes, they are really uncomfortable.

huuuuunnnndderrricks · 14/03/2021 17:21

Green new balance

Black new balance
Nike daybreak
Nike runners neon colours
Nike green hi tops
Red Adidas gazelle
And/ or leather white and leopard

ANd so many more .. excited for better weather !

IamNotDarling · 14/03/2021 17:30

Stan Smiths with an arch support insole added in. I’ve been wearing the same causal trainers for 25 years and being old and decrepit isn’t going to hold me back.

RampantIvy · 14/03/2021 19:00

@Logoff

Gucci tennis shoes, they are really uncomfortable.
I must be old. I just won't wear uncomfortable shoes, no matter how pretty they look.
lachy · 14/03/2021 19:01

For everyday knocking about either Adidas Stan Smith or Superga pumps. Both are very comfy, but My Supergas are more summery. I also have a very knackered pair of converse which have seen better days but are like Slippers.

For gym/running I always go for Adidas, I have wide feet and they seem to fit the best of all brands.

Etherealhedgehog · 20/03/2021 18:28

After years in Converse or Keds with increasingly sore feet, I am now wearing Skechers with a v. comfy sole and suspect I will never look back

minchinfin · 20/03/2021 20:09

I will only wear Nike Air Force 1s now. They aren't that comfortable initially but once worn in, so comfortable. I have 4 pairs including a battered up pair that are about 6/7 years old that I use for walking and are literally like slippers. I change the laces to round ones though, somehow makes them more comfortable.

I have some vejas which are terrible, so uncomfortable and some pumas, but hardly wear them as nothing ever compared to my AF1s.
