Rosacea...

I just wanted to post this in case it helps anyone in my situation. I’ve suffered on and off with problem skin since I was about 22 (41 now) As anyone with “bad” skin knows it’s a really upsetting thing to deal with. You get many opinions as in, don’t wear makeup, it’s your diet, go on the pill. I’ve been on so many different medications and antibiotics like, Erythromycin, Lymecycline, topical acne cream plus I’ve also been on Roaccutane. I was always told I have cystic acne. Nothing worked. Until I started researching myself. So as far as I’ve found out Rosacea is caused by excess dermodex mites in your skin that cause the inflammation and spots. With this you can have redness on it’s own or along with cystic spots that look like acne. So, I decided to try Cetaphil cleanser and Soolantra from Superdrug online doctors. Basically it has cleared my skin in 3 months, I can’t tell you how relieved I am and amazed. I just want to help anyone suffering with this that may help you too. I’ll post pics in a minute if anyone is interested x

Does anyone know if solantra works for just redness? I have roseaca but not the spots, only redness. Would Solantra still work? OP, you look stunning. I’m so pleased it’s worked for you!

UtahGirl12 · 30/03/2021 15:32

I ordered some Soolantra as a result of this thread, and stared using this morning. Fingers crossed!

hoochymamgu · 30/03/2021 17:17

Another one here for soolantra Smile
Thanks to rosasea threads on MN I tried ordering this from Superdrug in November after a first flare up of my skin.
I was a bit Hmm
Completely gone now. It took three months to work, applying every day all over my face as instructed. It got worse before it got better Wink
Now I just use soap and water, and moisturise with la Roche posay or Johnson's baby cream. Use sun cream too. I have to be quite gentle with my skin.
Thanks OP Grin
@Rosaceagal the first photo is last week, the second is my starting point. I’m a bit spotty at the minute, which I think is fairly common two weeks in- as things change on the skin. Definitely improving!
Oh looking better already! I'm so happy it's working for you too

Thank you so much that's lovely of you. I'd definitely still give it a go as it really reduced my redness as well as spots. Nothing to lose eh

Excellent!! That's great, I really hope it works for you too. I'm so relieved to have finally found something that's helped me. I'm going to phone my doctors on Thursday and see if they will prescribe it for me rather than buying it myself, worth a shot

pitchimperfect I have flushing rosacea and tried mirvaso. It made no real difference to the overall redness of my skin and i had my worst ever flushing episodes on it. I wouldn't recommend.

My GP then offered me beta blockers which i declined as I thought taking heart tablets for a red face was a bit extreme!

I've just started using soolantra, again ordered from superdrug. I didn't know if they would give me it as the pictures of my face that I sent them didn't have any lumps or bumps but they did! I've only been using it for 3 days so too early to know if it will help.

Wow, OP. Amazing results. Can I ask if your skin got better before it got worse? I did exactly the same as you with superdrug online and got a tube of soolantra. After 10-12 days my skin was worse and quite sore and I gave up. Wondering if you just have to push through it. My rosacea only affects my cheeks x

UtahGirl12 · 31/03/2021 13:40

Day 2 of using it, and I have to say I'm very impressed so far. I use it in the morning, and this morning I was able to skip some of my make up! Normally I put sun cream on, then Rosalique green cream, then concealer, then IT CC cream, then powder. Today I felt able to go straight to the powder! That's unheard of for me! I Took photos at the start, so will take more photos after a week of using. I'm pretty scared to believe this might eventually solve my decades old problem of spotty red cheeks! Loving it so far, thanks so much for this post!

*worse, before it got better? 😁

Hey, that's a shame you didn't get on well with it. With me, it actually improved within a couple of days then just kept improving. I know that's not what you wanted to hear! Sorry. What about trying the Cetaphil cleanser on it's own and see if that helps. I started both at the same time but you could try that first x

I'm currently using lymecycline and azelaic acid 15% cream. It's only been a few weeks but I'm already seeing improvement. No pustules and only two swollen lumps. Redness and cheek texture have improved. Better results than lymecycline alone. My GP wasn't aware of the NICE evidence summary on ivermectin (which is in soolantra) for papulopustular rosacea, so has promised to read the evidence summary in case azelaic acid doesn't provide a full solution. Just sharing in case this helps.

Thanks, @Rosaceagal. I have just started using cerave cleanser but will try cetaphil next. Thank you for the recommendation x

BluebellsGreenbells · 31/03/2021 18:45

I had this years ago and used cold sore cream from the chemist. It stung but it cleared in 3 days and never came back.

Just something else to try.

Rosaceagal · 20/04/2021 17:35

Just a wee update. So I finished my first tube of soolantra about 3 weeks ago, I noticed my redness coming back with a vengeance plus got some more spots too. So I managed to get a phone appointment to speak to my doctor and explained my full history and how soolantra cleared it up and she prescribed me some. Yey. My skin is already calming down after a few days use. Wondering how you are all getting on?

PeacheyPeach · 20/04/2021 19:14

@rosaceagal I have been using soolantra for about a week now so it's a bit early for me to see results x so do you feel like you will be using soolantra every day for the foreseeable now? If you stop using it that the rosacea just comes back?

ScreamingBeans · 24/04/2021 00:41

@BluebellsGreenbells which cold sore cream did you use?
