Treating myself. A ring? £300 ish

I want a new ring and been given some money just to be spent on me so thought I'd get a pretty ring. I would love a new engagement ring but doubt £300 gets much though I dreamed last night of a small rub over diamond on a really thin rose gold band but there's no chance of that! I like silver, white gold/ platinum and hapoy to go vintage. I like quirky too. I just want to know if £300 will get me anything nice. What do you think? Show me your rings too that fall in this price bracket ! New engagement ring might have to wait as I am a bit magpie like in wanting a new diamond which will be way more.

Look up auctions. You can often find vintage diamond rings going really quite cheaply

gracefull · 11/03/2021 22:12

Look on Etsy as well

Cocopogo · 11/03/2021 22:14

Vintage tend to be more yellow gold. You mentioned the rose gold but the went on to say you like silver and white gold so not sure.

I like Clogau rings, they do some nice ones in your budget but not diamond!

Rainallnight · 11/03/2021 22:17

For example, this went for £150. auction.gorringes.co.uk/auction-lot-detail/250319/593

Lots on Etsy or eBay. Vintage will get more for your money, or lab made stones.

Try addysvintage.co.uk

Bettina500 · 11/03/2021 22:46

£300 would get you a secondhand small diamond solitaire on platinum if you want an engagement ring or that kind of style. I paid that for mine, it's a .25 carat princess cut.

There’s some lovely pieces here: carrieelizabeth.co.uk/

Investigate local jewelry designers - some beautiful rings with stones, maybe not diamonds but still gorgeous

Hold off until the shops re-open and go to the jewellery quarter in Birmingham. I think you might get more than you would expect.

MrsBDarcy · 12/03/2021 09:11

@MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously I love that!! Also love the iceberg one
I'll check out auctions too

Silly question though- can all rings be adjusted.m? I'm a J so a lot are too big

colouringindoors · 12/03/2021 09:14

Anything made from gold or silver definitely can be adjusted

colouringindoors · 12/03/2021 09:16

rainallnight wow that's an amazing price for 3 diamonds!

Off to investigate auction rooms...

MrsBDarcy · 12/03/2021 09:24

@Runkle Now perusing Addys and found a lovely one (or 3!)

margotsdevil · 12/03/2021 09:25

Rings can be adjusted but depends on the setting. I was told up/down 2 sizes is fine, anything more can be problematic.

colouringindoors · 12/03/2021 09:31

This site is amazing! Loads of auction rooms online together. Do many pretty things 😅

You can pay up to 20% buyers premium at auctions. So the sold price isn’t the price paid. It can be a lot more.

Oh my God this is going to be my undoing! Do they post items?

PresentingPercy · 12/03/2021 15:55

I’m attaching some from the www.sellingantiques.couk web site. All are a bit above your budget but several would appeal a lot to me. I would find the extra £50 needed! No auction fees! No one else bidding against you so no disappointment!

Auction prices are an estimate. They are frequently wrong! Too low! It’s to attract bids.
