What do you wear after a shower, if not getting dressed straight away ?

Sometimes at the weekend or after a bath I like to potter without having to get dressed. I hate dressing gowns as they just continuously flap open. For the past few years I’ve had these from John Lewis. Love them but they don’t sell them anymore and I can’t find anything similar that doesn’t look like it’s designed for a much older person.

Does anyone have anything similar ? Or what do you put on after a shower/bath to potter ?

See I'd want to do my cleaning making beds etc before getting in the shower

Graffitiqueen · 10/03/2021 18:48

What about an oodie?

activitythree · 10/03/2021 18:48

Clean pyjamas usually

LaurieSchafferIsAllBitterNow · 10/03/2021 18:55

you want a man's XXXL dressing gown...and tie a secure knot, absolutely no flapping then. Women's dressing gowns or robes are designed for pretty wafting and lounging

tbh I waft about in a towel until completely dry and if I am Not Getting Dressed then it's stretchy leggings, a vest top and a hoodie, and GIANT socks.

@Graffitiqueen

What about an oodie?
I was going to suggest this too!
Nosejobent · 10/03/2021 18:56

Something akin to “apartment pants”?
:)

newname2021 · 10/03/2021 19:06

How about this beach dress?

Tanaqui · 10/03/2021 19:14

Boden often have womens towelling beachwear in the summer - like a long long hoodie, and if you are petite you could probably get one of their kids ones!

Woodlandbelle · 10/03/2021 19:17

I wear leggings and a soft hoodie but these idea are great

BackforGood · 10/03/2021 19:26

Well, if I were doing stuff like 'doing my hair' or putting on make up and didn't want to put my posh frock on until the last minute, then I'd wear my dressing gown. I find tying the belt means it doesn't flap open.

If the bath / shower were in the evening, I'd put my PJs on

If I were then cracking on with some housework, I'd just get dressed.

I am completely baffled of the concept of setting out to by some clothes specifically to wear, when I don't want to put clothes on Confused

HalfBrick · 10/03/2021 19:28

I get round this by not going I the shower until I'm ready to get dressed properlyGrin. And like a pp I prefer to do the manual sweaty stuff before showering.
That outfit you posted looks like a summer playsuit, search for those and see if anything comes up?

SageRosemary · 10/03/2021 19:40

QVC do zipped robes

BakeOffRewatch · 10/03/2021 19:52

Try the search term “terry” rather than towelling? Like this ASOS one. One of the reviews is even by a kindred spirit talking about how great it is out the shower! www.asos.com/prd/22762871

River Islans and ASOS have loads of this stuff every summer. Probably boohoo and missguided too, but I’ve never used them so don’t know.

Like @Tanaqui said, Boden is good, and there is a really good like new/unused resale market of Boden stuff on eBay.

@allfurcoatnoknickers thank you for introducing me to nap dresses! I love them. To answer @WalkingMeAway‘s original question, that’s basically the idea of what I do. I have pull on bras (bra tops?), 10 white cotton t shirts, and 5 loose “harem” style trousers or shorts (all cheap market stuff, only touch skin at ankles and waist). I sleep and potter in these. Even go to corner shop for milk in AM! I make sure I dry myself with a towel properly under boobs and belly and feel I’m good to go for loose clothing, so no need for terry or towelling clothes.

wizzbangfizz · 10/03/2021 19:59

I'm annoyed I opened this thread as i really want the John Lewis one you posted and you are right OP they can't be found

minniemoocher · 10/03/2021 20:01

Dressing gown or get dressed, never seen a need for another specific garment. (Before dd came for Christmas and couldn't return to university I would simply wear underwear but it would embarrass her!)

JaceLancs · 10/03/2021 22:52

I tend to wear an old jersey t shirt dress in summer
In winter I have a zip front dressing gown from M & S similar to this

tobee · 10/03/2021 23:10

I use a 100% cotton zip up dressing gown. Not exactly sexy but keeps me warm and dries up the damp! Grin I also have one to use for covering my body when I'm home dyeing my hair.

tobee · 10/03/2021 23:11

From Amazon and under £20

LunaHeather · 10/03/2021 23:20

Oh no, I like that M&S thing and just used a £12 voucher I had, for the sake of using it.

Rina66 · 10/03/2021 23:32

What about this from Simply Be? It’s towelling.

LemonSwan · 10/03/2021 23:42

I get this OP. The lesson here is is you find something irreplacable you just buy 2 or 3.

StarlightLady · 11/03/2021 06:26

I have an old but trusty beach dress, now relegated from beach duty hanging on the back of the bathroom door.

I went off dressing gowns after an incident when l accidently flashed the postman after belt slippage.

nahdenmardybum · 11/03/2021 06:36

I bought a onesie years ago as a bit of a joke but (not to be dramatic) it's a life changer. It's like having a soft dressing gown fitted to your body. No flapping open and less bulky. I practically live in mine now if I'm pottering around the house.

The only downside is they don't appear to be as popular these days , so harder to find.

Try eBay, m&s , Matalan etc.

SpeckledyHen · 11/03/2021 06:50

Stay in your PJs until you have finished pottering and then shower?

Or make one ?
