Funky but functional sandals?

I'm getting excited for the spring and summer coming and want to be ready with a comfy but funky pair of sandals! I never seem to get the balance right, I usually go for Clarks but they seem to verge on frumpy and clumpy.
Can anyone suggest somewhat else that will be just as comfy?

Until any very knowledgeable fashionistas come along can I just show you these Hush They are very comfortable and I can't wait for some nice weather to wear them. Hush have other lovely sandals too.

Chocolateporridge · 04/03/2021 17:44

Thanks for the suggestion @ They look funky and also comfy but I need an ankle strap otherwise I get really hard skin on my heels from the sole slapping off my foot 😁
Sorry, I should have mentioned that!

I love saltwater sandals. Quite pricey but they wear amazingly. My first pair will be on their 4th summer and still look fab

Staffroomdoughnut · 04/03/2021 17:46

Saltwater sandals come in lots of colours. I’ve never had any but would love some red ones.

Staffroomdoughnut · 04/03/2021 17:47

@TheFutureIs great taste!

TheFutureIs · 04/03/2021 17:50

@Staffroomdoughnut do it! I promise you won't regret it! If you join the Facebook resale groups you can often get a bargain

Invisimamma · 04/03/2021 17:56

I've heard great things about saltwater sandles but are they too mumsy and frumpy ? I've heard them called shitwater Blush. I'm early 30s if that makes a difference.

TheFutureIs · 04/03/2021 18:07

I guess it depends on your style. I think they have a bit of a hipster vibe to them

Sleepthief · 04/03/2021 18:22

I loved my saltwaters. Had several pairs over about five years, but they're so flat they exacerbated my latent back problems and contributed to a knee injury. I can't wear them anymore 😢

AllTalkNo · 04/03/2021 18:52

Moshulu?

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 04/03/2021 18:58

Birkenstocks but depends what you wear them with!

stclair · 04/03/2021 19:26

I’m not sure if they can be considered funky but fitflop sandals are comfy. And Ecco.

waitingforsun · 04/03/2021 19:40

Also love Saltwater, and Birkenstock.

Teva have some funky ones at the moment and they seem to be quite on trend. I don't have any but I think they look really really comfy!!

bookish83 · 04/03/2021 19:40

Camper ones that look like a cross between birkies and doc sandals

goose1964 · 04/03/2021 20:21

Ones like this are in his year www.zalando.co.uk/anna-field-sandals-gunmetal-an611a0wn-c11.html

Linky? Sounds exactly what I've been hankering for...
tonytiy · 04/03/2021 20:40

I have these & love them. Maybe look at Teva & Arizona love. I find Saltwater too flat & don't like the strap position.

If you like the first suggestion but need ankle support maybe

Birkenstocks!

I live in mine between Feb-October, and got DH to get me some very ugly Birkenstock slippers for my birthday because I missed my sandals so much over winter.

Saltwaters do nothing for me, but I am Chunky Of Ankle so they’d be really unflattering on me.

tonytiy · 04/03/2021 20:42

this!

HerNameIsY0shimi · 04/03/2021 20:48

Like pps, I'm not sure I can claim to be particularly funky, but I like these and want some for summer:

Not sure which colour.

I also have some Fitflops which I think are so ugly they're pretty - hang on, I'll attach a pic! Yes, they're fugly, but I loves them.

I keep seeing Saltwater sandals recommended on MN but looking at them they just look too flat and I can't imagine them being very flattering.

I think you'd have to have the right shape of calves and ankles for them to look good and feet that are not too big or they could make your feet look like huge flippers!

FedNlanders · 04/03/2021 21:22

How do saltwater size up?

Branleuse · 04/03/2021 21:24

I only like birkenstock or dr marten sandals

bookish83 · 04/03/2021 21:25

@teawamutu

Sorry that was lazy of me!
Got them last year, they are amazing. Soft, hard wearing given how soft they are, comfy, no blisters or anything. I love them! True to size/a tiny bit on the generous size

I'm relatively flat footed and can't wear burkies at all as they hurt so much. Saltwaters are comfy on me but a bit too flat
