Funky but functional sandals?

I'm getting excited for the spring and summer coming and want to be ready with a comfy but funky pair of sandals! I never seem to get the balance right, I usually go for Clarks but they seem to verge on frumpy and clumpy.
Can anyone suggest somewhat else that will be just as comfy?

I've got Teva midform and really like the style and they're very comfortable.

Ooo thank you @bookish83! To Google!

I bought a pair of DM sandals last year and really loved them, they are the iridescent mermaidy blue green and the most comfortable thing I ever put on my feet. Voss style maybe??

Also got a bargain pair on ebay, they are slip on, more birkenstock stylee but also very comfortable.

I get a variation on this every year. Always with a full back as i think it makes them more versatile and wearable and always in gold as it is such a brilliant neutral. I've got these (Monsoon) but have had variations from Office, Russell & Bromley and Carvella.

Teva, Blowfish and Dr Martens all worth a look.

I have some Saltwaters. I think whether they are mimsy or whatever very much depends what you wear them with. A Toast or eg Kin summer frock and the sandals work. I also have these from Clarks. I don't know if they are funky but they work for me orinoco.

I’m tempted to buy a pair of these. I’ve worn clog boots every winter for years, and they are blissfully comfy. I haven’t tried them in a summer sandal yet.

I adore Lottas, but my consistent inability to stop kicking myself in the fecking ankle while wearing them has led to more than a few injuries.

ExConstance · 05/03/2021 09:59

I tried some saltwater sandals on, really wanting to like them, but they felt too hard and flat in the sole and were not comfortable at all.
I like the Clarks range if it is something comfortable for work that is wanted, Dune also have a pair that comes in a multi tweed pattern and a chanel style stitched pattern with interesting fastenings.

Oh wow, thanks for all the suggestions! I really like those camper ones but I'm off to Google all the other suggestions!

When I found Arizonas in black patent I knew my search for this summer’s sandals was over. The patent adds a bit of edge.

fightingSmiths · 05/03/2021 10:35

Birkenstock! There are so many different models... so comfy. and I think they look good too but I know some beg to differ.

Dramalady52 · 05/03/2021 10:53

Recommend skechers sandals, good foot support. I have two pairs that I've had for years and are still in good nick. Basically trainers soles with straps!

PaulHollywoodsLowHangingFruit · 05/03/2021 14:44

Fly London are usually comfortable if you go for the lower of their wedge styles or more trad sandal soles.

Do you not find the patent digs into your feet?

I’m looking for black sandals that I could get away with at work over the summer but find patent really unforgiving to break in!

PaulHollywoodsLowHangingFruit · 05/03/2021 15:10

If you go for Birkenstock birko-flo they are immediately comfortable in. my experience - the leather can be a git to break in.

PaulHollywoodsLowHangingFruit · 05/03/2021 15:23

Not sure what your budget is but I had these made by Green Shoes and they are comfortable and funky in a crunchy way to my mind. Not everyones taste admittedly but they are made to fit your feet and will last years...

I got these last year and I love them.

These M&S sandals are comfortable for wearing all day and look nice. I had them last summer and I see they are doing them again. I have quite wide feet and they are good on me.

VinylDetective · 05/03/2021 17:06

I’m wearing them round the house with socks to break them in @TerribleCustomerCervix. They’ll be fine by the time the better weather comes. It’s not a good look and the bloke laughs at me but he’s hardly the epitome of sartorial elegance himself!

HiPieInTheSky · 05/03/2021 17:07

I live in Birkenstocks in the summer, but tend to stick with the same Arizona style, but have about 4 different style's in soooooo may colours.

I have lottas as well love a clog!, find them a better fit that Hasbeens and cheaper, have a look at the 2nds and sale ones

OhioOhioOhio · 05/03/2021 17:08

Thanks these look great

HelgaDownUnder · 05/03/2021 17:41

I have sandals from Noat. They're expensive, but amazing quality.
In a hot climate I live in them year-round.
Some of their styles are frumptastic, but they have also some nice ones. They tend to have a slight wedge or platform sole, which I prefer to thin flats.

zeddybrek · 05/03/2021 17:45

Saltwater, mine are in such condition and this will be the 5th summer I am using them. Yes they are frumpy but I can walk all day in them and my feet never hurt. My feet are wide though so I have limited options but these are just perfect.

I have ordered some Birkenstock Yao I think they are called. They have a wide range now and have them in the past. Also super comfy.

rookiemere · 05/03/2021 20:07

I got these in a couple of colour ways from M&S www.marksandspencer.com/leather-two-strap-sandals/p/clp60256053?color=NAVY#intid=prodColourId-60256053
