Just bought a load of Charlotte Tilbury make up

Never had it before, but just thought bollocks and treated myself. I didn't get everything I wanted, because it would have come to over £300. Is it that good? I'm still going to be me underneath, so we shall see if you can polish a turd.

"You can't polish a turd...but you can roll it in glitter"

BillyAndTheSillies · 03/03/2021 20:59

Oh OP I did the same thing, spent a fair bit less but still no idea what I was thinking.

Proof is in the pudding, probably the first time I checked a returns policy. They accept lightly used make up as a return so at least there's that!

JackieWeaverFever · 03/03/2021 21:00

Probably not what you want to hear but I bought a mystery box and hated virtually every item....

ElderMillennial · 03/03/2021 21:01

You've bought it now so try it!

I got a few things during the Black Friday sale and I do like what I got.

Eyjafjallajokulldottir · 03/03/2021 21:05

I got the pillow talk lipstick and it is distinctly meh.

blubberball · 03/03/2021 21:06

Oh really? Oh crap! Haha

Ooh I'm jealous, I think it's fab. What did you buy OP?

My favourites are the flawless finish powder, eyes to mesmerise cream eyeshadow, and the beach sticks are great too. Plus some gorgeous long lasting lipsticks.

It's one of the few places I've been consistently impressed by the counter staff. They can identify the right colours to suit my complexion and even when I'm unsure, it always turns out to be right with hindsight. I often repurchase online.

ElderMillennial · 03/03/2021 21:14

I think it depends on your colouring as to whether Pillow Talk will work for you.

I'm a warm medium skin tone and went for Pillow Talk medium and I love it. I also got MI kiss which is similar snd Very Victoria (?) which is a natural nude on me.

The stoned rose palette is nice.

I have some other bits I haven't tried yet including some eyeshadows and a blusher as I got a mystery box. I got some good deals so it was worth it.

BlueThistles · 03/03/2021 21:24

Id like to know how you get on with it OP 🌺

Gleps · 03/03/2021 21:27

I have the pillow talk mascara op and absolutely love it. What did you go for?

flakymate · 03/03/2021 21:34

What did you buy?

I’m a makeup fan and have only tried their setting powder in the rose gold compact…it’s okay

Lamentations · 03/03/2021 21:54

I've liked everything I've had. The pillow talk lipstick could do with being a bit more mauve toned for me for daytime but still looks nice with a smokey eye at night. I always dab 8 hour cream over the lipsticks because the ones I have are matte, which I don't like the look or feel of. The eye crayons are really good, I'd buy more of those. I'm tempted by the medium version of PT but will wait until the shops are open and I next visit Covent Garden to try it out first.

Purplecatshopaholic · 03/03/2021 21:57

I find CT a bit hit and miss but I love some of her stuff. The pillow talk mascara is fab, as is the lippie. Also the eye pencil which is black on one end and a champagney colour on the other end - wear it all the time.

Uptoongirl · 03/03/2021 22:07

What did you get? Love her face powder but I was underwhelmed by pillow talk and the magic away concealer. I want to try a blush next but I've heard they are quite fragile and I'm a bit clumsy.

DianaT1969 · 03/03/2021 22:12

Sorry, I treated myself to the mascara before Christmas. I've had better £7 ones from Superdrug. So disappointed because I didn't have much spare money, but thought it would be amazing.

blubberball · 03/03/2021 22:59

I got foundation, pillow talk lip stick, lip liner, eye pencil, eye shadow, with free samples of magic cream and.... Something else, I can't quite remember. Also got another free eye shadow pallette for spending over £90 😬

I read that Wilko do a good dupe for a lip liner, so I ordered one of them for the much nicer price of £1.80 😁👍

SeaShoreGalore · 03/03/2021 23:05

If you’re skin is warm toned, the pillow talk should look good. They do returns though if you don’t like something.

blubberball · 03/03/2021 23:07

I think it should be OK. I'm a red head with pretty much the same colouring as Charlotte Tilbury 😁

I use the bits I got two or three years ago when it was the new big thing. I got an eyeliner brush which is my best eyeliner brush, really does feel soft but 'precise' in application. I got the pillow talk original lipstick which i like but my lips are so thin, a dark lipstick doesn't suit me at all, and I got the pillow talk eyeshadow set which I like, the colours are nice and I use them for the day. So, yeh, I'd say the colours are very natural and easy to wear. I think my colouring is quite pale and charlotte tilbury obviously had pale people in mind with the pillow talk ranger.

blubberball · 03/03/2021 23:10

You don't get much paler than me. I'm like a newborn fish, you can see my heart through my skin

Number3BigCupOfTea · 03/03/2021 23:14

this brush, it's lovely. I bought a bobbi brown and a chanel eye liner brush but i use the CT one.

Number3BigCupOfTea · 03/03/2021 23:15

Ha, a new born fish! you'll suit this make up I think!

Thisismyusernamefornow · 03/03/2021 23:16

Love the mascara. One of the best I've tried.

BusterGonad · 04/03/2021 06:50

Let us know when it arrives. I've only ever had her perfume and a few mini lipsticks.
