Has anyone used something they can swear by that actually works ? I really suffer with them on my nose and beginning to be quite conscious. Hoping there's some miracle out there I haven't heard of ...

I've been recently tempted by duct tape, but am worried about the amount of skin that might come off with it!

I do remember some kind of sticky tape things I used when I was you get though, but can't remember how effective they were. Now in my 40s and the blackheads seem to be coming back Confused

BioBins · 01/03/2021 19:53

I use a salicylic acid cleanser from the inkey list, it's not dramatic, but I do think it decreases them over time.
You might be thinking of the biore pore strips? They're like tape that sticks and pulls them out

MaryBoBary · 01/03/2021 19:54

You can get blackhead strips for your nose or I use one of those little blackhead tools with a loop on the end. Then glycolic acid toner from Aldi.

DianaT1969 · 01/03/2021 20:06

In the olden days before Covid I had them extracted during facials. It kept the numbers down. I haven't found anything that works as well at home.

QueenPaw · 01/03/2021 21:30

Are they actually blackheads or are the sebaceous filaments?
Pic attached!

Msgiggles30 · 01/03/2021 22:29

@QueenPaw well i never knew this! I have sebaceous filaments by the looks rather than the blackheads id always assumed! Are there tips for these?

Howshouldibehave · 01/03/2021 22:31

I have sebaceous filaments on my nose and chin-I have never found anything that works to get rid of them. Would be very interested to hear if others have found something good.

QueenPaw · 01/03/2021 22:58

Retinol worked for mine, I have some grim before and after pics if anyone wants! I use tretinoin from skin and me

Yes please. My teenager needs something for blackheads.
notveryhappyhere · 01/03/2021 23:09

@QueenPaw do you mind my asking what your tretinoin percentage was? Mine is so low - first month 0.009%. Three weeks in and no difference. Thanks!

QueenPaw · 01/03/2021 23:11

@notveryhappyhere I'm on 0.06 now but low and slow is the best!

My pores are still there but you can see the filaments are disappearing. Paulas choice BHA helped a bit but I've had these since I was about 11 and spending so long squeezing and ripping nose strips off as a teenager Blush means the pores are bigger now

notveryhappyhere · 01/03/2021 23:14

Big difference! How long did it take to get onto the 0.06? I am impatient!

QueenPaw · 01/03/2021 23:16

I've been with them since July but started on a slightly higher dose as already using retinol before. They were happy to do that but kept me at the same prescription for a while
The forehead wrinkle change is the most dramatic, it's crazy!

notveryhappyhere · 01/03/2021 23:18

Yes I was using a 1% retinol but only a couple of times a week. I didn’t tell them as they only asked about tret usage. Maybe I should email them and see if they can up me.

floofycroissant · 01/03/2021 23:23

That difference is immense, I have ginourmous pores and after years of mistakenly savaging my sebaceous filaments.

At what point do Skin + Me tell you your prescription? I've just tried to do the consultation and they ask for payment before I even know what they're prescribing. Seems odd.

QueenPaw · 01/03/2021 23:26

@floofycroissant after photos I think but it's been a while. I do have a code for them which gives 2 months free
Not sponsored, I genuinely am so pleased with them and I like I can push the prescription back or cancel without hassle because no time for awkward subscriptions!

floofycroissant · 01/03/2021 23:30

Thanks @QueenPaw and how long did it take to start to see the difference?

I am notoriously bad at beauty regimes, so £240 per year is a big jump for me. However, despite it being relatively blemish free I have hated my large pores for as long as I can remember - so if it actually works I'd be delighted!

QueenPaw · 01/03/2021 23:32

I would say a few months for noticing my hormonal acne was improved, and then the smaller changes took about 6-7 months to start to see
I very rarely get spots now and had quite bad acne before around my period, and the fine lines on my forehead have faded massively

LongIslandIcedT · 01/03/2021 23:33

A full on home facial is how I clear mine. Cleanse/ Face Mask/ Steam and then go at em with a light up magnifying mirror and a set of blackhead tools.

mrssunshinexxx · 02/03/2021 06:59

Thank you everyone

I have had good experiences with benzoyl peroxide, I started using it for cystic acne but it has cleared up the blackheads and sebaceous fillaments on my nose and cheeks wonderfully. I use the acne.org cream once a day and I am so pleased with the difference.

Hemlock2013 · 02/03/2021 07:16

@QueenPaw, do you have before and after of the forehead wrinkle lines you’d be willing to share? I’m on month two of prescription tret from Dermatica and overly invested in wrinkle reduction.

I also have those things on my nose and did a biker strip yesterday funnily enough! Not much change tbh

Huggybear16 · 02/03/2021 07:20

I love this mask. It says on the box to wash off after 10 minutes, but if you leave it to dry, it peels off. Have a look at the reviews on Amazon, I'd highly recommend it too.

QueenPaw · 02/03/2021 07:20

Sure. Disclaimer that I had Botox 4 times after photo 1, they're 3 years apart and by the time of photo 2 I hadn't had any Botox for 18 months so it was well worn off!

Thank you @Huggybear16 this is the kind of thing I was hoping for
