St Charlotte. Love that cream shirt. I like the others too, but that’s my favourite. Trousers are a great shape.
@alphaechokiwi .my word, that dress is so so lovely. I love it in all the iterations, and it would be great at a wedding, on its own. But I think it looks gorgeous with the jumper and boots. I have a similarly shaped Somerset dress, think it might be too small right now. Try to do the 3 way challenge later. Bedrooms messy
Hello @missbridgerton

StCharlotte · 06/03/2021 17:35

Thanks all. I chose the cream shirt because @ParisJeTAime showed hers recently and it reminded me I had one! I don't know why I hardly wear it when it's so perfect for work.

DwangelaForever · 06/03/2021 18:27

Is anyone short and plus sized? I'm 4ft10 and wear 16/18 and have no idea how to dress lol. I have a mum tum from 2x c sections and just feel so crap about my wardrobe!

Zebracat · 06/03/2021 19:04

@DwangelaForever .Hello. Sorry. I am 5ft 7 so have no tips for a short person, but what we seem to be finding our way towards is appreciating that we all have positives, but tend not to notice. I too have a stomach and tend to avoid anything that cuts me in half in the middle. I don’t wear belts, or boxy tops. I prefer longline tops. But if you have a waist, that’s probably wrong. I do have a short daughter who is plus sized but hourglass, and I think she looks fabulous in tea dresses, and in jeans with shorter tops. What are you drawn towards?

ParisJeTAime · 06/03/2021 19:20

Welcome @DwangelaForever! Welcome also to the other new faces! I usually welcome everyone and I think I've missed some, so apologies if I have Flowers.

I am on the tall side too, so also not much help! However, yes I've also had 2 babies, one was a CS, so my tummy is absolutely a problem area. I find tighter fitting on my top half and looser around my hips and anywhere below my waistline, until about mid thingy length suits me best these days. That whole section, from waist to mid thigh on me, does not enjoy being clinged to at all!

Agree with Zebra, there are all different shapes and styles on here and I think it is just a matter of what you like and then tweaking it to suit your shape, whatever that is Smile

StCharlotte I really like tgose trosers, especially with the cream shirt. Green top is my second favourite.

alphaechokiwi I love that dress on its own but not with the jumper.

Imkindreally that dress really suits you! Beautiful hour glass shape!

On the local appropriateness of boots with dresses discussion we had earlier - I asked a colleague and she said its "very modern" and young girls wear boots with Dirndl... www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-m&biw=396&bih=717&tbm=isch&sxsrf=ALeKk01wToNjin-rtx2LBFCh9R-y53T2hg%3A1615131689573&sa=1&q=dirndl+stiefeletten&oq=dirndl+Stife&aqs=mobile-gws-lite.0.0l1#imgrc=lT8uRvhRG31ZVM
not quite sure where to go with that answer

missbridgerton welcome.

UntilYourNextHairBrainedScheme · 07/03/2021 15:47

DwangelaForever welcome too! I've had 3 caesarean sections (do I get a prize? Grin ) so my tummy is a mess, especially as the first was an emergency one done by a junior doctor (the consultant who did the second one was very scathing about the position and the scar)... helpful Hmm I'm a boringly average 5ft 6 though, so not very helpful on the height.

UntilYourNextHairBrainedScheme · 07/03/2021 15:54

I tried the style it 3 ways challenge with my Richmond sausage dress BlushGrin but all I really achieved was confirming it doesn't really suit my shape - not for apples, needs an hour glass figure I think. I'm still wearing it with a pair of black skinnies which I don't wear otherwise as they're superskinnies with tiny pockets (pocket obsessed Blush ) and one thing the outfit does have going for it is that its really, really comfortable.

Pictures are with the jeans (socks and no shoes, too lazy to fetch my trainers), not goth boots and tights and heeled boots and tights - I did also try with the green Jules jacket from last week jacket but that managed to look even worse, I think because of being cut colourwise in multiple places with the grey tights, fawn dress and green jacket.

I like the Richmond sausage dress! But I do think it needs a (forgive the four letter word) slip (a) to improve the "hang" and give a smoother look and (b) because of the see-throughness.

I prefer it with the tights - and either boots.

sonjadog · 07/03/2021 16:27

Hello! I was on the original thread but haven’t been here for while.

Today’s outfit: pinafore from Next, tights from Snag (I think), top from a shop that no longer exists.

PolarnOPirate · 07/03/2021 16:29

Hello! Today I’m wearing Tu leggings and M&S T-shirt dress (with pockets!). I have leopard and stripey, today I went for stripey. Croc flowery wellies, Barbour scarf and ugly NorthFace waterproof added when out for walk earlier. Will be following this thread as I desperately need an overhaul.

DwangelaForever · 07/03/2021 17:53

Thanks for the welcome guys 🥰 I do like tea dresses but don't have the confidence to wear them in the summer without tights, I wear them to work and I don't know why but I feel silly wearing dresses when not in work Confused

I tend to wear skinnies and jumpers casually.

ParisJeTAime · 07/03/2021 18:32

Evening all!

Sorry I've been MIA today. I've had a splitting headache and dcs are showing me no sympathy Grin. DH did take them out earlier today, but after that it was much disco dancing, playing in the garden etc as there really is only so long they can go out for walks with DH.

I've just flopped down on the sofa with some chocolate and my book, and I don't even care mwahaha!

@sonjadog, hello! I remember you and your amazing pinafore / dungaree selection!! Lovely to see you and that's a beautiful outfit. Frankly, I would have been disappointed if you hadn't been wearing a pinafore or dungarees Wink

@UntilYourNextHairBrainedScheme, I also like the Richmond sausage dress. Yes, maybe a slip or something underneath would help it hang better. Thank you for the update on boots and dirndl! Is dirndl dresses? German is not a language I have ever learnt...can you tell Wink?

For the record, I'm in joggers and a half tucked merino jumper over tshirt today! No photo due to collapsing on the sofa! Early night for me I think.

UntilYourNextHairBrainedScheme · 07/03/2021 18:46

sonjadog I love your outfit! You look great!

PolarnOPirate lots of inspiration here, welcome!

ParisJeTAime sorry, I put the link into my pist to explain what a Dirndl is (it links to an article with a big photo of a woman in a Dirndl with boots and another with court shoes at the top) but didn't make that clear! Dirndl is bavarian traditional dress for women - the female Lederhosen... People really still wear them, including younger people especially to beer festivals, beer gardens, but also to things like graduation ceremonies (tend to be half the graduation class in formal wear, half in traditional dress) weddings, church, family events... There are also very - erm - flirty - low cut ones, (its traditionally pretty low cut with a low cut bliuse for ypunger women anyway) and there are fashion trends within wearing traditional dress. I've never owned one but I've been told I should... DD had a (not low cut!) kids one when she was about 5 but hasn't wanted one since.

Hope the chocolate is helping your headache - I've had back ache today which only eases when I walk and gets worse when I sit, which feels unfair but I've been for two walks!

Thanks for the Richmond sausage dress feedback - ok, maybe worth one more go with a slip - only problem being I don't own one... Should I do more shopping? Blush I am actually aiming to do some in person bra shopping as I've changed size - our shops open on 15th, depending on local incidence numbers (we're below 50 locally so if it stays the same they'll open).

StCharlotte · 07/03/2021 19:46

Hi again UntilYourNextHairBrainedScheme. My half Austrian friend has a dirndl and looks amazing in it.

I imagine the bra shop will sell slips. I would recommend a full length one (as in top half). I have a couple of half slips and the black one gets loads of wear. I've had it since I was about 20 which is well over 30 years! It must be made of carbon or something!

Blyatiful · 07/03/2021 21:20

Just discovered this thread, and lovely to see all your outfits. Smile I went out to lunch with a friend today (we’re not in lockdown) and had no idea what to wear - yesterday it was snowing madly with a howling wind, so thought it would still be cold today, so we went for being bundled up with fleeces and a coat on top, going for cosy, rather than stylish. We sat in a semi-open terrace, and the sun was so hot that we discarded our coats and ended up sitting in tee shirts. I did wear my new boots though.

ParisJeTAime · 07/03/2021 21:29

Welcome @Blyatiful Smile! Love the boots! I imagine they work just as well for mild weather as very cold too.

Thanks for the Dirndl info @UntilYourNextHairBrainedScheme! Now you describe it, I think I can picture what you mean. I love that people still wear them too.

@UntilYourNextHairBrainedScheme - thank you for explaining what a dirndl is! I've learned something new today. I also like your jumper dress, my favourite look is with tights and boots. Agree with everyone about a slip underneath.
Welcome @Blyatiful, I like those boots.
@sonjadog, lovely pinafore, very nicely Syed too.
Welcome @DwangelaForever - I'm 5'4", not as short as you, but not tall either. I don't have any suggestions for you but I can recommend taking a selfie of your outfits. In doing so for this thread I'm really seeing what looks suit me. And I'm surprised that it's not what I've always thought....

alphaechokiwi · 08/03/2021 15:06

Today I'm wearing slouchy cords from Poetry (16), cream longline vest (XL) and jumper from Toast via eBay (XL)

Crap pic, but I'm in this blue, cotton shirt dress from Only Carmokona (sp?). Wearing with navy, Sinophant leggings and red canvas fitflop trainers. Had a jacket on outdoors.
