Yes, I find Clark's too expensive for what it is now. Kids' school shoes from there don't really last all that well either.

That said, my not goth boots are from Clark's and they weren't expensive in the JL sale. I've found them great quality and comfy from first wear. I was considering the Whistles Asher boots instead and was dubious about the Clark's ones, as they were so much cheaper. But I've been really pleased with them. But full price...probably not. I'd have gone for the Whistles ones I think.

Also, the not goth boots got some awful reviews on the Clark's website. People saying things like, the insoles were stuck in completely wrong and they took ages to break in. I must have got quite lucky with mine. I'd ordered mine from JL where the reviews were good, before I saw the reviews on the Clark's website. I might actually not have ordered them if I'd seen them, so glad I didn't.

ParisJeTAime I just looked at allbirds - a really similar concept to Gliesswein isn't it? Arg now I fancy trying the treebreezers AngryBlushGrin I'll try to resist though!

The Gliesswein sneakers arrived (I got the light grey) and I'm pleased so far - hopefully they'll be my every day shoes now... They're work suitable, I just hope they're comfortable when I'm on my feet all day, but only time will tell. My 13 year old said "oh cool shoes" without any prompting anyway Grin and they were comfortable on a shortish bike ride (he's the only one still homeschooling so I decided to drag him out on a bike ride in his free lesson).

StCharlotte I gave up on Clarks years ago when I was excited about getting some as dc2's school shoes, remembering them as the UK sturdy school shoe gold standard, and they fell spart in a week! He was hard on shoes at primary age but that was on a par with the cheapest tat, so we went back to Salomon. Clarks weren't cheap even then - unless the quality has improved they can't be worth a price hike into a higher price category!

StCharlotte · 20/04/2021 13:51

I never had Clarks as an adult until my 30s when I discovered their range of ankle boots. They were always school shoes to me and my mother insisted on them as she didn't want me to get bunions. Guess who had bunion surgery at 14!

Once I was buying my own shoes I spent the rest of my teens, 20s and 30s wearing stilettos. Out of spite!

greyinganddecaying · 20/04/2021 13:55

Thanks for all the denim shirt recommendations from last week - I looked everywhere and in the end decided to bite the bullet & splash out on the Levi's version Shock

I'd put it in my basket, then a few days later they sent me a 10% off & free delivery code which swayed me!

It's arrived today and it's perfect - fits me really well (it's rare that I can say that these days!) and I'm really pleased with it 🙂

ParisJeTAime · 20/04/2021 14:22

Ah glad you found one you love @greyinganddecaying Smile. You were actively on the hunt for a denim shirt, so the 10% was probably just an added bonus.

I was window shopping in Cos the other day and put something I did NOT need in my basket. They sent me a 20% off code, the bastards. But I didn't cave...this time Grin

Bugger. Now I've seen these. They would be worn a lot so I'd get value per wear. Please tell me they're hideous.

www.clarks.co.uk/c/Hero-Brogue/p/26149394

Glad to hear about your Levis shirt @greyinganddecaying - it's lovely when something lives up to your expectations.
Will we get a picture?

ParisJeTAime · 20/04/2021 18:24

Those are lovely Charlotte...I mean, yuk, hideous, disguuuuusting Grin

I've been in my new Allbird Treebreezers most of the day. They are comfy. I did a grocery shop, plus walk to and from the shop and also the school pick up today in them. They are quite bouncy for walking and I swear the walk to school was quicker in them this afternoon. I'm wearing them without socks. My only concern is that they might go a bit...stinky Blush. However, they are machine washable, so maybe not too bad. The insoles are wool I think, so I didn't have cold feet at all in them today. The weather was quite good though, so it could be that too.

My Giessweins are on their way too! Now eyeing the grey and hoping I made the right choice of colour. I think I did though. I don't wear much grey and do wear a lot of blue.

I'm quite a big fan of Clarks shoes tbh, I've some boots and shoes from their that have lasted 6 years or so now. I always get the real leather ones.

Back from my holiday! Weather has been glorious last few days. We were doing outdoorsy stuff anyway due to Covid restrictions but I just took a selection of jeans and tshirts, nothing exciting.

Came back to some new wide leg trousers from H&M, incredibly comfy and only £12.99, I went back to get them in the other colours but they are a bit light for me.

ParisJeTAime · 22/04/2021 09:02

Oh that's so lovely you've had a holiday @LivingDeadGirlUK! I am trying to plan ours for August at the moment. Maybe visiting family in Ireland, but we'll hire our own place.

I'm wearing the same as yesterday, but with a tank top instead of the shirt, Sienna (M&S, 18, L) jeans instead of leggings and trainers. May post a pic later, but it isn't terribly exciting. Just running errands and having a walk today.

OP posts:
ParisJeTAime · 22/04/2021 15:53

My Giesswein cross trainers arrived today. They are lovely (to me), but they are a practical trainer for not-too-rough hiking, rather than for fashion.

I wore them to run errands this morning, (I planned to wear my old trainers and then they arrived, as if by fate Grin, but actually by Fed Ex). Then I wore them for a few miles walk along stone paths and roads and also wore for school pickup just now.

I am a fan! But I think they need some breaking in. One bit rubbed a little bit and my feet have that "I've done a bit of walking today" feeling. So they aren't perfect from first wear. But I've never met a pair of hiking footwear who are tbh.

Can I join? I'm very much plus size (at least a size 22, and only 5 ft 4). I try to dress nicely and wear nice things, but unfortunately they don't often look nice on me.

ParisJeTAime · 22/04/2021 17:40

Welcome @WonkyWhiteLavender Smile. Come on in, pull up a pew, grab a drink etc Grin

I bet you look nicer than you think! We are very hard on ourselves, as the entire S&B board shows tbh.

Thank you! I'm currently planning an outfit for a work "night out".. So I am thinking dark grey jeans with a dark grey layered top, grey fitted Jersey blazer, orange Dr Martens, and have ordered this bag to go with it.. Will accessorise with silver jewellery.

That sounds amazing and I love the sound of the colours - autumn leaves against a grey sky!

Welcome WonkyWhiteLavender - I like the bag.

Oh that's so lovely you've had a holiday @LivingDeadGirlUK! I am trying to plan ours for August at the moment. Maybe visiting family in Ireland, but we'll hire our own place.

@ParisJeTAime Ireland is a bloody nightmare to pack for isn't it? We've had torrential bridge-busting floods and heatstroke in the same week. Definitely needs the full luggage allowance! We've got a week booked there in August but Ireland is being verrry slow to unlock...

ParisJeTAime · 22/04/2021 18:56

YY @StCharlotte. Someone told me today that August is Ireland's wettest month! Although, dh and I had our wedding in NI and the weather was uncharacteristically lovely Grin

Yes, the opening up issue might mean we go to NI instead of ROI, but will have to see!

I'm in jeans and a nerdy T-shirt again today. It's forecast to be really hot but I'm not prepared, my lets are like a yetti Blush Will need to sort it out on the weekend.

ParisJeTAime · 23/04/2021 08:42

Tbh @LivingDeadGirlUK, unless you're going to see people close up, indoors, you'd probably get away with it! Think we're all yetis at the mo Grin

It's meant to get to 17° here. So, warm, but probably will still need a cardi I think? I'm crap at temperatures, but I usually err on the side of assuming I will be cold, as I normally am Hmm. Of course, when the 30° shows up in July, I'll be moaning it's too hot Blush

Not dressed yet, but might go for a long skirt and ballet flats.

OP posts:
ParisJeTAime · 23/04/2021 11:01

No sign of warm weather here yet, but it isn't cold either.

I'm hedging my best and going for layers!

Dress, 18T, Asos
Teal merino v neck, Men's XL, M&S
Navy snags

Will either wear Seasalt, brown knee boots or Allbirds Treebreezers, depending on what we get up to.

I love that jumper @ParisJeTAime! I think I need to investigate M&S for next winter, hedging my bets on not needing a new wollie till then.

ParisJeTAime · 23/04/2021 17:33

Thanks @LivingDeadGirlUK. It's a menswear one, as I prefer men's jumpers! Hate sleeves being too short and sometimes I prefer jumpers which are longer in length too, which men's tend to be.

I hope you're right! I also refuse to buy any more wintry clothes now. It's summer soon damn it Grin. I think I'm building up summer too much tbf...in my head it will all be socialising all the time and endless bbqs with friends and gorgeous walks on the beach. In reality, it will be the same as usual, but I'll be complaining it's too hot instead of too cold Confused

Morning everyone! Much excitement chez Charlotte today. I've been for a pedicure this morning which was just lovely. And now we're going for a pub lunch. Don't want to smudge my toes so need to wear sandals. Fortunately the weather seems to be playing ball. Wearing a top you've seen before with "treggings" from Sainsbury's and Uggs. Ha ha fooled you! They're Ugg sandals! They were reduced from £130 to £28 at the Ugg outlet shop at Gunwharf Quays.

I love that red top Smile

ParisJeTAime · 24/04/2021 14:21

Fab outfit @StCharlotte! That is extremely exciting and I'm a bit Envy of your pedicure and pub lunch Grin. Sounds amazing!

We are going to a local climbing wall this afternoon and have been for a walk and picnic at the park already.

Not wearing anything exciting enough to post about today, but I'm tempted to change tbh, to make the most of the warm weather! It was a bit chilly earlier, but warming up now.
