Wow, Hare, you look lovely. Enjoy your day off.Wearing jeans and a T-shirt today for errands and cooking. Really not worth a photo. The hunt for wedding appropriate but not mother of the bride attire goes on

greyinganddecaying · 14/04/2021 15:40

Hi all - does anyone have any denim shirt recommendations? I'm tempted by the Levi's shirt but it's £70 & I'm not sure it's worth it.

UntilYourNextHairBrainedScheme · 15/04/2021 09:00

Zebracat thanks GrinBlushBlush

Off to work in an hour so in my "uniform" of longline vest top underneath one of my White stuff jersey shirts (sage green one today).

greyinganddecaying I don't have a denim shirt but have shirts I love from The White Stuff, and they have a denim shirt reduced from £49 to £30 if an 18 would be the right size - 16, 20 and 22 are sold out.
www.whitestuff.com/womens/shirts-and-blouses/blue-mlt-romy-denim-shirt/
Next also have lots at around £30 - I have other denim from Next I'm happy with, so I think that'd be a reasonable place to try if you don't want to splash out on Levi type prices. Otherwise Monsoon maybe, but that's only going to be a bit cheaper than Levi and might not be what you want if you want a simple shirt rather than an embroidered blouse. I have a denim dress I love from Monsoon but not a shirt.

LivingDeadGirlUK · 15/04/2021 10:31

Went AWOL again, it was because my bedroom was too much of a state to take pics Blush saying that I'm in jeans and a purple top you have all seen before today!

I've been selling my clothes on Vinted, its a bit slow compared to Ebay but there are no seller fees so its making it worth while to list the tshirts etc that will only go for a couple of quid. I've made £140, which I'm hoping to spend on my next Stitch fix box assuming the stuff in there is nice. At the moment I have no warm weather size 18 bottoms, so I've asked them to focus on that.

I'm going on holiday next week :D Glamping, weather looking ok, hopefully a few pub lunches or such where I can wear a bit more than my usual walking gear.

I had a nice one from GAP a while ago, not sure if they are still in stock.
ParisJeTAime · 15/04/2021 10:34

Hey all!

Not much to post by way of pictures, as I've been in jeans and jumper most days! It's just not there yet in terms of warn weather. So, practicality is winning out at the moment!

@greyinganddecaying, I don't have a denim shirt actually! They don't really suit me. In fact I don't suit shirts really, unless they're v longline and flowy with no collar.

@UntilYourNextHairBrainedScheme, love your day off outfit!

I just went out for brunch and wore these with a black top, wine leather jacket and black suede ankle boots.

ParisJeTAime · 15/04/2021 14:42

Oh so exciting that brunch out is finally allowed!! Hope you had a good one @SwimBaby

I have the Hush harem pants, which are pretty lightweight, so haven't worn them yet this year, as it's been a bit too cold.

OP posts:
SwimBaby · 15/04/2021 14:44

I have quite a few Hush bit waiting to be worn too.

LivingDeadGirlUK · 15/04/2021 17:12

Hush seems to be a bit of a love/hate brand, its either amazing or terrible according to the Mumsnet hive mind.

ParisJeTAime · 15/04/2021 19:10

I've had a mixed bag with Hush tbh. I think the quality and fabric can vary a lot between pieces. Also, the sizing is a bit bonkers. Usually very large, but occasionally not so you never know which you might get!

But, two of my all time favourite items in my wardrobe are from Hush! A tshirt and the Harems.

I have had casual, day dresses from there too, but wasn't in love with them. I think they do stuff which would work in a casual-ish office too, but I wouldn't use those as I am a SAHM.

SwimBaby · 15/04/2021 19:19

I’ve just started shopping there as needed some new clothes that suit my lifestyle. I needed clothes for going out walking and then stopping for a pub lunch and some casual outfits for shopping/coffees etc. I’m 52 and have always bought really cheap clothes (I don’t know why) and it was this years New Years resolution to spend a bit more on clothes. I also needed some more covered up clothes and I’ve had quite a few cancerous moles removed. So I ordered 48 items from Hush and kept 13. I’ve come up with some good outfits.

greyinganddecaying · 15/04/2021 22:18

Thanks for the denim shirt ideas all - I'm going to have a look through tomorrow Smile

StCharlotte · 16/04/2021 18:48

I'm going on holiday next week How exciting! Have a lovely time Smile

I can't wait until I can say that again!

I'm wearing this White Stuff dress today with opaques and boots.

www.johnlewis.com/white-stuff-sophie-shift-dress-dark-navy/p5353695

Awful hair accessorised with a bulldog clip (it was all I could find at work Grin).

ParisJeTAime · 16/04/2021 22:00

Maybe you'll start a trend @StCharlotte! I have definitely put pencils in my hair to hold it up when having a crap hair day!

Jeans and jumper for me again today! But, excitingly, (for me), I've ordered some new ballet pumps which I've been looking at for AGES. I've sold some things on eBay, so felt I could justify it. The new shoes mean I can get rid of at least three other pairs, which I like. Trying to be more minimalist, but I'll never be one of the ones I love watching on YouTube sadly. Although, I really think they need some non skinny, minimalist influencers on there tbh!

OP posts:
LivingDeadGirlUK · 17/04/2021 13:43

I agree totally @ParisJeTAime re a lack of non skinny influencers/youtubers. I quite like Lucy Wood but she has stopped doing fashion vids now mainly to try and be less consumery. I also used to like Helen Anderson because she had an alternative vibe but she just buys everything from ASOS now.

UntilYourNextHairBrainedScheme · 17/04/2021 14:19

I can honestly say I have never watched an influencer of any body shape on YouTube or anywhere similar, and couldn't name one... Then again perhaps that's why I'm not very clued up or fashionable Grin

My fruitless bra/ Bikini top search gpes on - how did a 90 J (should be a UK 38 GG) manage to be too small in the cups ASOS?! I'm not that well endowed and my cheap George at Asda 36 G bras are too big Confused

I'm starting to think I have to actually just order from George at Asda again Grin Maybe I have economy supermarket breasts Blush

I'd stopped ordering much from the UK because of delays and customs charges but maybe only cheap UK supermarkets accommodate my dimensions Sad

As a last ditch attempt (after sending back all of an ASOS order with arange of brands and sizes) I've ordered a 56€ bra from a German site I finally found... If it fits I'll order one of each thing they stock Grin

ParisJeTAime · 18/04/2021 10:41

@UntilYourNextHairBrainedScheme, there is one who I love, (she is a young mum and extreme minimalist - she gets by with so little! I feel a bit ashamed tbh in comparison Blush). Anyway, she made me think of you as she is based somewhere in Germany, (I think maybe Berlin or Munich). She is Swiss originally, but her accent sounds quite similar to a German accent to me. She is called Ecofriend.Lia. She is great. Very petite and slim, as they all are.

Anyway, here I am, having discussed Hush recently with @SwimBaby Smile, in my favourite Hush items:

Tshirt, Hush, L
Harems, Hush, 16
Tank underneath, Gap...but Hush do a very similar one, XL

Excuse bottles of bleach and Cheeky Wipes boxes! I would normally edit them out, but then you wouldn't be able to see my lovely harems!

Well. Maybe the weather is finally warming up now? I hope so because I've been to the pub twice and I felt a bit of a berk walking down the road in bright warm sunshine wearing a fake fur coat Grin

I can't wait until I don't have to wear socks any more!

ParisJeTAime · 19/04/2021 08:58

Oh I really hope so @StCharlotte! It is a beautiful morning here today! It's so exciting.

Here I am in cream, longline shirt from M&S and grey GF jeans from Sainsbury's. Considering a half tuck as the shirt feels a bit flappy. Will mess around with it a bit or put a jumper over the top if it's cold.

Nice shirt (I have one very similar Grin)

ParisJeTAime · 20/04/2021 07:44

New shoes are arriving today! Very excited. They're only ballet flats, (which I hear are back in fashion and anyway, I like them so don't care if they aren't). But they're naice ballet flats, so definitely a treat purchase.

They are replacing other pairs of shoes which I'm putting into stop-gap storage in my loft before I decide whether to donate, sell or keep.

OP posts:
UntilYourNextHairBrainedScheme · 20/04/2021 08:02

Yay for new shoes Paris - ballet flats always look nice on other people but my feet don't seem to get on with them - they look as though they should be really comfortable but when I've had them in the past I've always ended up with painful feet. Too little support maybe, no idea, I have weird feet though!

I have Gliesswein Merino wool sneakers coming today. I like the idea they're actually advertised as suitable for mashine washing and wearing without socks because supposedly the merino works like socks so they don't get stinky (and if they do you can wash them) but we'll see...

ParisJeTAime · 20/04/2021 08:29

Omg I am also getting those sneakers @UntilYourNextHairBrainedScheme! I ordered them last week. The dark blue ones. What colour are you getting?

These ballet flats are Allbirds and they have some arch support. I'm wearing them now and they do feel comfy.

Like the Giesswein ones, they are also machine washable which makes me happy!

OP posts:
StCharlotte · 20/04/2021 08:36

I cannot justify buying a single pair of shoes (call me Imelda). I have several pairs I bought last year that I haven't even worn.

There's a Clarks that I pass daily with a range of lovely trainers in their window (no prices showing). The only reason I haven't been in is that Clarks have suddenly become totally unaffordable. They used to be my first stop for a payday impulse buy. No longer.
