Deathraystare my 13 year old needs a nudge to shower daily, to do his homeschooling work fully not just the bare minimum, and to get outside, but no angst really, just amiably lazy ... My nearly 16 year old is alarmingly naice and possibly better at being an adult than me - she has rather middle aged hobbies - sewing, painting, gardening, work out videos - DH actually tried to encourage her to go to a mildly unsuitable party she was invited to (200 meters down the road so easy to get home if she was unhappy or to retrieve her if not home in time, we've known the parents since toddlers group when she was 2 years old) but she didn't want to as she'd only have known the boy who invited her - whom she gets on well with an has known since she was 2 ... Shock She did avoid speaking to me in front of some teens doing driving theory lessons with her the other day out of embarrassment when I greeted her in English (we're in Germany) so that's mildly teen angsty, but only mildly as she said hi and walked with me, just wouldn't speak til we were in my car (its ingrained at a cellular level in my children that they don't speak German to me, I don't think she could have forced herself to do that so she was stuck if she was embarrassed to speak English Grin ).

How are the fitflips to walk in? I had a look when they were suggested on another thread too, but wouldn't want to spend that amount unless they're really comfortable not only sitting but standing and walking most of the day.

UntilYourNextHairBrainedScheme · 31/03/2021 11:32

JimmyJabs those trousers look lovely and breezy!

I'm wearing the same denim skirt as yesterday (Next) with my The White Stuff 3/4 sleeve pale blue and white Jersey shirt. Sitting in the garden atm but off to work in half an hour and will be there until tomorrow mid morning. Solo shift from 8pm til 10am too - shift planning has been done completely stupidly recently, too many people in the afternoon, too few when there's actually more to do. Hmpf. May need to make a fuss as a couple of colleagues are taking the piss doing overtime at quiet times unnecessarily, leaving busy times under staffed as they have done their hours, very I'm alright Jack...

I wore my monsoon denim dress to work on Monday and was pleased it was perfectly practical -aslong as there are load bearing pockets think I can be a tiny bit more varied than only jeans during warmer weather Grin

ParisJeTAime · 31/03/2021 15:22

Ah your dd sounds great @UntilYourNextHairBrainedScheme! I mentioned this on another thread ages ago and was (rightly) mocked for it Grin, but when I was 18, I once went to a club in my dad's jumper and read a book instead of dancing Blush. I'd brought it in my handbag!

Anyway, I just wanted to show you this new tshirt and tank top I got from Gap. If anyone is on the large side boob wise and is also tall, I think these are great. The range is 'the modern' and they do a tall length, which is what I have. I could only get white as other sizes sold out, but I would buy them again.

So I'm off out again today, although just into the city center. I'm loving my bootcut jeans, why did these ever go 'out'? So much more comfy than skinny jeans!

ParisJeTAime · 01/04/2021 08:55

Totally agree @LivingDeadGirlUK! I'm never going back to skinnies! It's that bit around one's ankles. So nice having some air round there for some reason!

Not dressed yet. Will post when I am.

OP posts:
ParisJeTAime · 01/04/2021 10:49

Here I am:

Tshirt, Gap, L
Girlfriend jeans, Tu, 18
Tank top, Gap, XL Tall

Perhaps not the most stylish, but it's comfy and weather appropriate. Not sure what to expect weather wise, so I've hedged my bets!

You look lovely , Paris. You might need sleeves though! I just put a jumper on . Clothes dull for photos, but als9 can’t seem to post if I includ3 a photo.

JimmyJabs · 01/04/2021 10:55

I'm not wearing anything I haven't posted before, so no picture today. I like those jeans ParisJeTaime - a nice alternative to the mom style. Tbh I hate the name "boyfriend" to describe jeans but at least it makes a sort of irritating sense (it looks like you're wearing your boyfriend's jeans). What does "girlfriend" even mean in this context?? Do women who are someone's girlfriend wear different kinds of jeans to those who aren't? I've made myself all annoyed now so I'm going to have a hot cross bun with lots of butter 😁

ParisJeTAime · 01/04/2021 11:07

Haha @JimmyJabs! I have no idea why they're called girlfriend! They are just straight leg jeans, but maybe a bit more relaxed? Also cropped, but that might just be this pair. No idea what relevance this has to girlfriends!

Ah thanks @Zebracat! I've got a blush pink merino v neck, I can put over the top. Will stick on my mot goth boots when I go out too.

Just for a laugh, this is me wearing some Dad jeans I bought in Topshop last year when they were closing. I couldn't try them on in the shop and I think it shows... they just don't work, do they? Perhaps if they'd been longer, but even then they are not doing anything for my thighs. I wish I was better at sensing what things will look like "on"!

ParisJeTAime · 01/04/2021 12:00

I didn't even know Dad jeans were a thing Grin!! Who knew?! No, those aren't my favourites on you @JimmyJabs. Hard to resist a closing down sale though!

Can I have some honest opinions please on this jumper? It's a bit more fitted than I'd normally go for and a different colour for me, which I really like, but which I'm not entirely sure about.

It's difficult to tell exactly because of not being able to see your hair colour but I think it's a nice fit and I would wear it (we're quite similar in shape). If you're brunette I reckon the colour would work but if you're blonde it might all be a bit too much the same tone, iyswim.

Zebracat · 01/04/2021 23:06

It is a lovely shape. I think it’s just dark enough to stop you looking naked from a distance.

ParisJeTAime · 01/04/2021 23:19

Thanks both! I do think it is a tad close to my skin tone, so I could definitely look half dressed in it... I'm still thinking about it.

Hulloooo! Hope we all enjoyed the long weekend. We actually did manage to catch up with some friends and family which was just lovely.

Back to the office full time from today. Just about to leave...

There's a casual dress code for now so I've compromised. I'm out of the leggings but it's hardly an executive outfit. It's the Manteray dress I bought recently with tights and boots. Looking forward to saving some money now I'm unavailable for deliveries Grin

Have curled hair which will no doubt he poker straight again by the time I get there.

Incidentally DH broke the door off his wardrobe last week and asked if I'd clear one half of our fitted wardrobe for him. Oh how I laughed!

ParisJeTAime · 06/04/2021 10:38

Hi all!

Grin @StCharlotte. Paws off and get your own wardrobe MrCharlotte Wink.

Here I am, in boring personal uniform!

Girlfriend jeans, Tu, 16
Merino v-neck, M&S, Men's L

JimmyJabs · 06/04/2021 10:50

Hi all. I was in very boring, standard dress all weekend so I didn't feel it was worth posting about. I'm still looking quite basic, tbh, but it's cold and I'm having to work this week despite most of my team being on leave, so snappy dressing has slipped down the list!
TU bootcut jeans, and a long sleeved top, M&S, worn under a short sleeved cashmere sweater, also M&S.

This is probably going to be my last post for a while. I've realised from photographing myself and editing the pics that I'm really unhappy with how I look at the moment and my size. I'm not wearing the sorts of things I want to and I'm acutely conscious of what I look like all the time when go outside. I think I do need to take my weight in hand and try to lose some. I still hope to follow the thread and take inspiration from what you're all wearing, and I do think you all look great, but I seem unable to see myself the same way, unfortunately.

UntilYourNextHairBrainedScheme · 06/04/2021 12:21

JimmyJabs don't leave! I've been losing weight for the last 8 months and its really only possible imo while feeling positive, which for many of us on here I'd guess includes about our clothing! I think you look great in your outfits including the cozy one with bootleg jeans - shapely not fat!

Paris I think I've evolved a work uniform recently - I've always worn jeans but have found the styles that work for me and more recently the top option - jersey shirts from the White Stuff seem to hit the sweet spot of practical but just a tiny bit smarter than a t shirt, and I've been getting some compliments (from colleagues, not just the rather enthusiastically friendly and complimentary among the clients!)

ParisJeTAime · 06/04/2021 13:22

Yes, I definitely agree with those sentiments @UntilYourNextHairBrainedScheme! However, if you don't feel like posting pics, that is completely fine. It really isn't essential! But do stay and enjoy the chat if you want to Smile

I love having a 'uniform' until! Just makes getting dressed so easy.

I can’t seem to post photos currently which is a shame as I have actually sometimes moved away from the trackie bottoms. Even though it is taters here today, spring is coming and we all have that to dress for. I have been thinking I should get the summer stuff out ,but we are in an actual blizzard right now.
Don’t stop , Jimmy jabs, I love your clothes.

ParisJeTAime · 07/04/2021 09:47

Morning!

Still working with my now VERY small wardrobe and enjoying it a lot.

I am in the same, (M&S, mens range*), merino v neck. This time tucked into a denim, midi skirt from Asos. Cosy! I might add a skinny black leather belt too.

*I prefer mens jumpers and always have! Even when a lot slimmer. I am tall and these have more length in the sleeves and body than womens. In M&S they also do a long length for mens knits, which is what this is. It is more practical for coverage and warmth.

@UntilYourNextHairBrainedScheme

HI. The Fitflops looked narrow but amazingly fitted my wide feet. They are very comfy. I have them in navy suede with red inner lining.
