Hello!

Following on from our previous thread, here is a shiny new one to see us through Spring / Summer and maybe beyond!

Feel free to join. We are very friendly and size inclusive.

I'm trying to trim down my wardrobe too, its been a slow process but there is a youtuber called Asmallwardrobe who I really like, her style is very different to mine but she has some really good videos on how to focus on dressing for your real life, not your fantasy self.

I've gone from goth to emo today, wearing some black skinny jeans and a purple v neck t shirt for mooching about the house. I've got my studded belt on too, it could well be 2002... No pics until my partner clears up all his clothes from the bedroom floor :p

This leather jacket was mine before I had kids, it's been in DD's wardrobe but she barely wore it (it also had a small rip) sent it off to be repaired and DD are going to share it now

I'm making an effort to wear something other than jeans on days off (I worked thevlast two weekends, finally off this weekend) also the fact remains jeans are usually the most practical choice for my real life as opposed to fantasy life, well put LivingDeadGirlUK / ASmallWardrobe blogger been to a garden center today to replace dead hedge in the garden - took DD as she's the gardener in the family and paid her for planting the new hedge plants in house plants for her room

Not sure how it happened, but I was having a try on session and ended up keeping most skirts and dresses and getting rid of jeans, which was the opposite of what I intended! But it's starting to come together I think. I was looking through my wardrobe today and thought, yeah, I can make outfits out of all of those things and it is looking quite neat and even more sparse than before, which makes me weirdly happy .

I'm back in leggings, as I'm either going for a run or going on my spin bike, (depending on how quickly my sports bra dries after being washed - can't run without a sports bra. It would be almost as uncomfortable as going on a camel ride, braless )

I'm never going to be a minimalist, but since being home all the bloody time I've found a bit of decluttering really helps the mood.

I feel a bit cheated because I've never been home - the pandemic has been rather opposite day (as my youngest would say) for me and I've been at work more instead of less, but with at least one child always homeschooling... [Stamps foot belligerently]

That is annoying @UntilYourNextHairBrainedScheme! I know when all my childless/childfree friends were telling me what they were up to during lockdown I was a bit . But I think everyone is now at the end of their tether with it all tbh. Extra tough for people in caring professions though! You must have the added worry about the people you care for too.

I'm really enjoying the decluttering and watching the decluttering videos on youtube too! I actually feel as if I am getting so much out of getting rid of things and I don't really know why 🤔. I'm sure there's some deep, spiritual reason....or it's something to do when I'm feeling boooooooored of lockdown

Thanks for sympathising ParisJeTAime - in fact I know its psychologically healthier to be going to work outside the home, but I get fed up of the narrative that everyone is cozy but bored at home all the time!

The homeschooling is a double whammy as nobody else on my team has kids under 18 living with them - one divorced dad, one has one 18 year old student child at home, one has fully launched adult children living away and the rest are child free. I'm usually homeschooling my 9 year old (with a bit of checking in on and chivvying the teens) either before or after an 8-12 hour shift.

Still it's probably easier than having toddlers and homeschooling a primary age child and studying like you. I was studying in my final year of a vocational career change degree, working shifts outside the home and homeschooling in the chaotic early phase during the first lockdown this time last year, and it nearly killed me. What are you studying ParisJeTAime ?

No challenge today as I was Out. And. About. Oh yes.

I used to have dozens of skirts but ditched a load in my last purge a couple of weekends ago. Including some that are much loved but never worn. I'm all about the leggings dresses now.

Oh leggings, you are my love! I could write poetry about leggings, I love them so much. Where were you Out And About Charlotte?! A real live outing!!! I'm excited on your behalf.

Thank you @UntilYourNextHairBrainedScheme! My studying has been...sporadic (read non existent) recently 😬. Slightly worrying. I am studying towards a Maths degree! I am doing it part time from home. Just in my first year and it's quite introductory at the moment, but I really need to be a bit more disciplined. Next academic year will be harder.

I also was out and about today, defying received fashion wisdom about not wearing horizontal stripes when you're plus sized. I felt like everything I put on today was screaming "Look at my hips!" so almost didn't post.

You look great in the stripes @JimmyJabs! Pah to those old fashion rules I say. I used to especially hate "plus size should never wear oversized". Watch me !

Here I am in a jumper which I shrunk in the wash 🤦‍♀️. I'm calling it cropped . Anyway, it's a mens lambswool one from Uniqlo.

A bright electric blue 'fruit of the loom' t shirt from Amazon and Ruth Langsford straight jeans from QVC. Glad I ordered the 20! Don't think 18 would have stretched enough! Rather excited as I have got her 'sunset red' jeans and jacket too!

I must say, I feel a bit rejuvenated by my wardrobe clear out. It is super sparse, but, as the cliché goes, I feel as if I have more to wear as a result of having fewer clothes!

I mean, obviously, I've put them all in my loft, because on some level, I'm terrified of having a very small wardrobe. But still!

Second attempt at posting this, after I put it on another random thread I was following 🥴
I put this on because the weather forecast said it was going to be warm, but it really isn't and I might have to go and get changed in a minute.
The chinos were from White Stuff and the jumper thing is Paul Smith. I have quite a lot of things from there and from Ted Baker because I live near an outlet village, where everything is reduced. Just wanted to explain in case anyone thought I was being all Aspirational!

I'm still reeling in the excitement of that thread being picked up by the DM, its my only claim to fame.

It's so warm now. I even took of my tights this PM and got my (very pale) legs out. So excited! Summer feels so close now woohoo!

PS: I'm envious of your trip to London @LivingDeadGirlUK! Although, I can probably do that soon? Can I? God knows. I have no idea what the rules even are any more.

Just once Id like my kids to act like typical teens and not all apoear in the living room as soon as I walk into it at 7:30am in the holidays - I can't remember when I was last in a room alone aside from the bathroom for more than 30 seconds, anyone would think they were toddlers. I feel constantly guilty for not paying attention to them but I've only got today off this week, and am working every weekend in April, and I'd like some time to myself

I was wearing the skirt DD sewed me earlier, tilI spilled coffee on it not doing well today despite the beautiful weather!

The brief spell of warmth has arrived! These are lightweight trousers from H&M and a t-shirt from Tommy Hilfiger via a charity shop, I think, although I've had it for years and I can't quite remember buying it. I was looking at Facebook memories earlier and I was at the seaside two years ago today, which I think must have made me feel subconsciously nautical...

Ah @UntilYourNextHairBrainedScheme, it's tough at the moment! Especially where you are with homeschooling continuing for a bit. I can definitely relate to not ever having space. We live in the SE England, and our house is teeny. I am dreading the kids getting older. We will be on top of one another all the damn time! It's ok when they're little as you sort of expect it.

@JimmyJabs, love that. There is something about Tommy Hilfiger breton / stripes! They do it so well. One of my favourite ever dresses, which I got too fat for and had to donate, was a Tommy Hilfiger, satin skater dress, all red, navy and gold stripes. Sigh and swoon. Maybe one day I'll go back to 🇺🇲 and get another one cheaply

Bit brave, but I'm wearing with nude, suede sandals from Office! Getting a little carried away here with the weather, but whatever

I love this Kimono, but it always slides out of place. I'm thinking of putting a button on it, or maybe some poppers, to hold it, but I'm not the best sewer... will watch some youtube videos or something.
