I'm still in my PJ's after a nightmare day at work, paired with back pain and just feeling pretty crap.

I def feel worse for staying in my PJ's, hopefully if I end up in this situation again it will push me to get dressed!

ParisJeTAime · 15/03/2021 17:08

Oh no, sorry @LivingDeadGirlUK. Yes, sometimes I lose the will to get dressed. This is why God invented leggings Grin

LivingDeadGirlUK sorry you've had a shitty day Flowers

I have made everyone get up and dressed every day without exception - up by 7am and dressed before 7:30 on homeschooling days, but also dressed before midday at weekends (kids - I shower and dress before waking the kids during the week and just never ever go downstairs in sleepwear - scared by teenage memories of my mother in a onesie, blazing the trail long before they were popular Blush), and I make the kids including teens leave the house and do something outside every day if its dry, or every second day if its raining for days on end, when homeschooling Grin

Bit old fashioned but I'm pretty sure its part of the reason they're all still doing perfectly well psychologically even though the middle one falls between the primary and ex year priority groups do has only been to school for about 3 months in total (mainly September to Christmas) out of the last twelve months...

I am still quite clueless and boring about clothes, but I do think its psychologically healthy to get dressed in something that you'd be ok answering the door in every day, and I haven't had a day without a bra since Ibwas in hospital recovering from my last ceasarean nearly 10 years ago - which is probably why I'm overly invested in my current hopeless quest to buy new bras that really fit!

Our shops have been open a week and are going to switch to "by appointment" from Wednesday due to skyrocketing incidence numbers, d'oh... I did manage to visit several furniture shops and huge department stores with clients/ residents who needed new furniture last week though, and help them spend money replacing broken or wardrobes etc. which was sort of fun... Grin

ParisJeTAime · 15/03/2021 17:47

How is your bra quest going @UntilYourNextHairBrainedScheme?!

Oh God, I have my braless moments for sure! I used to go out for nights out sans bra, so it doesn't even seem slobby in my head.

Lounge bras are my new passion though. I really recommend one from Bravissimo, which has no wires and wide straps. It is called a Nova Lounge bra. It almost looks like a cropped wrap top, but it supports like a proper bra. I appreciate this may be utterly useless in Germany though!

Lol, yes, I remember seeing my parents in their nightwear and dressing gowns seeming totally abhorrent to me when I was little and like cringe myself inside out disgusting when I was a teenager! I actually hate wearing dressing gowns now as well. Wonder if that's why?

OP posts:
UntilYourNextHairBrainedScheme · 15/03/2021 18:16

ParisJeTAime as a dressing gown alternative (I hate them too, I associate them with feeling ill) I have this www.johnlewis.com/hush-longling-zip-hoodie-ecru/p5149725 calf length hoodie from Hush. I occassionally put it on over leggings and a jumper if I've had a bath in the afternoon (with a bra Grin ) but really I have it for the one night per week I sleep at work - I sometimes actually sleep in it at work over the uniqlo thermals and M&S "loungewear" I sleep in at work, as I'm weird about the room having been slept in by colleagues the previous night and sleep with the window open year round Blush but even when its not freezing its perfect to throw over loungewear when woken up by middle of the night illness/ rowdyness / more serious dramas which I need to get up and sort.

Given up on the bra search atm - have been at work a lot since Friday and all weekend, and now the shops are semi closing again! I was planning to go to an out of town outlet village during my midweek time off (at least they have a Triumph outlet store, notbsure what else) but it seems I've probably missed the window. I'm wearing "interim" bras I bought online from George at Asda Grin tightened on the straps as far as possible and on the tightest setting and they're okay for now... Perhaps I'll wait until I get to my goal of a healthy BMI and go on a bra buying weekend break to somewhere with proper bra shops, and buy the best bras in the world then... whatever they are! GrinConfusedConfused

Its not that not wearing a bra is slobby, I'm not quite sure what it is. I just prefer to be in a state I can answer the door in between 7am and 10pm I think, but also its about living with teens maybe... I last went braless out and about on a gap year aged 18 when my bras failed to come back with my laundry when I splashed out on the rare luxuary of paying to have all my laundry properly washed at a hostel, and I couldn't find anything suitable to buy especially as I was eeking out my money to travel as long as possible! I went on a 3 day long camel treck in Rajasthan braless - do not do this! Its very difficult to ride a camel with your arms folded, especially when the ** camel driver makes the camels run for his own amusement... AngryBlush

UntilYourNextHairBrainedScheme · 15/03/2021 18:28

I think I'll see whether Bravissimo deliver to Germany... I wanted to try them on because I have to wait over a month for things coming from the UK now, which makes returning agonising ...

I do have a couple of lounge bras but I find they make me look an odd shape - they're obviously not the right lounge bras! Because I'm at work a lot I really need something I can move around very freely in. I do have a wireless sports bra which is a good fit and also good for work, but it is the kind that stands up on its own and would make a good playhouse for a toddler Grin ...

ParisJeTAime · 15/03/2021 18:30

Oh sweet jesus, braless camel trek!!! Nooooooooooo!! That sounds painful tbh.

Sorry about the bra quest.

I love the hoodie thingy! That would have been great last year when I was going swimming and wasn't meant to use the showers, so had to go straight out to the car!

ParisJeTAime · 15/03/2021 18:32

X post!

Bravissimo are great and they have online advisers who I have found really helpful. They helped me choose two new bras recently and both are perfect. Even the sports bra and I'm quite picky about sports bras.

Gosh, how did I miss that online hoodie? I love it. We didn’t have dressing gowns as children and were expected to get dressed before coming downstairs, got my first dressing gown at 40, but I am blessed in the breast area, and really do benefit from support, so I usually wear bravissimo vest tops because they have it. But I do find their stuff somewhat overpriced. @UntilYourNextHairBrainedScheme I often get ads for MissMary of Sweden, and they do look comfortable and definitely do larger cup sizes, might they be better bets for delivery. I’ve also had a lovely Lepel bra, which I think is French, and surprising because I always think Frenchwomen are smaller busted, oh the stereotypes we hold, might be worth a look?. I’m now doubting myself about the Lepel.
Braless camel trekking will stay with me for ever.

Zebracat · 15/03/2021 21:30

Oh blimey, somehow deleted bits of that message so it’s abit William Burroughs.

ParisJeTAime · 16/03/2021 08:45

Morning!

Yes, Bravissimo can be £££. Especially when you can find the same brand of bra elsewhere for a little cheaper. Eg Freya.

Their own brand bras though, I really like and they do ok sales.

Here I am, all in grey, to reflect the miserable weather!

GF jeans, from Tu, rediscovered while sorting out the loft. Owl tshirt, from God knows where, ancient. Black, Gap tank underneath and a black cardi, also from Tu over the top.

Morning everyone, this is a new top from EMP in size XL. I've tried a tuck but I'm not sure, my problem is the side view, I carry my weight front and back and think the belt enchances my belly in side view, while defining it in front view :/ Tucked into tesco jeggings size 18.

I actually look preggers in that side pic :(

ParisJeTAime · 16/03/2021 09:09

You do not look pregnant!!

I find with tucking in, I can only get away with it if I'm wearing loose fit trousers or an a line skirt. I don't have your amazing bum! But I do have huge, wobbly hips! If I want to tuck, I need something which doesn't cling to my hips.

That said, I think you look nice, so shurrup Grin

LivingDeadGirlUK That's a great top and I love the neckline.

I too am still tittering (pun intended) about the braless camel trek Grin

I washed my best white lacy bra a few weeks ago. Put it in one of those net bags (which I'd never bothered to do before). Came out shredded and grey. Still gutted.

LivingDeadGirlUK · 16/03/2021 10:24

Aww thanks you two :)

I hear you about the looser fit trousers/jeans, I'm looking for some nice dark wash flares or boot cut but finding it hard to get a good fit at the moment, the jeggings are good as they stretch!

ParisJeTAime · 16/03/2021 12:15

Jeans and top have arrived. The jeans are a no, sadly. See pic.

The top looks nice, but I need to decide what to wear it with.

You're right about the jeans (like I'm the jeans expert!).

I have a couple of short stretch jersey skirts (Sainsbury's) so I would wear the top with something like that and tights and your non-goth boots and do you have a denim or leather jacket?

ParisJeTAime · 16/03/2021 13:36

Oh yes, I like the sound of that. I did have a faux suede biker jacket and a black denim jacket, but they have both busy recently been put in bags in the great purge yesterday! I realised, I find casual jackets a bit pointless, as I find them uncomfortable and not warm enough. I was a but trigger happy yesterday - hope not to suffer Kondo regret later! But honestly, the last time I actually wore one of my casual jackets, other than during style challenge...I think I've worn them once each and that's it! So they need to go to a new home.

I have a denim midi skirt which I might try it with. Maybe tucked in with a belt and a cardi over the top. I shall try it with a few things later. It is nice, but the collar is huuuuuge, so struggling with that a bit.

OP posts:
ParisJeTAime · 16/03/2021 13:42

Random "busy" in there for no reason. Also a bit trigger happy. Also during the great purge.

StCharlotte · 16/03/2021 16:21

Ha Ha! I thought we were talking about the t-shirt you were wearing in the picture!

Can we have a picture if the top and hopefully my suggestion will still work Grin

ParisJeTAime · 16/03/2021 16:41

Oooooooh, no, this is an old one from God knows where. Also unearthed during the great loft purge of 2021.

The new one is this one.

Ah yes I remember now. I stick with my suggestion but yes a cardigan rather than a jacket.

Actually I agree about jackets - hence that blazer still has labels (notwithstanding lockdown).

poorremus · 16/03/2021 22:51

I did something I promised myself I wouldn't do again...I have a Stitchfix box coming tomorrow. Am a little bit excited and a little bit apprehensive Grin
