WWW's ten year younger boot camp Nov 07 - WEEK TWO - all welcome

WideWebWitch · 04/11/2007 20:55

This is week two of the ninth WWW 10year younger boot camp of 2007.

Anyone can join, we promise it works and you will feel and look better - and maybe younger - if you follow these rules.

This is about being healthy and feeling and looking better as a result. It's not a diet (although weight loss does seem to occur fairly frequently)

THE RULES ARE:

  • Sunscreen at all times, even though it's autumn
  • No or little booze in the week. Wine at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can. Many of us have an Omron pedometer
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible
  • Use hand cream/foot cream too, we recommend Flexitol, which is fantastic stuff
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that at the end of six weeks we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage.

I have had a lovely weekend and wish it wasn't Monday tomorrow but hey ho.

AND I nipped to the shop this lunchtime, DESPERATE for something for a change, and I was going to buy the shop iykwim. Walked out with a ham roll, plus some biscuits (wavered by the chocolate but refused to buy) and the biscuits are still in my bag!!!

Just getting directions for a weekend down south, and then I'm off to bed.

tortoiseSHELL · 09/11/2007 11:29

Yesterday;
1 apple
1 raw carrot (large)
1 M&S prepared fruit salad (yum) - according to the packet has 3 portions of fruit, so that's my 5 portions for yesterday!!!
sweet and sour chicken (sounds bad but actually pretty healthy - chicken, onions, pepper, mushroom in Chicken tonight sauce which I checked and only has 75cals per 100g, so not too bad. Served with rice.

No alcohol since last Sunday I think.

Exercise - negligible. Bed - late. Sunscreen - no. Water - some.

Today, am walking up to swimming with ds1's class, and will walk to school before that, (weather permitting!), so that should be a good 2.5 miles, poss more, do I get bonus points for shepherding Y2 children?

tortoiseSHELL · 09/11/2007 11:30

DUchess, I can't believe how good you're being whilst pg! How was the booking appointment? Are you feeling any less sick yet? Hope it's easing off.

moonshine · 09/11/2007 11:51

Hi all. I've had a horrendous week at work and boot-camp wise but it's my day off today and I have been for a wonderful walk (12k steps already this morning and lots of positive ideas). Booze-wise I've actually been good but my sugar cravings both before and during my period are becoming more and more horrendous.

Anyway, I am having my hair cut (thank the lord) on Tuesday, which dh always says knocks a few years off me, and I shall try and continue the exercise over the weekend, including back-strengthening exercises, now that it is finally better. I can never resist booze over the weekend and so shall resign myself to it but as of Monday I am going(mainly) hardcore. It won't be pretty (or particularly healthy) I fear, but I need a massive kick(start) - the thought of Christmas and all that food and drink + my willpower is scaring me now. And I have a huuuuggge event in March next year for which I absolutely need to look fabulous.

puddle · 09/11/2007 12:56

Hello all
You and me both with the haircut moonshine - had mine done yesterday and looks nicer today (now that salon the over-done-ness has been squished out of it on the pillow!)

Am still sticking to detox and feeling really good on it - skin has gone a bit to pot but that is to be expected apparently. i am expecting to be glowing from next Tuesday....This will be my second Friday night without any wine which is SUCH a habit for me, but will try and keep my mind off it with other things.

Bama Neutrogena handcream is the best one I have found - arctic fishermen use it (allegedly). Put it on before bed and feel your baby soft hands in the morning!

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 09/11/2007 14:26

Dolly - I'm due on 27th May. I currently have DD1 6yo, DS1 4yo & DD2 3yo.

T/shell - I've worked so hard at the running this year that I'm reluctant to lose my newly found fitness immediately! The booking-in was a trip down memory lane. And 'Emma's Diary' is still doing the rounds!!

Today I've eaten a croissant, cheese & French bread, apple & orange. So far, so good. After school DD1 and I are having a swim at the neighbours, followed by pizza and a lemon pudding (which shockingly involves whipped double cream, lemon curd, greek yoghurt, digestive biscuits and butter).

I think it's the pregnancy as well as the colder weather that's drying my skin out. I am slathering on Estee Lauders Daywear at a very expensive rate.

BIG WELL DONE to all those who are successfully staying off the wine during the week.

WideWebWitch · 09/11/2007 19:26

Hello! It's FRIDAY and I had a glass of wine on the train and am now home having another while dh is out getting Indian takeaway.

SO relieved to get another week over. Not a bad day

100g granola
apple
tuna and light mayo sandwich
apple
flapjack
few brazils and walnuts

lots of water
walking commuting
no sunscreen but spent about 5 minutes outside while it wasn't dark today
no creams but will have long soak tomorrow.

and my skin is starting to look better, yay!

Happy weekend everyone

foxinsocks · 09/11/2007 19:29

GLASS of wine on the train??

you are clearly not on a suburban line - unless you snuck the bottle in your handbag and were swigging from it behind the paper

I have had a beer tonight and feel much better for it.

Work want me to work more (sigh) so am doing Thursdays too till Christmas with a view to doing a full 4 days possibly from January. Which means getting a nanny which is a nightmare for us because the house is being renovated and we have very odd hours that need covering (due to dh and I working funny hours) and...well, life is never simple is it.

Anyway, ds's birthday tomorrow (he's 6) - my youngest. I can't quite believe it!

Hope you all have lovely weekends!

tortoiseSHELL · 09/11/2007 19:30

Yay for Friday!

Duchess - lots of admiration for your running - I just couldn't do anything when pg! Mucho respecto!

Me today;

2 raw carrots ( got addicted to them when I was pg and eat them all the time now!)
1 ham sandwich - 2 pieces of wholemeal bread (thin cut), wafer thin ham
2 moon biscuits (49 cals)
Water - yes
Walking - walked 2.5+miles
Sunscreen - no
early night last night - no

oh www - you want ROUTES. No-one told me. I LOVE doing routes. Especially round London (don't let countessdracula see this - she likes routing too and is probably quicker than me).

Tell meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

unknownrebelbang · 09/11/2007 22:18

lol at the wine on the train, www.

I somehow managed to have two teas today . I was about to leave work when a colleague almost burst into tears, so I stayed a little bit longer and another colleague bought me a bowl of chips (high society, lol) whilst we were chatting. I got home to find DH had cooked me some tea - I was so distracted by colleague and a quick rush round Tesco that I just ate it without thinking. .

Also had snacks at the school quiz night, but I chose stuff I wouldn't be that bothered about iykwim, so not so bad.

Sunscreen yes,
30 mins Exercise bike instead of walking.
Drink water/weak tea.
Use hand cream/foot cream - could improve.
Go to bed early, better than the night before.
Eat healthily - see above, lol.
Be Happy. yes - meeting up with some mates tomorrow/til Sunday. Long drive, but good company, plenty of food and vino and no running round after the boys!

tortoiseSHELL · 10/11/2007 08:19

Yesterday was pretty good - finished up with cheese and mushroom omelette (small - 1.5 eggs) and small slice of bread.

Weekends are always a challenge for me, spend the whole day looking after children, and making food for them!

DollyPopsOut · 10/11/2007 08:52

Hou eveyone has a good weekend .

Bad night last night - over to a friend's for supper, which was delicious curry and plenty of wine. Kid's party this afternoon and out to lunch tomorrow. Still, am having my hair cut this morning which should make me feel a bit better. Am currently sporting an experimental 'do with the front scraped back into a clip. I am still losing hair quite badly after the birth of DD2 so that will need disguised. Never been to this woman before - hope she likes a challenge !

More later. Will ensure I do plenty of water and walking today. DH bought me new boots yesterday for my birthday and am itching to try them out. They are gorgeous with elastic sides, though, so very hard to get on. Hope they loosen a bit in time.

MrsSchadenfreude · 10/11/2007 09:21

WWW - you want to get the bus from Euston. I do and it's much more civilised than the tube, and if you go in early, it is quite quick, too. I get the bus to Trafalgar Square and it takes about 15 minutes, including 5 minute walk to bus stop. Not sure what number you need to Oxford Circus, though. Does the 73 go that way?

MrsSchadenfreude · 10/11/2007 09:24

We really need to meet up on the way home if you have wine...!

WideWebWitch · 10/11/2007 09:45

Ah, well I go first class, which is how come I had wine on the train. They bring it to you at your seat with ICE too if you want it and it's free and everything, it's v nice. I like the train part of my journey.

FIS, Batters, I really don't think there is a better route. MrsS Oxford Circus isn't my end point, that's North Acton, I just go to Oxford Circus to get the central line. And I've tried going to Tottenhamn Ct Rd on the Northern line but have decided 2 stops to Oxford Circus on the victoria line is much better/less qs etc than Northern line.

Will read you all properly later, must get dressed and go to the library for books!

Had king prawn karai,
keema rice
naan
wine last night
and fell asleep on the sofa at 10pm. Woke at 7am, which is a lie in so feel good this morning although still aching all over from the walking.

WideWebWitch · 10/11/2007 09:46

Tottenham, don't know how that extra n crept in!

OP posts:
TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 10/11/2007 13:29

at you all boozing away from 5pm on Friday evening - no doubt until midnight on Sunday - stopping just in time to be clean and serene for another week.

I swan a measly 10 or so lengths yesterday with DD1 - it won't have done anything to reduce the fat level in that lemon pudding, but it was divine.

Today I've eaten a croissant, cheese & salad sandwich, lots of orange squash and am even considering having a cup of coffee.

Am on a happy high because DD1 got her 10m swimming badge today and has gone up another class.

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 10/11/2007 13:30

I didn't 'swan', I swam. Swan would indicate graceful movement. Which wouldn't be me.

WideWebWitch · 10/11/2007 13:31

Just had a lovely lunch of

smoked salmon with garlic mayonnaise
Spanish spiced salami with chilli jam
quails eggs with celery salt
the insides of some pie from the deli (chicken, pancetta, onion), didn't fancy the pastry
some blue Cambozola type cheese with chilli jam
a couple of marinated anchovies
a bit of rollmop herring

OP posts:
TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 10/11/2007 19:13

+newsflash+

I have lost 1/2 stone since becoming pregnant (no doubt caused by endless nausea and which will go straight back on in no time). However, I have had another bowl of the lemon pudding I made yesterday given that I have a bit of lee-way!

WideWebWitch · 10/11/2007 19:30

Blimey DofN, that's a lot of nausea! I would go for it but I don't want another!

Hello all, will start another thread later today.

a croissant with butter and strawberry jam oops
smoked salmon
a rollmop herring
some marinated anchovies
an apple
and will eat some quails eggs when they've boiled

I ache ALL OVER, really badly, like someone was punching me in the night so surely that means the walking is doing something? Had a leisurely bath with dd and have used body lotion and Flexitol.
