WWW's ten year younger boot camp Nov 07 - WEEK TWO - all welcome

WideWebWitch · 04/11/2007 20:55

This is week two of the ninth WWW 10year younger boot camp of 2007.

Anyone can join, we promise it works and you will feel and look better - and maybe younger - if you follow these rules.

This is about being healthy and feeling and looking better as a result. It's not a diet (although weight loss does seem to occur fairly frequently)

THE RULES ARE:

  • Sunscreen at all times, even though it's autumn
  • No or little booze in the week. Wine at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can. Many of us have an Omron pedometer
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible
  • Use hand cream/foot cream too, we recommend Flexitol, which is fantastic stuff
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that at the end of six weeks we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage.

I have had a lovely weekend and wish it wasn't Monday tomorrow but hey ho.

Glad you've had a lovely weekend www. Please be horrid to me this week!

Marina, sorry you've all had colds. How did Let all the World go? That was today wasn't it? Have mailed you on Facebook - thanks for your message! xxx

I have a new excuse for this week - I've hurt my back - just bent over the dishwasher and ping/aaarrgghhh.

( phew, excuses for 4 weeks running - what can I think of for next week? )

swedishmum · 05/11/2007 17:11

I was so good today - in Ikea with dd I didn't even want to pick on her meatballs and chips, sticking to my prawn salad with an extra bowl of salad . Washed down with lashings of water of course.

DollyPopsOut · 05/11/2007 19:37

Hello everyone

Have done lots of sorting and chucking old stuff to the charity shop today. As a result, not much walking but plenty of water and mainly healthy food.

Tshell, how are you feeling today?

Iota, that sounds soooooooo painful. Are you laid up or can you shuffle round? Hope you get well soon.

Batters, I do envy you your champagne. I drank rather a lot of sherry last night which meant I was a bit fat headed today. Were you celebrating anything in particular

Swedishmum, I love ikea meatballs, esp with the red sauce (cranberry???) that goes with. Well done for resisting! I have had a bit of choc money today but nothing else which was bad.

WWW, am deeply impressed with your commute. Hope you get ot read lots and listen to some fab music to while away the hours.

Am currently on sentry duty outside DD's bedroom. She is showing no signs of sleep yet, worst luck, even though she is exhausted. I could curl up and go to sleep here.

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 05/11/2007 20:03

Hello everyone, I have been out in my running shorts and trainers today and covered nearly 6k. But not running! Only very brisk walking. And it was a beautifully sunny morning to do it on. But since lunchtime it's been bloody freezing!

Went to fireworks party last night and ate very healthy baked salmon and winter salad. So much easier to eat food that someone else has cooked.

Today I've had a bowl of Frosties (sudden craving), a cheese scone, a Twix (post-walk emergency ), 2 Crackerbread with butter and a sprinkling of salt (?!), a small steak, corn on the cob and baked tomatoes. Lots of lime cordial. Generally I'm feeling much better but I still can't drink coffee or plain water, they just taste bad!

Sympathies and speedy recoveries to Iota and Marina.

Dolly - how satisfying to have a good clear out, I keep postponing mine.

Batters - you're on a happiness overload! Did I miss something on the last thread? What is the cause of such delight?

swedishmum · 05/11/2007 20:52

Oh and I threw out two thirds of a Nigella cheesecake I made yesterday as dh is away this week. I'm doing my dad's wedding reception in a couple of weeks so am trying out a few recipes - not the best time for healthy eating! Canapes anyone?

WideWebWitch · 05/11/2007 21:00

Evening all, where ARE the rest of you, hmm? Dingle, Puddle, Prufrock, Arfy and the vile Victoria, Legalalien, Bamamama, unknownrelbang, Sobernow, Cerys, feetheart, Winnie, Moonshine, hollyhobbie, madUJ, scaryhouse, shreddies, FIS

I think that's all the absentees name checked but sorry if I missed anyone. GET BACK HERE NOW YOU IDLE LOT!

Iota, sorry to hear aobut your back

batters, ooh Champagne at 10-.30 on a SCHOOL night, I was just going to sleep then but I'm glad you're happy

and oh my giddy aunt at SHERRY on a school night too, whatever next?

Tshell, how are you, any better? I hope this is a better week for you. Would be vile to you but you haven't admitted to anything terrible yet!

dollypopsout, I hope your dd is asleep as I type this. My two fell asleep cuddled up to me in ds's bed tonight, ds was cuddled to my right and dd was lying on top of me and is still small enough to not cover me and it was lovely listening to them sleep. Well done on sorting out and healthy food.

DuchesssnofN, wow that sounds like pregnancy food all right!

Good evening everyone!

Only a week late, but my "think like a thin person" moment came when I realised I was moving more throughout each day and boogying around the office - not actually a great idea when you work in a goldfish bowl, lol.

Sunscreen - only just! had to dash out to run DS1 to school as he missed his bus!
No booze.
45 mins Exercise bike instead of walking.
Need to drink more water today.
Use hand cream/foot cream - not so much today.
Go to bed early, 11.15 last night.
Eat healthily - who can resist the packet of chocolate biscuit assortment bought in as a thank you?
Be happy - yay, I've lost another pound, which makes half a stone in total so far.

unknownrebelbang · 05/11/2007 21:01

I'm here Ms Whipcracker WWW!!!

WideWebWitch · 05/11/2007 21:07

V impressed at cheesecake being chucked out, well done!

Not bad today:

100g granola
an apple
a banana
homemade cheese sandwich with hardly any cheese, a scraping of butter and pickle
a piece of homemade flapjack
salmon steak
salad (with dressing mind you)

no wine, obv, second night in a row
lots of water
walking a go go on my rubbish commute
forgot sunscreen, MUST remember tomorrow
and was asleep before 11pm last night where I
dreamt I was going to prison AND going out with Johnny Depp, what a fker of a double whammy that would have been IRL!

Whiled away some of my vile journey today by calculating how many days I have left to work (120) and how much cash I will take home net in that time (enough to make it just about worth it). Hate the claustrophobia of the 2 stops I have to do to bloody Oxford St but it's fine once I get past that. Am considering trying driving tomorrow, just to compare it. Miss the children and if I can get home an hour earlier it will be worth it.

One day down, 4 to go...

Ive been OK - took dog (I'm going to have to start saying dog1 and dog2 to differentiate between the one that needs walks and the one that pees eeverywhere aren't I) for a ovely walk through beechwoods this am, then took a broken hoover back to tesco and was expecting a bit of an arguemnt, but they just refunded without batting an eye. And I had a productive morning, and have found out that i have managed to persuade teh manager from 2 years ago (who was amazingly wonderful and left because of personal reasons which are now resolved) to come back. so my pre-school has a manager and I no longer have to do it all

No breakfast (just couldn't face eating as I'm still all bunged up)
coffee
chilli and brwon rice for lunch
coffee and slice of chocolate cake (in my defence it was good mothering - dd made it at a party at the weekend)
roast chicken and veggies

No exercise aprt froim walk - still feeling too weak, but PT is coming tomorrow

prufrock · 05/11/2007 21:21

Ow iota. have you tried the voltarol gel - dh swears by it.

swedish mum - respect. I could never throw out food like that - it's one step of thinking like a thin person too far.

www - v.impressive eating. Is there no way you can walk the underground bit, or even get a bus?

batters - you are very very bad to drink champagne on a Sunday night. Happiness be damned, do you want to lose more weight or not (www wasn't being v. strict so i'm taking over)

WideWebWitch · 05/11/2007 21:25

Ooh, get you Prufrock

batters, come back and be bollocked!

Actually, I have toyed with walking from Euston to Oxford Circus (nearest central line) but even walkit.com says it's 17 mins walking fast and I haven't got enough time in the mornings, boo hoo. Today's the first time I really hated the tube journey, I may have to find another way, aaagggh.

OP posts:
swedishmum · 05/11/2007 21:39

Actually Prufrock, it's more thinking like a fat person who knows she has no self-control in my case!

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 05/11/2007 22:02

rofl @ WWWs dream. If I had to go to prison I'd quite like to take JD in with me. He could pretend to be a different, yet staggeringly handsome, man every day. That'd get me fit. And no doubt pregnant again too...!

oooooh I am feeling Grrrrrrrreat!

I can't believe it. Am on day 8 of detox and am full of energy, skin glowing (a bit spotty but still....) and waistbands feel looser. This the payback for spending at least 5 days feeling like I had mild flu. Have managed to live in a house full or trick or treating goodies and do weekend bonfire parties without cracking so am feeling v proud of myself.

www - get the 73 bus! I used to get that to work in my fisrt London job (nostalgia) Although not the same now it's bendy rather than routemaster.

Batters I am not drinking and feeling great on it but even I envied your champagne moment. Looking forward to december when I can have a glass or two....

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 06/11/2007 19:12

V. impressive puddle, well done!

Despite going to bed at 11pm, I hardly slept and have thus felt rotten all day.

I've eaten 1/2 bowl muesli, apple juice, scrambled egg on toast, a single lump of Toblerone, a spoonful of chilli and rice (which I gave up on as feel too yuk).

The DCs are in bed, their school bags are ready so I just need to give the ponies their hay and then I could go to bed... I am really exhausted... but if I do go to sleep this early, I'll be awake again by midnight and that'll be all the sleep I get tonight... I hate insomnia!

shreddies · 06/11/2007 19:17

I spent the weekend throwing up but have lost loads of weight tho as my mum pointed out it will all be water

Other than that I had been doing quite well - lots of walking, an hour a day with ds in his buggy - can feel it in my legs and although that's proof of how unfit I am it is quite nice to feel my muscles working again. I need to get back on track with exercise, and I still haven't got a sunscreen moisturiser. I'll do that tomorrow.

iota · 06/11/2007 19:25

thanks for the good wishes ladies, my back is a lot better than it was, but I'm still not venturing back to the gym yet.

had to trail my 2 kids with me to the Drs this evening for my flu jab and stopped off at the nearby chippy for chicken and chips.

so am being generally slack this week.

am not heartened by the fact that surgery is doing height, weight, waist ratio checks at the mo as well and my ideal weight is apparently 62.5kg. This makes me about 10 kg overweight and I thought that it was only about 5kg

ellehcim · 06/11/2007 19:31

Can I join? I'm in desperate need of a post baby kick up the arse.

DollyPopsOut · 06/11/2007 20:01

Hello everyone

It's been a challenging day here today. DD1 is wildly jealous of DD2 at the moment and so there has been pinching, hitting, hairpulling etc in the double buggy. I was deeply frazzled by about 12.30pom bur went to Weight watchers and have lost 2.5 lbs. Only neeed to lost another 12lbs to be at target. Batters, i know exactly what you mean about feeling proud rather than motivated. First thing I wanted was some choc to celebrate! However, that is what got me into this state so I had to step away.

Have walked loads today. Forgot the sunscreen but lots of weak tea. Am trying to resist the wine.

WWW, sorry to be nosey but are you on a temp contract? You said your job was finishing in 12o days so I just wondered why....

More in a minute - baby crying

WideWebWitch · 06/11/2007 20:32

Hello all

Batters, I SO know what you mean, whenever anyone tells me I've lost weight it acts as a DISINCENTIVE as I just think 'fab, I can eat and drink whatever I want' - and I can't, obviously, either.

ellachim, course you can join, welcome!

Dolly, yes, I'm a contractor. So it's a six month contract, never again will I do this commute. I drove today and it took TWO AND A HALF HOURS! But only an hour and 15 mins on the way back so hmm, I may try it again.

Iota, that's nothing! Sorry about your back, mine is agony tonight, sympathy.

Shreddies, sorry about vomit, hope you feel better soon.

Puddle, I'm glad you're feeling great, well done. Will investigate the bus, I am desperate to find something that works and driving aint it!

OP posts:
WideWebWitch · 06/11/2007 20:36

Not bad

100g granola, eaten in standstill traffic on the A40
an apple
a homemade flapjack
homemade Marmite sandwich with scrape of butter
a piece of bread with tuna and light mayo in it when I came in
and we're having a poussin each tonight, dh even marinated them

no walking as drove
no sunscreen but wasn't outside in daylight much
but have showered and washed my hair tonight (no time in mornings) and used bodylotion AND Flexitol AND handcream AND took my make up off (have been doing that the minute I come in every night)
and this is night 3 with no wine

and was asleep about 11pm last night, which is too late
never mind, not too bad at all. I'm definitely eating less due to being busy.
