Talk to me about sweatshirts

Knitwear is awkward for me because I have toddler who gets gunk into everything and knitwear doesn't always take kindly to frequent washing - so I often choose sweatshirts instead. I'd like a few "dressier" ones, if such a thing exists, in case I get the odd Teams call coming through.

I like this one but DH thinks its awful. What do you think? (Not that his taste is impeccable or anything)

Any other good, soft sweatshirt buys anyone's found? Something that washes well...

I buy all my sweatshirts and hoodies from PLT.
They are lovely n soft. I have the hoodies in every colour available.

I quite like that sweatshirt OP. I think it’s very nice, pricey but nice.

I’ve just looked up PLT as I didn’t know what it was. Their styles seem targeted at a certain age group, quite young in my opinion. If OP is looking at Temperley for sweatshirts I’m guessing she’s a more mature woman.

It's great. Sod your dh. He won't be wearing it. I've just made myself one with a massive floral pattern on black.

PLT seems to be aimed at women into that slack jawed pout.

@Shimy at 40 I think I'd fall to a slightly more mature group! Someone linked a beautiful Temperley top a while back which I lusted over so it made me see what else there was. This site will be my financial room.

@PickAChew thank you! He'll be looking at me though so I try to be considerate. Especially since some of his very ragged old stuff occasionally goes "missing"

There’s also COS. They’ve been doing a sale and had some sweatshirts in there but may have all run out by now. I managed to get my first sweatshirt from them and the quality is superb. Their full prices are also very similar to the one you linked so that might not be a problem.

Zara is my favourite for sweatshirts. They're quite plain, nothing dressy. So comfortable though!

I have a whistles sweatshirt which I love and also a next one which is plain and a flattering fit (as flattering as a sweatshirt can be) currently coveting a scamp and dude one but the navy is out of stock in my size

I have bought loads of sweatshirts this year and they are from hush, Baukjen, Boden and FWP by Rae. I would wear that one @Pigtailsandall I think it's nice. You must of course wear what you like! Jumpers are not ever so practical so sweatshirts seem to be useful to me and all those brands wash and wear well and are I think all organic cotton.

Scamp and dude do the best sweatshirts in my opinion. They wash well too.

@Sooverthemill Yes, I have one sweatshirt from Hush which I love. I was VERY weary of buying it as their joggers are pretty much ready to bin after a year but so far the top has fared well. The second one I have (I literally have two!) Is from Boden and though it's very soft, I swear the sleeves have shrunk quite a bit in the wash... Baukjen looks v nice but they are even more pricey. They do look very cosy.

Scamp & Dude is a great shout. I'm just weary if their return policy and p&p seems eye-wateringly expensive at £5.99!

Another one for cos here, quality is excellent . I also have a sweaty Betty one (not unlike the one you linked but it’s a few years old now) that is wearing very well. I bought a few from h and m but they didn’t do so well with the frequent washes (I have a 4 year old and two year old so wool also out for me!) have just bought a lululemon one in the sale which im hopeful about !

I live in Scamp and Dude sweatshirts for most of the year, they wash really well. I also got a nice sweatshirt in Oliver Bonas last year.

@Immaback yes, I usually love Cos too. But I feel totally uninspired by their website tbh. Nothing looks nice on the models and they are fans of doing black on black or white on white so sometimes it's hard to see what a jumper looks like against a coat of same colour etc etc. But I love their shops. Once I can, Cos will be one of the first stores I visit and I'm sure I'll pick something up then!!
I feel your pain. I watch people post lovely photos of themselves in cashmere jumpers and I'm like, yeah.. that would have bolognese on it within the hour. One day!

I've just bought a lovely sweatshirt from Les Boys Les Girls. It's just a plain blue one but quality seems really nice and the oversized fit looks good (I think!) Probably wouldn't buy outside of the sale but it is lovely lesgirlslesboys.com/products/crew-neck-sweatshirt-stormy-sea
Also bought a tie dye one from H&M which my husband thinks is ridiculous but I love. I bought myself a Hari and the Gang one back in March which has shrunk loads unfortunately.

I'm 34 by the way with a 5 year old and a 2 year old who trash all my clothes!

My Hush sweatshirts are horrendous quality. They went very shapeless after just a couple of washes which I was gutted about as they are NOT cheap. I'll definitely not be buying sweatshirts from them again.

This thread has just reminded me that I have an utterly naff but really cosy abercrombie and ditch sweatshirt, somewhere. Could have done with that, last week!

@icanboogieboogiewoogie sorry to hear that. I have 7 hush sweatshirts and never had any problems with shapelessness. I have the cotton ones.

@Pigtailsandall you can always find a 20% discount code for Baukjen . MLC20 for example. I rarely pay full price for their stuff. The Marte hoodie is fabulous

As I have long arms my go to is M and S - mens department for sweatshirts. This allows for some shrinkage as well.

Just ordered a hoodie from Baukjen - an unusual purchase for me - but sweatshirts seem to be right for now. Baukjen is good or you could try Hush.
