Talk to me about sweatshirts

Knitwear is awkward for me because I have toddler who gets gunk into everything and knitwear doesn't always take kindly to frequent washing - so I often choose sweatshirts instead. I'd like a few "dressier" ones, if such a thing exists, in case I get the odd Teams call coming through.

I like this one but DH thinks its awful. What do you think? (Not that his taste is impeccable or anything)

Any other good, soft sweatshirt buys anyone's found? Something that washes well...

Pull & Bear have a huge range of sweatshirts just now, all v reasonably priced, lots of colours, discreet logos. My kids & I all got a P&B sweatshirt on holiday (remember them?) in Malta in Spring 2019 when it was colder than we expected and they look just as good now as when we bought them. I'm going to get one that has a kangaroo pocket that you usually only see on hoodies - great for slipping your phone into.

Lazy Jacks is my favourite sweatshirt/hoody brand. They are roomy and long enough to wear with leggings. They also have some nice colours which is great for those that don't want to wear black.

MeandT · 22/02/2021 17:56

Bam do a really good range of staple t shirts and lightweight sweater-ish tops. They wash well & tumble dry on cool setting with no problems.

They usually have a style called 'serenity' which is pretty good for work/toddler crossover. Can't see it at the moment- maybe restocking new season styles?

This one gives you an idea of a heavier weight sweater though bambooclothing.co.uk/shop/nattadon-bamboo-sweat/

Try this company, ethical and organic cotton lovesweatandtees.com/collections/sweats

ProfessorInkling · 22/02/2021 18:25

Scamp & Dude are the softest cosiest sweatshirts I own, and they are long enough in the body and arm. Worth the price tag.

MistakenAgain · 22/02/2021 18:33

Colourful Standard - ESP if you find a colour you LOVE.

shinyhappypeeps · 22/02/2021 18:38

H&M - I have several baby pink ones - cheap and cheerful and no worries if they get gunked up.

TiredMummyZZZ · 22/02/2021 18:42

I love Magpie and Mama (magpieandmama.com/) they’re all made to order using liberty of london fabrics and they support the YoungMinds charity. I have matching sweatshirts with my daughter and we absolutely love them. They do tees too.

Monsterjam · 22/02/2021 18:42

Sloppy joe are lovely. Expensive but lovely x

TeaAndBiscuitsAndWine · 22/02/2021 19:12

I really like Seasalt clothes. I have a sweatshirt / tunic thing from them like this one, lovely and comfortable, has washed c well, and attractive: www.seasaltcornwall.co.uk/clothing/dresses-tunics/tunic-tops/mawgan-porth-cotton-jersey-tunic.htm

TeaAndBiscuitsAndWine · 22/02/2021 19:16

Oh, and they are made of organic cotton too.

kowari · 22/02/2021 19:22

£59 for a sweatshirt? Looks like it might suit a mature older lady, fifties and up. I'm only a few years off 40 and wear second hand Superdry hoodies off eBay.

MrsBDarcy · 22/02/2021 19:22

Reading with j retest as I've not yet found the right hoodie or sweatshirt. I keep getting adverts for Elsies attic but never heard of them?

Kitty2019 · 22/02/2021 19:28

Check out Tiny Tortle. It's a small Irish company who hand dye sweatshirts in beautiful colours. You can choose between a normal crew neck but I like their raw edge slash necklines

Snezcomb · 22/02/2021 20:54

Sunspel do lovely sweatshirts.
I quite like this Mint Velvet one: www.mintvelvet.co.uk/product/Grey-Rainbow-Sweatshirt/30388
I've got this one. It's fabulous Grin

Another vote for Scamp and Dude. I dont love the patterns but they are so comfortable. I just brought another garish pink & red one in the sale, honestly the pattern is pretty horrid BUT it so so comfy and such a nice fit I live in it!

constantly · 23/02/2021 06:45

I have Victoria's Secret sweatshirts. Really comfy but bobble badly after a few washes

comeHailorSnow · 23/02/2021 06:49

I've got two Crew Clothing sweatshirts from 3 years ago that I've worn all through lockdown and are still going strong.

Bagelsandbrie · 23/02/2021 07:45

I am 40 and love sweatshirts from Lucy and Yak (you’ll need sunglasses - they’re bright!!), they wash up really well and last ages and are so soft. Also Seasalt do some lovely ones, I can’t stand the rest of their stuff but their sweatshirts are lovely. I also like Monki sweatshirts from Asos - they don’t always seem to have the same ones on their own website.

Bagelsandbrie · 23/02/2021 07:46

This is my current fave - it’s short in length but looks lovely with a longer top underneath -

I know this is style and beauty Grin, but I'm struggling to understand why anyone would pay over £100 for a sweatshirt that looks like this

As a tall person with long limbs I tend to go for men's sweatshirts and jumpers though.

I really like the colours of those sweatshirts. Grin

I've recently bought a few sweatshirts from Born Again Prints.

The guy uses vintage sweatshirts and screen prints using eco friendly ink with various images. They are usually one off colours. The prints are mostly music/football based but I guess it depends what you like.

LBB2020 · 24/02/2021 14:57

@Indiaplain what is the sizing like on scamp and dude sweaters? and are they long enough to cover your bum?!
