Wedding Dress Advice!

Hello all!

My first ever post here so be gentle 😅

I had my first DD in December 2020. I have now booked my registry office wedding to my DP for September 2021 (it will be a small affair - apparently it classes as a micro wedding 😂) and so I have naturally started hunting for something to wear. I am currently 30 years old, a size 16/18, 5’9 and have MASSIVE boobies (34K) but some of that will be due to me currently breast feeding. My happy comfortable place is size 12 and that is my goal for the year.

I have found this dress that ticks all my boxes for the wedding. It only goes up to a size 14. I can’t decide if I should take a punt and buy it in the knowledge I don’t currently fit into it, and it might not suit/ fit my boobs even it if I do ever fit into it (I am planning on losing weight but easier said then done right?)

Can I have some advise on what I should do? Buy it and use it as inspiration to lose weight? Wait until closer to the time and see if something else might have caught my eye by then? Don’t buy it is bloody awful and will never fit anyone with anything over a D cup? 😂

Thanks in advance lovely people 😁

I like this one from ivy and oak and cheeringly it appears it would look a lot better on someone with boobs than it does on this model! ivy-oak.com/collections/bridal-dresses/products/bridal-v-neck-lace-gown-in-snow-white-i114919f7128-w02

Lol just seen its optionally a maternity wedding gown. Also full length which you didn't want, but youd have enogh change to geg it altered and keep the lacy overhang at the hem

Chambored · 12/02/2021 14:00

It’s lovely Op.
Can you not order it just to try it on and see what it looks like? And to judge if how much weight you’d need to lose is realistic / achievable?

SummaLuvin · 12/02/2021 14:17

You could check out Needle and Thread. They do stunning dresses going up to size 18 like this for £245. Considering that is half of your budget you could spend some money on tailoring it to fit perfectly and even do things like change the shape of the neckline. www.needleandthread.com/products/whitethorn-bodice-maxi-dress-pearl-rose-champagne

KTD27 · 12/02/2021 14:21

@SummaLuvin oh man if I wasn’t already married I’d be buying that on the off chance Grin love it

Small of Nork here so nothing useful to offer on the style - but congratulations, OP, and your taste is gorgeous.

Absolutely beautiful dress but I'll be honest and say I can only imagine it on the willowy among us.

Iamtooknackeredtorun · 12/02/2021 15:49

Absolutely love the Candy Anthony link. If I were to marry those would be perfect for my style.

Girlintheframe · 12/02/2021 16:27

Love the dress you picked op. You have lovely taste.

Bigcheesey · 12/02/2021 19:38

Thank you everyone for the comments/ congratulations etc etc. I so wish I was a willowy B cup 😂

I have been given some fantastic links/ ideas and companies to investigate so I’m looking forward to that. Im hoping to have stopped breast feeding by the wedding so don’t have to worry so much about “access” so I’m hoping that opens up a few more options!

Does anyone have any thoughts on this - slightly fallen in love with it but fear it’ll be exactly the same problem as the original dress 😩 it does come in bigger sizes which would address that issue.

It’s pretty but I’m not as wowed at the first one. Could finding underwear be tricky?

SirVixofVixHall · 13/02/2021 11:34

Backless would be an issue wouldn’t it ? In that you couldn’t wear a bra. All the drama in that second dress is in the cut out back, so if you had that filled in the dress would lose something.

Bigcheesey · 13/02/2021 12:25

I think I kid myself that I might be able to get away industrial levels of tit tape.

But then again .... maybe not. 😂

rc22 · 13/02/2021 12:31

I think it might one of those dresses you need to be a stick to wear. I couldn't wear it cos I have massive hips. I can't see it working with big boobies either.

justanotherneighinparadise · 13/02/2021 12:35

I also really liked the self portrait dresses but ended up buying something from ASOS 🤭

It’s so difficult to pick a wedding dress online. I think I’d be choosing from a company with a good/easy/feee returns policy so I could try some different styles on then send them back if they look terrible.

Sexnotgender · 13/02/2021 12:38

Similar but maybe more forgiving size wise.

Maybe a better neckline.

justanotherneighinparadise · 13/02/2021 12:49

I think off the shoulder looks very nice with a large bust.

The second Monsoon one linked above - Emilie - is really nice.
Lovely shape.

Letsskidaddle · 13/02/2021 13:25

As a flat of chest gal I'm always envious of women with really good boobage....so many styles I could never wear. Your figure sounds like it would really rock a 50s type full-skirted dress, with a sweetheart neckline or a scooped neck with sleeves?

A dressmaker is definitely a good way to go and you'd get fabric and the frock made for your budget I'm sure. That way it'd be measured and fitted perfectly too.

Keep us updated, I love seeing wedding dressses!
