.... If they invented a pair of jeans that didn't blow a hole in the crotch!!

Anyone want to invent a pair and go on Dragons Den? Just burnt through my favourite pair of Fat Face jeans and I'm so upset 😭👖

I can't believe this problem hasn't been solved yet! There of plenty of women (and men) who don't have a thigh gap and have this problem repeatedly! Anyone more creative than me fancy making some money??

OP posts:
Rayna37 · 10/02/2021 15:52

No thigh gap to speak of here but never worn jeans through at the crotch! I would however pay handsomely for jeans where the stitching around the front pockets doesn't come undone quickly and then eventually wear through at the right knee though.

Toorapid · 10/02/2021 15:54

I find jeans go first in the seat, not sure what that says about my lifestyle Blush

Miseryisabutterfly · 10/02/2021 16:07

I have never had this problem but my husband does often. I assumed it was because his jeans were a bit too small. I’m forever telling him to buy new ones.

LadyCatStark · 10/02/2021 16:08

This has never, ever happened to me Confused.

WellTidy · 10/02/2021 16:10

Not the crotch, but I always, always tear the part where the 'hoiker' on the back right hand side attaches to the jeans themselves. I clearly hoik a lot, And vigorously.

Undies1990 · 10/02/2021 16:11

Sounds like you're buying jeans that don't fit your shape?

FedUpAtHomeTroels · 10/02/2021 16:11

I get my worn through holes at the hoiker good name and the corner edges of the back pockets.

SweatyBetty20 · 10/02/2021 16:11

It happens to me if I buy cheap M&S jeans that are stretchy and full of lycra - went through one pair in six months! Now I try the non-stretchy ones, which aren't easy when my fat legs prefer the stretchy ones...

ParadiseinMoscow · 10/02/2021 16:15

This has never ever happened to me but fat face jeans are thinner denim than most. They wear out so easily.

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 10/02/2021 16:30

If you wrap some cling film around your jeans at the top of each leg (whilst wearing them) you will find that your thighs will glide effortless past each other.

Alternatively you can use silicone parchment paper but I find that
a) it is a quite noticeable,
b) there can be a slight rustling noise as you walk.

Melange99 · 10/02/2021 16:33

My favourite pair has a hole where my thighs rub together. It takes a while but a hole develops, I try and patch it up, it doesn't work, I have to go on that godforsaken journey to get another pair.

Ponks · 10/02/2021 16:33

Have never "blown a hole" in the crotch of jeans but have definitely had hoiker issues!

Vargas · 10/02/2021 16:39

This has never happened to me. I wear jeans every day. Usually Gap or Next or Mint Velvet. I did rip the belt loop on one pair once.

Greenevalley · 10/02/2021 16:42

Never happened to me but 2 pairs of Next 40 denier tights have come apart at the crotch after a few hours wear.
Very annoying. And they are the correct size.

ILoveShula · 10/02/2021 16:46

This has never, ever happened to me, but I am a hoiker.

ILoveShula · 10/02/2021 16:49

Surely there's a market for something to put on the jeans to make the legs glide not rub, but I don't think that cling film or parchment paper is it.

picklemewalnuts · 10/02/2021 17:02

Hoiker and thigh rub here. Not crotch.

MildlyIrritatedOfChorley · 10/02/2021 17:20

Never happened to me.

Mine wear through on the knees because I scrabble around on hands and knees on the carpet or the garden a lot.

GooseMooseBurger · 10/02/2021 17:24

Never happened to me either.

I would pay handsomely for decent jeans that come in various leg lengths, like men get Envy

clary · 10/02/2021 17:24

I've never had your issue OP, but I would pay a LOT of money for a pair of jeans that actually fitted round my big bottom and then my relatively smaller waist!

It's not cos I'm overweight either (tho I am) - DD is a tiny petite 5ft3 7stone 8 size 6-8 and she has the exact same issue. We really can't be the only people!

Miseryisabutterfly · 10/02/2021 17:49

@GooseMooseBurger have you tried topshop jeans?

ThatQuietOne · 10/02/2021 17:50

I’m with you OP! Mine always go at the crotch first (when kids were little and played on the floor it used to be the knees). 2 pairs died this way last week - both under a year old, reasonable quality (and/or from John Lewis). It’s only my skinnies that do this.... I’m slim but not to the point of having a thigh gap.
I do walk miles every day with the dogs and am on my feet a lot - maybe this is to blame?

HavelockVetinari · 10/02/2021 17:52

This thread is an excellent demonstration of how different women's bodies can be - I think we have way more variation than men, which makes clothing selection really tricky.

Also: see the underwear thread about gussets, it was crazy!

starbrightstarlight8888 · 10/02/2021 17:54

I've never had this. I have had some tear at the hoiker though.

christmasathomeagain · 10/02/2021 17:56

All my trousers wear in the thigh/crotch area where my thighs rub. Its particularly hard when they are much loved jeans or trousers. I have tried all sorts of ways to fix them but nothing lasts.
