What do you like about your body?

Inspired by post 'do you feel comfortable naked?'

I responded that no, I do not like being naked. But lots of people replied saying that they do and love their boobs, bum, legs, shoulders etc.

This got me thinking . . . What do I like about my body. I couldn't think of a single thing I would not change. I'm 52 so getting saggy and flabby. Nothing to admire here! Hair is thin, eyelashes too straight, feet of a troll etc.

What do you love about your body?

OP posts:

I have thick hair, glowing skin, a big smile which everyone comments on (despite having uneven teeth), toned legs which people say are Tina Turner like and an hourglass figure 14/16 with big breasts (38GG). I'm happy with my look! I used to be down on my weight when younger and I think of all the time I wasted feeling low. Never again.

AlwaysLatte · 07/02/2021 21:23

Happy with my eyes and cheekbones and naturally full lips, and breasts that are a decent size but still perky without a bra. I was lucky with pregnancy, also no stretch marks. But I wish my legs were longer!

gratitutesmynewgratitute · 07/02/2021 21:24

Ha it could be a lot worse is how I see it. I think I look good in clothes for my age and having had 2 babies in the last 5 years.

I have lips that were the stuff of jokes in school, now people pay money for these lips 👄 I'm tall, good collar bones and long but muscular legs. Again my legs were something I hated when younger as the Kate Moss look was in and I've got thighs no butt though.

My stomach is a big Jelly due to one too many big babies lockdown biscuits 🍪

AlwaysLatte · 07/02/2021 21:25

Oh and I would love super long, thick hair. It's fine, though lots of it, and curly, and never looks right past shoulder length.

FluffyBlueJumper · 07/02/2021 21:30

From a purely aesthestic point of view, I like my face, my shoulders and my narrow waist.

But above all, I am grateful to have a body that carried and fed 4 healthy children, and that is still learning to do amazing things (double thigh slap jump burpees, anyone?). I honestly do not mind the stretch marks, the thinning hair and the first wrinkles.

mooncats · 09/02/2021 12:16

Like
My eyes , the colour and shape and the fact that they change colour and they're different in colour to each other
My lips - have asked if ive had them done but nope
My nose - also have been asked if done but no
My skin - glowy
My hair- thick shiny ringlets
My bum after years of building it through squatting
My legs

Don't like
My belly is wrinkly after 3 kids :(
My boobs - tiny
My eyebrows are gappy
My teeth but currently In braces

XingMing · 09/02/2021 13:18

I'm 64, and the body doesn't look the same as it did at 24, or 34, or 44, but it's still slimmish, strong and supple. The face is okay (especially when I take off the specs!) The bum is good, and the shoulders, collar bones and ankles are very neat. Let's just gloss over the wrinkles, and the grey hair.

Keepyourdistance000 · 09/02/2021 13:20

Absolutely nothing at the moment, but I feel much better about it when I regularly go to the gym.

dudsville · 09/02/2021 13:23

OP, I think its time to shift your mind set, so ok you can identify things you don't like. Now that you've fine that you don't need to keep on. Really start to focus on identifying what you like. I always start with what functions well because I'm grateful for that, and then to what i find pleasing, don't just use your sight - i don't like the feel of a role of skin when I'm slouching, but the skin is soft to the touch.

WishingHopingThinkingPraying · 09/02/2021 13:28

It works! And has no pain.

Also I seem to be quite slim no matter what I eat so that's handy.

augustusglupe · 09/02/2021 13:30

My very thick hair
My eyes. They slant upwards a little and are hazel, but more dark green.
My full lips. Curtesy of mum, ditto my eyes.
I'm tall and have really good angular shoulders and a fairly small waist.
Thanks OP you've made me focus on the good bits rather than my small boobs and dumpy legs Smile

Keepyourdistance000 · 09/02/2021 13:32

Same here, which is definitely something to be grateful for.

I'm not slim though.

StarlightLady · 09/02/2021 15:09

I like my thick hair and my nipples which are quite large. I also like the fact l have very fine minimal body hair. I still whip it all off, but it’s nice to have less to remove.

Blondiney · 09/02/2021 15:25

I must be having a really shit day cause I can't think of a damn thing. All of it is subpar, put together from the rejects pile. Not one thing is decent without help.

I'm not dead and never get ill, so there's that. Smile

AprilThe8th · 09/02/2021 15:44

My large brown eyes, waist and boobs

Huzzah for being alive.

DontBeShelfish · 09/02/2021 17:49

Oh, I love this thread! Ok, what do I like...

Full lips
Long eyelashes
Defined waist
Big boobs!
Strong legs.

There are lots of things about my body I dislike, especially now that I'm at my heaviest, but I do think I've got a really attractive face so I'm going to give myself a pat on the back for that. Grin

Changi · 09/02/2021 18:00

My bum has broken a few hearts back in the day

Mine's broken a few chairs.

DeusEx · 09/02/2021 18:05

@Changi

My bum has broken a few hearts back in the day

Mine's broken a few chairs.

Ha! I laughed at both of these comments Grin

This is a really nice idea rather than usual talking about what we hate!

I agree with a PP that seeing other women naked helps / is instructive. I had an ex girlfriend who I thought had the most perfect body, which was also the polar opposite of mine - yet she was so worried about being naked and talked about hating all the things I physically liked about her!

I like my boobs. They are a pain for clothes buying and make my back hurt sometimes, but they are nothing if not impressive.

ChaToilLeam · 09/02/2021 18:20

I’m wee but strong and can hike for miles
Good bone structure and generally good skin, not many lines for my age
Full mouth
Still good knockers and a well proportioned figure
Now that I’ve stopped dyeing my hair, it’s gone a lovely silver colour.
Generally good health, I’m hardly ever ill

MerryChristmasToYou · 09/02/2021 18:36

@changi, Grin

My post was tongue-in-cheek. I'm glad that mine just works.

BatleyTownswomensGuild · 09/02/2021 18:42

I have very peachy skin - it's genetic. The women in my family don't wrinkle.

That's honestly about it. I could give you a massive long list of everything I hate about myself. I don't feel very body positive at all tbh.

AllMyPrettyOnes · 09/02/2021 18:54

My naturally, curly hair

I've got a nice, round, large bum. Love it Grin

Straight teeth

Full lips

Wish my boobs were bigger though. They're pretty small.
