What do you like about your body?

Inspired by post 'do you feel comfortable naked?'

I responded that no, I do not like being naked. But lots of people replied saying that they do and love their boobs, bum, legs, shoulders etc.

This got me thinking . . . What do I like about my body. I couldn't think of a single thing I would not change. I'm 52 so getting saggy and flabby. Nothing to admire here! Hair is thin, eyelashes too straight, feet of a troll etc.

What do you love about your body?

@M0rT Thank you for posting. I was just thinking that there was nothing in particular that I like about mine, but having read your comment, you made me reconsider.

Like you, I can't do the things many people take for granted, but the fact that we are alive with our damaged & badly-functioning bodies is pretty fantastic really! More power to us!!

Here, share my 💐 and 🎂🍩🍫 and 🥂 - we deserve it!

WhatKatyDidNxt · 06/02/2021 15:01

I’m going with slim delicate ankles, green eyes and my breasts (lm 40 and there 34DD but still pert). Also strong legs -handy for walking for miles and standing up for around 12 hours a day sometimes

VanillaAndOrange · 06/02/2021 15:32

The fact that it is healthy and has good stamina. And I love my hair colour (natural ginger).

TeaAddict235 · 06/02/2021 15:59

I like everything tbh.

M0rT · 06/02/2021 16:38

@RoseyOldCrow exactly "every day you put a foot on the floor" Smile

Boogiewoody · 06/02/2021 16:42

All of it. The only thing I'm not keen on is the saggy bit at the bottom of my tummy but if I didn't have that I wouldn't have my DC so I don't hate it.

Anothernamebitesthedust · 06/02/2021 16:50

I wish I could be so positive, especially given posts above. In reality I spent my ether childhood and teens being put on a diet...I don’t think you recover from being told by those you love the most for as long as you can remember that your body isn’t is wrong and needs to change. I haven’t.

Everything.

My body's amazing; it's just my face that lets the ensemble down a bit Grin

Tisforptarmigan · 06/02/2021 17:33

After reading your replies, I have thought of some positives. So thank you all.
I have had two children, without problems, and breastfed them both for a year.
I may be ageing but don’t have a creaky body that struggles to get out of bed like some people I know my age. My hair is no longer greasy as it was in my youth - thanks menopause.

I have never had a serious illness, and my husband seems to think I’m still sexy. I have very little grey a hair and don’t need to dye it.

I wish I could love the look of my body but it's too squishy atm, not too bad when I'm slimmer, my thighs and legs always stay slim though whatever my weight.

I'm happy with my face. There's nothing outstanding about any of my individual features but they work together just fine!

Very few grey hairs at 40.

I like my waist too. Need to lose a few stone but gotta focus on the positive!

MrsBobDylan · 06/02/2021 17:52

I have madly curly hair and now I cut and colour it myself I like it even more.

My eyes are a grey/green colour and I am glad that my legs and arms etc all function.

It is the inside bits I wasn't so keen on. I actually like myself now I'm in my 40s. I think my personality is ok and I can make my kids laugh. I am a good listener and love being kind and helpful.

TheDaydreamBelievers · 06/02/2021 18:02

I struggle with body image and regularly feel unhappy about my body and photos but:

I have great bouncy shiny long hair, it's a nice colour and in good condition
I like my green eyes
My boobs are a nice shape
My bum is a nice shape
I like the freckles on my arms
I'm healthy and strong

Sickoffamilydrama · 06/02/2021 18:21

I've recently been working on loving myself more which includes exercising (only a smallish amount) and it does really help with your self image.
I love my slim ankles, slim mostly cellulite free legs, curvy hips and bum, small waist (compared to the hips not to the 'norm', good boobs, long slim arms and fingers. Bouncy curly hair, a nice face.

I'm not to happy with my stomach below my belly button thanks to child no3 I've got an overhang that I'm struggling to shift.

I have a love hate relationship with my knees as I dislocated them a lot so they can be bastard's at times when they are painful, problem is I can't live with them can't live without them Wink

pomegranatefudge · 06/02/2021 18:23

Loved reading these and I never focus on the positives of my body so have had a think:

  • My hourglass shape and small waist
  • Slim, strong, shapely legs
  • My bum is my favourite bit!
  • I like my arms because they're toned
  • My décolletage
  • My skin is really soft
  • My skin on my face is clear and soft (used to have awful acne)
  • I like my smile

Thanks OP, I could write a longer list about what I don't like but for now I'm going to focus on these!

BobbinThreadbare123 · 06/02/2021 18:30

This is a nice thread. Much better than focusing on the negatives.
I've got very thick hair
I've got a very generous but well shaped pert bust
I've got a defined stomach ie you can see my weightlifting efforts
I have neat ankles
I've got strong teeth (no fillings etc)
My body is just about still going despite fighting chronic illness. I wouldn't alter it; I just don't get cosmetic surgery and I'm in charge of keeping it fit.

SnotLongTilEaster · 06/02/2021 18:31

I’ve been weight training recently, and I really enjoy my new found muscles. When I’m training, I enjoy watching myself in the mirror Blush

ginandwineandbaileys · 06/02/2021 22:26

I used to hate my body from my teens to my thirties. Until it occurred to me, that others admired it - both men and women. So it most be ok. Now after having three c sections, I still love it, even my scarred knees

lavendervay · 07/02/2021 13:22

I have really thick, long hair that is in pretty decent condition that I love.

My eyebrows have a lovely natural shape and I never need to tweeze them (I do tint them though).

I have very bright blue eyes.

My teeth are straight after years of braces as teen and are also nice and white.

I have nice boobs too!

I'm a size 20 with a round tummy covered in stretch marks so there is a lot I would change, but plenty I like too Smile

Cam2020 · 07/02/2021 13:32

I like my hourglass figure, my height, my hair and my prominent collar bone.

It's hard at first for me to think of the things I like, my instinct is to say nothing!

peaceanddove · 07/02/2021 16:26

I like my face, I have symmetrical features and good skin. I also have very good legs, slim thighs, dainty ankles and a small, pert bum. I've always been complemented on having elegant shoulders, too.

I used to have great boobs (34G) and in the right bra and a plunge neckline I could bring grown men to their knees Grin But had surgery for breast cancer last year so one boob is now reduced to a 34E and has been lifted 4" inches higher up my torso, than the other. I look faintly ridiculous and can't wait to be evened up ( my operation has been delayed since last July!).
