I cannot get the right copper colour hair dye!!
I've recently tried one version which was a bit too light and orange and another which was a bit too dark and came out more burgundy than copper although now its fading its getting closer to the colour I wanted!
So I have a box of the too light and a box of the too dark - can I mix them up in the hope that I'll get the colour I want?
Is it that simple?

I haven't been copper for years so not sure if it still exists but there was a really good copper by Superdrug. Mango something.

Feria Mango is a fantastic shade. I think they've changed the name to Preference now or something.

But red and copper are the hardest shades to achieve. It might be something you should wait for the salon for.

Oh no CoffeeCheeseand Cupcakes!! Had bad is it? I think you should put a photo up to show me! 😁
I've bought the Mango twist that a poster mentioned but just haven't had the time to try it yet. I think I might buy a couple of neutral blonde dyes in case it goes wrong!

The trouble is Pennethorne, I've tried hairdressers - taken in pics of what I want and come out burgundy!
I even asked a friend to describe the colour of the hair in the pictures, thinking maybe I was seeing it differently to everyone else - like that blue/white dress thing a few years ago - but she described it as copper too and nothing like the colour on my head!!
I'd rather pay £5/6 for a home dye than over £100 for a salon colour that isn't what I want! 😃

@Allbymyself1 I actually think it looks okay in photos...but honestly, trust me when I say it's serious orange in person.

I'm thinking I'll try and fade it a bit with H&S and then use purple shampoo to cancel out the orange a bit. Will see how that goes! Or maybe a mid-blonde would lift it?

Prettyconfused · 20/02/2021 19:09

If you want to cancel the orange get yourself blue shampoo. Purple will cancel the bleachy yellow tones you get on blondes.

CoffeeCheeseandCupcakes - I must admit, it looks gorgeous in the photo!

@Allbymyself1 Hah maybe it's just shock...DH has convinced me to sleep on it and see what I think in the morning before I do anything else to it
