I cannot get the right copper colour hair dye!!
I've recently tried one version which was a bit too light and orange and another which was a bit too dark and came out more burgundy than copper although now its fading its getting closer to the colour I wanted!
So I have a box of the too light and a box of the too dark - can I mix them up in the hope that I'll get the colour I want?
Is it that simple?

Mix a teeny bit and try it on a bit if hair that won’t be seen.

CoffeeCheeseandCupcakes · 07/02/2021 13:56

Oo that's lovely @Nyctophyllia and not to sound like a weirdo, but you're eyes are stunning

Allbymyself1 · 07/02/2021 14:44

Nyctophyllia what colour were you before?
Just wondering if you've put this on brown or blonde hair?

I use infuse my colour shampoo the copper one - it's lovely! Have a look I have darker hair than you and it brings out lovely tones in my hair. It covered my grey strays too.

Nyctophyllia · 07/02/2021 15:15

I was dark brown/ red before but I used 2 boxes of colour remover before dying it
I think I did a thread on here while doing it with pics

Nyctophyllia · 07/02/2021 15:20

It fades really quickly but I prefer it slightly faded, I bought a copper conditioner to use between times

NaughtyNell · 08/02/2021 08:56

Mango Twist XXL is a good copper

CrystalMaisie · 08/02/2021 09:01

To answer your question, yes you can mix half of one bottle with half of the other, with a whole bottle of developer. They are both the same brand.

rosierose10 · 08/02/2021 09:17

Yes this is what I use after trying loads of different ones that weren't the colour I wanted, some of which you mentioned you have tried.

For some reason it looks more brown on the pic, it's definitely more copper/ginger in real life.

NaughtyNell · 08/02/2021 11:59

Rosie Rose looks very natural. I have natural.auburn hair but it's got quite a few white/grey hairs now so I use Nice and Easy medium auburn which is the closest i can get to my natural colour. I have used mango Twist before and liked it although it wasnt as natural looking on me.

DicklessWonder · 08/02/2021 16:55

Xxl is an absolute bastard to remove though.

Something to do with metallic salts?

Allbymyself1 · 10/02/2021 20:32

Rosierose10 - what colour were you before?
That's a lovely colour. I'm quite blonde as I bleached mine a few months ago so not sure if I'd get the same result as you?

Thank you, I was a medium brown beforehand but I tried having it done at the hairdressers where they bleached my hair and then coloured it but it was a disaster, it was bright orange, so fake looking and very uneven. I then tried a few at home myself including nice n easy light auburn which wasn't what I wanted so then tried mango twist which is the exact colour I was looking for. I now just re-do my hair with the dye around every 4 weeks (as my roots come through quickly).
CoffeeCheeseandCupcakes · 11/02/2021 15:16

@rosierose10 Did you do the mango twist over the nice and easy colour?

I have bleached hair (with crazy lockdown roots!) but want to go that shade of ginger but worried about it going bright orange!

Allbymyself1 · 11/02/2021 15:29

Snap CoffeeCheeseand Cupcakes - bleached blonde hair with darker roots that have some grey.
I think one of us should try the mango twist and then we can report back on whether it goes fluorescent orange or a lovely copper ?
You go first!!!! 😁

Yeah and it turned out fine, colour always fades a little after a few washes anyway but it didn't go as bright as it did on the box thankfully

Majirel tube off ebay for £7 and 20 vol peroxide...dont know if they do your shade but this product covers well and long lasting.

Spaceprincess · 11/02/2021 23:43

@Allbymyself1 my daughters hair (naturally mid brown) is that colour, she uses olia Mango

CoffeeCheeseandCupcakes · 12/02/2021 08:43

Hahah @Allbymyself1! I've currently got faded Casting Creme 734 on, so wondering if I put Mango Twist on top it would work / not be horrible?!

Might try this weekend...

supercee · 12/02/2021 09:12

@CoffeeCheeseandCupcakes what does your 734 look like? I went from platinum to now a honey blonde box dye but I have a box of castings 634 chestnut honey. I don't mind my actual colour but I hate my roots. Keep debating chucking the 634 on it but will probably end up regretting it.

Bettina500 · 12/02/2021 09:21

I've just used Garnier Nutrisse 7.40 Copper Passion and it's a really nice colour, the only place it's gone too orange was on my hairline where my greys are really white (I knew it was going to happen but did it anyway!)
Casting Creme Gloss in Amber is lovely but washed out quite quickly.
Olia do a copper that has good reviews. YouTube has some review videos of it.
I'm interested in esalon too as I keep seeing adverts. I also saw David Field Watercolour natural dyes mentioned on here and they look interesting.

CoffeeCheeseandCupcakes · 12/02/2021 09:23

@supercee This was when I first put it on. It was really light over the bleach, but did help blend the roots. It fades quickly though. I've used red depositing shampoo a couple times which makes it look rose gold

supercee · 12/02/2021 09:42

@CoffeeCheeseandCupcakes yeah that looks nice and natural.

CoffeeCheeseandCupcakes · 20/02/2021 14:07

@Allbymyself1 Well my hair is now highlighter orange...not what I was going for!! So if you've not done it yet, I'd recommend against it. I ended up using Garnier Nutrisse Copper Passion. Now I need to go get some H&S to try and fade this...
