Hush - couple of questions

I’m looking to order a few new bits as my clothes are all looking tired & worn (as am I!). Since wfh I have become scruffy & have no idea how to look nice anymore with clothes. I think this is also due to my age, 45, I feel too old for some shops but not ready for others.

I’ve been looking at Hush and quite like the casual style but it seems expensive, for me anyway.
Just wanted some opinions on it really - is it worth £30 for a tshirt that looks similar to a much cheaper one in H&M? And £50 for joggers?

I want to start buying fewer clothes but better quality that will last well. Do the Hush clothes last well?

No

Zengarden001 · 31/01/2021 10:02

In my opinion they do lots of fun, casual stuff but it's overpriced for the quality that you get.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 31/01/2021 10:02

No. I've got some cotton jackets from there that are brilliant, but nothing else is great.

Uptoongirl · 31/01/2021 10:07

I like their style but the stuff I've got (mainly dresses) is not worth the prices in terms of quality. If I'm buying from there I always buy in the sale. Tbh if you are looking for quality pieces that are going to last I wouldn't recommend them, sale or not.

Littlemiss74 · 31/01/2021 10:07

Ok thank you - where’s best to get similar look but cheaper & still decentish quality - so far I’m thinking H&M and Next..?

I got a couple of summer dresses from there in the sale, they are lovely. Jeans too, love them. Joggers got shabby very quickly, and I think tops and jumpers are not worth the money. Great design but the quality doesn't match. Ordered a coat and sent it back, it felt cheap.
Mint velvet seems better value for money.

NotMyDayJob · 31/01/2021 10:10

I really like Hush stuff but can rarely justify the cost. H & M do some nice joggers and similar items

ZaraW · 31/01/2021 10:10

I never understood the MN love for Hush. Poor quality and overpriced.

Juliancoped · 31/01/2021 10:13

Some hush stuff is good. Its hit and miss. Baukjen is good quality.

MrTrellis · 31/01/2021 10:16

No! I have a few pieces from Hush but only things that were in the sale or were totally different from anything that could be got from H&M or Next.
Joggers and t shirts aren’t in this category.

ladyvimes · 31/01/2021 10:18

Too expensive for what you get in my opinion. I like H&M, Next and Monki.

Hoppinggreen · 31/01/2021 10:22

I buy quite a bit from Hush
Some of it pretty over priced I agree but I think it’s a bit more unusual that Next for example

Pootle40 · 31/01/2021 10:24

I'm for 45 and I like Hush, Mint Velvet, Boden, White Stuff, Fat Face.

Used to love Next but their quality is dire. One wash and looks crap.

I'd rather buy M&S than next.

John Lewis own brand is nice too.

ilovebrie8 · 31/01/2021 10:24

No not worth the prices the quality is poor, had a few t shirts came out in holes and I bought the star jumper few years back it’s very poor quality. Vastly over priced for the quality ...

JaniceBattersby · 31/01/2021 10:26

The pyjamas are good. Aside from that I’ve been disappointed with the quality for price.

Twinkie01 · 31/01/2021 10:34

Their harem pants and joggers are worth it and their sweatshirts but their t shirts are shite.

GeidiPrimes · 31/01/2021 10:39

I've never had any problems with Hush - I like their joggers and harem pants + some of their jumpers. Their sizing is huge though, more like American sizing, so a 10 is more like a 14.

Bluewavescrashing · 31/01/2021 10:41

Sainsbury's quality is much better than Hush. They have some lovely pieces.

WildCherryBlossom · 31/01/2021 21:19

The cut and styling of Hush clothes is great, but the fabrics are often not as good as they ought to be for the price. Get one or two pieces (ideally in the sale) and blend with stuff from other places. Zara is cheaper and useful for adding a few in-trend items to your basic wardrobe but the quality of Zara can be questionable. Uniqlo is decent quality, low price for basics.

WorriedMillie · 31/01/2021 21:23

The few things I’ve bought from Hush have washed out really quickly, I’ve had far better quality leisure wear from Primark (at 1/5 of the price)

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 31/01/2021 21:49

The knitwear is awful, but I got some lovely barrel leg cords in the JL sale at Christmas and am really pleased with them. Agree sizing tends to be very big.

Littlemiss74 · 31/01/2021 22:02

Ok thank you, perhaps I’ll keep looking elsewhere then

I like fat Face for casual stuff, they have regular sales too. I've had some stuff from them that's lasted years.

MoltonSilver · 01/02/2021 00:24

If the goal is not to look scruffy, avoid Hush. The clothes are lovely, the styling is lovely. Anything I have ever bought from there has looked like a pile of rags after a few washes.

LaurieFairyCake · 01/02/2021 00:27

Can I push you towards Scamp and Dude - very cool relaxed vibe, everything washes great. Small business.
