Light, waterproof walking boots?

Usernamenotavailabletryanother · 27/01/2021 23:04

I need some proper waterproof walking boots for, well, walks Grin

I’d like them to be tan ideally, but possibly red- as light and bouncy as trainers but more grippy and able to cope with mud etc. I don’t do hill walking regularly, but it would be nice if they could cope with that too...

I’d like some to last a few years, budget up to about £150, but could go a little further if they were amazing.

Any ideas gratefully received Smile

I've just bought some from Northwest , Keele high. They are great.

tenlittlecygnets · 27/01/2021 23:51

Only about £40 - and my last ones were £100..

Usernamenotavailabletryanother · 28/01/2021 22:28

Thanks, not keen on the ones I saw. I thought you might have a link to some more like I’m after. Really want brown or red.

Any other ideas very welcome Smile

I have these

They are light, waterproof, look very neat/unclumpy and very comfortable right from the 1st wear

AnyFucker · 28/01/2021 22:41

I like these too

They are Italian made and actually look very neat and stylish

Lucked · 28/01/2021 23:27

I like Keen. These tan boots are on sale but limited sizes. red here.

I’ve got On running shoes and will get their hiking boots when I need to replace mine - www.on-running.com/en-gb/explore/womens/shoes

I like these Keen ones and these berghaus ones, but still not loving them for the price...

Would never have thought of those brands though, thank you.

I have these: www.shoesmegastore.com/gb/regatta-womens-bayley-iii-faux-leather-insulated-casual-boots/p-53720537-108561901?language=en&ac=shoesmegastore&gclid=CjwKCAiAgc-ABhA7EiwAjev-j-DLNBPIRvR3Mt9QC7Qn7BYl20cI-ShpHlKgnlgcWU21koXQPf7WgBoCK8cQAvD_BwE

I thought they'd be pretty flimsy but they're actually really warm, waterproof, have decent grip and look nice - quite the bargain!

Usernamenotavailabletryanother · 29/01/2021 09:56

@AnyFucker, couldn’t see the ones you linked as I think they’re out of stock... good prices on that site though!

They’re nice, @GravityFalls; I think I want something more trainer-like and bouncy though. Brilliant price!

I know that Hotter is a no-no word on this site, but Hotter Have Gore-tex walking shoes, very lightweight. I have the Ridge ones in blue, but the Mist come in maroon and tan.

yearinyearout · 29/01/2021 10:01

I'm assuming you're looking for something stylish given where you've posted, but I find scarpa gtx the most comfy and best quality lightweight walking boots.

GeidiPrimes · 29/01/2021 11:07

I have these Sorel ones, (got them in the sale) they're so comfy, (like wearing bouncy trainers) and waterproof.

murbblurb · 29/01/2021 11:11

Mountain Warehouse, bloke section if your feet are big enough. don't buy anything aimed at women as it will be shit by definition.

DOINGOURBIT · 29/01/2021 13:32

Cheap and cheerful, but super comfy.

Bought these £9.99 with a birthday voucher. Would really recommend

Berghaus Supalite II GTX.

Brasher boots by another name since Berghaus bought out Brasher a few years ago.

I bought my first pair in 2001 and they only gave up on me last year! Nearly 20 years of regular solid use isn't bad value! Lighter than any of my trainers, sooo comfy. I suffer from Raynauds and never get cold toes in these, highly recommend them.

ducktape · 29/01/2021 19:43

DH has hoka one one sky toa goretex walking boots. They are ridiculously light, waterproof and (he says) supremely comfortable. He bought me some of the trainers for Christmas and they are fab, I have basically only taken them off to sleep since Christmas day!
