Does anyone still shop in Boden? (Of course they do but ya know) What do you recommend? I never see anything that sparks my fancy anymore...

Hmm the Richmond trousers are £80... Will wait until I'm definitely not WFH before I try them!

riotlady · 29/01/2021 16:31

I have this dress in a couple of different colours- it’s comfy, flattering and it has pockets

@Toilenstripes, I agree, everything seems to have a high neck, virtually nothing for anyone remotely busty. I did love their V neck Ravello so of course they did away with it ☹️

Snapsnapcrocodile · 29/01/2021 19:27

Predictably, I like their Richmond trousers.
The plain cropped cardigans are useful with dresses.
I have a few Ravello tops which are a great shape on me (apple) and good for work, but they seem to have been discontinued.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 29/01/2021 19:28

I buy a few bits, but only when very reduced. Usually the plain black stuff, or black printed dresses.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 29/01/2021 19:28

Just ordered a black Ravello and a black jumper.

I’ve given up on Boden for anything other than kids’ clothes. Quality is hit and miss, they use far too many synthetics for my liking and I generally think their clothes are a bit “middle-aged GP” (very safe/respectable but quite ageing, basically!)

LOL. As a middle-aged GP, I agree Grin

Wait for a discount - there will be one along in a minute!

Their petite length jeans are perfect on me, but as I've got a blue skinny pair and a blue mum Jean cut pair at the moment, im not sure I'll buy any this year - although they've got a mint green pair that might be quite cute for spring summer with white shirts...

Most summers I buy a Jersey dress to add to my summer dress collection then retire an old one. Last years one is hardly worn. (They are a holiday evening staple and I've been nowhere since 2019). Also their summer shorts and vest tops are good. I like their silk tops for under jackets. I've got a couple of their cashmere cardies and they seem to look like new forever. I have a couple of their smart casual winter dresses that are several years old and great for winter lunches out, but didn't find anything I liked this year (and had no meals out booked anyway).

Basically, I like the un-fun basics they do. When they try too hard, it doesn't work for me.

BeautifulStar · 29/01/2021 20:47

Just to let you know you can get 20% off at the mo with discount code 6T2C - I used it yesterday.

I love the Amelie dresses and the longer sleeved version too! Got about 8 of them. Super flattering on my chubby pear shape.

Pinkfreesias · 29/01/2021 22:55

I have 3 of the Kristen midi skirts. The fabric is lovely and the way that the flare of the pleats is cut is fabulous. They're £120, though, so I'm waiting for the next sizable discount before I order another one.

WhatsYourNameMan · 29/01/2021 22:57

Oh I'm definitely up for buying Richmond trousers on eBay, thanks Braeburn.

Just need to figure out if I'm a 10 or 12 as I find with Boden a 10 can be a bit neat and a 12 a bit baggy, but it varies a lot between styles. I'm also 5ft3 so possibly the petite ones would work...

Off to browse!

Thecazelets · 29/01/2021 23:00

Was just about to make a sneery remark about Boden and then realised I am wearing a grey velvet skirt I bought from there in about 2009 and which still looks lovely. So may have to go and have a look. I stopped buying when the dc all refused to wear it any more. Still get sent the mini Boden catalogues even though my youngest is in Y10!

MrsSchadenfreude · 29/01/2021 23:11

I have quite a lot of their dresses for work, and some more casual ones for holidays. They wash and wear well. I avoid the madder patterns. I find the fit consistent, but the length less so, on the same style. If I change my mind about something I stick it on eBay. And sometimes I get more than what I spent originally.

Hoppinggreen · 29/01/2021 23:28

I like their chino shorts and I have got a couple of nice jumpers

user1497787065 · 30/01/2021 01:25

I always buy their leggings. Nice high rise to them and they don it lose their colour and they last ages.

TokyoSashimi · 30/01/2021 07:28

I also buy alot of the kids stuff. Chinos and cords. DS likes them and as he has sensory issues around clothes that is a win for me. Plus the quality- I am just about to recycle a pair of chinos he wore probably every day last summer and they are like brand new.

Snapsnapcrocodile · 30/01/2021 07:40

Yes, the kids’ clothes are great quality. My daughter will now only wear Boden bodysuits; they are the softest, apparently. Also, the kids’ leggings are the only ones that don’t fade in the wash, I’ve found.

However, I’m not so keen on all the rainbow flaps/appliqué/hotchpotch nonsense.

TokyoSashimi · 30/01/2021 07:41

Also the vests which my DS loves. Great stripey colours and soft!

I need to buy some more now I think about it.

MinkyWinky · 30/01/2021 07:55

I’m buying less and less from them as they’re using artificial fabrics more and more. They ultimately end up smelling Sad. A lot of their t-shirts are really thin now too.

I do like their Richmond trousers too! Their wrap dresses are often too high waisted and I can’t wear crew necks... I usually order loads and send most of it back.

The kids wear is good quality and my daughter loves their pointelle tops as they’re so soft.

HavfrueDenizKisi · 30/01/2021 08:03

I used to buy quite a bit from them but haven't for several years now. I found at one point their dresses were all too short and they've gone a lot more synthetic material too. Plus I agree their dresses are all too high necked (large of nork here).

I do occasionally buy a fresh cashmere cardigan and the odd dress as long as it's plain and doesn't scream Boden.

My kids won't wear mini boden at all - they are 9 and 12 and have refused for a few years!
