Well fitting bra for tween

Hi, my daughter is a 28” under and and 31” at the fullest. I’m looking to buy her some well fitting bras. No underwires, nothing frilly. I’m going to have to buy online and try at hone so I need a starting point. I’m not keen on M&S and was always a Rigby and Peller or Bravissimo woman myself pre mastectomy. Thanks

Sorry, should have said. I think she’s a 28 D but I’ve been looking at Royce teen bras and they use the old fashioned adding 4 or 5 inches method and there she’s a 32AA. Does that sound possible?

If she's 28 inches under her bust she needs a 28 band size. Have a look at the boob or bust website (or it might be a Facebook page) for help measuring. I wear a 32 and am a size 12 so unless she's big for her age it's unlikely she'd need a 32.

funtimefrank · 23/01/2021 13:11

Don't overlook m&s for teens. My sporty pre teen dds have a bra from there which they both find really comfy. Matalan also got some good reviews when I asked previously but are always out of stock when I try.

Both of my dds are very slight but boob wise seem to be following in their mother's footsteps and were complaining crop tops weren't cutting the mustard jiggle wise. They measured at a 26 c but obviously that doesn't really exist so both do well with a 28b.

MrTrellis · 23/01/2021 13:18

Thanks, okay I’ll have a look at M&S and Matalan. And the boob and bust website.
We tried a 28C from George and she said it was too uncomfortable. I don’t know if that was because the band was too right or the cup was too small or something else.
I think Royce actually make their bras in the “old way”. My niece had a 28 back one from there, I measured the band and it was 24”!
DD is slim and long bodied

We spent ages trying on various sizes and styles in M&S and found the perfect ones for DD when she was 12. It's really the best place to start imho

AliCanTea · 23/01/2021 13:27

I second the Boob or Bust Facebook page for accurate measuring. Also you could try Molke bras - I’m a 28 and their XS band size is great (they have a range of ‘cup’ sizes too, and are really supportive, even though the style is more like a wrap crop top).

beingmorepositive · 23/01/2021 13:43

M&S do a teen range called Angel and they come in 28

MrTrellis · 23/01/2021 14:46

Great, thank you.
Matalan don’t seem to have much stock and don’t do small back sizes.
Boob and Bust suggests she’s a 28D so I’ll get her a few M&S Angel bras to try. I think the sports one might be the first one to go for.

A D cup seems very big for a tween....what she is she?

Anoisagusaris · 23/01/2021 14:49

That should say ‘what age is she’!

MrsPnut · 23/01/2021 14:51

I would try a 30c to begin with, going from no bra to a tight band is difficult.
Dd2 liked the M&S angel bras and also primark had some similar when they reopen.

Scarby9 · 23/01/2021 14:53

M&S Angel

OakleyStreetisnotinChelsea · 23/01/2021 14:53

How about figleaves? Free returns and size exchange so you can send several parcels backwards and forwards and they do lots of lovely non underwired bras and bralettes.

Bandino · 23/01/2021 16:21

Sloggi do nice unfairly ones.

Bandino · 23/01/2021 16:21

Unfrilly

Have a look at Boob or Bust- A "d" cup on a 28 band is the same as 32b or 34a. There is no such thing as a "D" cup in isolation. A 28d is really quite small, a 38d will be much larger. Smile
MrTrellis · 23/01/2021 19:15

I can’t find many 28D in soft cup, anyway. I’ll try the M&S sports bra.
I’ll have a look at Sloggi but I seem to temper they don’t go as small as a 28 back. I’ll look at Figleanes and Molke, thanks.
I think she’s a D but maybe a C but she’s not getting any smaller! It’s so difficult to tell without having anything to try on. She is almost 12 but puberty strikes them all so differently I’m not sure if that means much.
I do see what you mean by trying a 30 but I spent years of my life being a 28 GG before there was such a thing. I found 30s rode up my back and were uncomfortable. And 34 was usually the smallest back size available.

OP posts:
FlyingByTheSeatof · 25/01/2021 11:50

Go for a 30 C then and see if that fits.

FlyingByTheSeatof · 25/01/2021 11:51

A sports bra will squash her boobs and look really unflattering

Comefromaway · 25/01/2021 11:52

I found John Lewis good when dd was the rocking horse shit size of 28C.

28D is not big. It is the equivalent cup size of 30C, 32B and 34A.

My dd also started with M&S angel bras

littlepeas · 25/01/2021 12:22

My dd measures very similarly and I got her a 30C from M&S - just a 2 pack, plain white bras. They fit well.

Remaker · 25/01/2021 12:33

My DD wears a 30D by preference but is also quite comfortable in a 32C. Generally you can go up a chest size and down a cup size successfully. Once they are in a C/D cup I’d only use sports bras for sport and try to find a proper fitting bra for everyday wear.

Whatwouldscullydo · 25/01/2021 13:39

Where did the last ones come from? Do they not do the next sizes up?

Asda ones aren't bad actually. Cheap too

Surely the bra stretches to fit the 28 back size. They aren't going to measure 28 unstretched
