Well fitting bra for tween

Hi, my daughter is a 28” under and and 31” at the fullest. I’m looking to buy her some well fitting bras. No underwires, nothing frilly. I’m going to have to buy online and try at hone so I need a starting point. I’m not keen on M&S and was always a Rigby and Peller or Bravissimo woman myself pre mastectomy. Thanks

14yo DD1 has been wearing the M&S Angel sports bras since she started wearing bras. I find the normal Angel range a bit too 'dainty' for want of a better word - with very narrow straps and bands. I think for a girl new to wearing bras, the wider bands and straps on the sports ones are preferable. They vary in sizes so I'd recommend trying a variety of band/cup sizes. here

I don’t think a decent bra would stretch 4 inches. Honestly, there was no way it was going near her.
She’s been wearing a Nike sport bra for sport and crop tops otherwise. I did try loads during first lock down but she found them all too uncomfortable. The Asda ones were the best, and I agree are great bras for a cheap price ( how, who isn’t getting paid?) but the straps are too thin for her. Same experience as Mejon I suppose.
Asda has stopped doing 28 back in anything larger than a B cup.

Some bands come up tighter than others.
Think we may have found some in debenhams too but that was a few years ago

Dd is a size 6 and wears a 32D - it's hard to work out bras without trying on. Unless she's very petite 28 might be too tight, my DD's found it better to have a size up whilst they got used to wearing a bra

movingonup20 · 25/01/2021 17:24

Ps once she's a 32, the asda t shirt bras are good, very cheap and comfortable

Don't know how much you are willing to spend:

32 is awfully large for size 6
Dd is size 10 and wears a 30 back
I'm a size 20/22 and wear a 36 back

Whatwouldscullydo · 25/01/2021 17:26

Honestly just make do with a few cheapy asda jobs fir now then when lockdown is lifted hit Victoria secret. The pink range is good for teens

That's my plan anyway Grin

MrTrellis · 25/01/2021 17:58

I doubt she’ll ever be a 32 back. I was a 28 until I had children and my ribs expanded and I’m a 30 now.
I’ll have a look at what’s available but will probably keep her in crop tops if I can’t get anything in a likely size. I do like the M&S sports bras though...

The best way to assess if the band is the right size is to put a bra on back to front and do it up underneath the bust (so the cups are resting on your back). If it is comfy, it's the right size. Too loose, you need a smaller band and so on.
Then you can find the right cup size. If it becomes deathly tight when it's turned the 'right way round' you need to increase the cup size.

My local lingerie shop do a fitting online. They have a facebook page and website. It's called hidden agenda based in botley Hampshire

I’ll check that shop out, thanks Mumof1andacat
