Have you bought a white trilby, but ended up looking like a fishmonger? Have you purchased an outfit in forest green and been recommended a life in Sherwood Forest?
Those of us who have made many a fashion faux pas are offering a service. Run it by us first. Unless you have effortless style. We're here to help.

Hmm not my cup of tea. It makes me think of some kind of boho travelling rug. I tend to avoid bold, bright stuff as I prefer to stay in the background.
But each to their own.....

Purplethrow · 20/01/2021 13:35

@RaraRachael , this is a bit of a tongue in cheek thread where we all have fashion disasters but don’t learn from them Smile

Maireas · 20/01/2021 17:17

Purplethrow I keep getting that top popping up on mumsnet ads! They know of my sartorial mistakes. It's a bit Joseph, but also reminds me of those felt pictures we made in primary school.

I’ve ordered it now (will I ever learn ?)
I’ll give you a fashion show when it arrives.

Grin at Avril Lavigne's mum. Weirdly that is the 3rd mention I have heard of Avril Lavigne lately after not thinking about her at all for years!

KirstenBlest · 20/01/2021 18:01

I like the daisy dungarees.
I like the suede & leather shoes.

Deathraystare · 20/01/2021 18:07

Oh God. I had a two piece - red velveteen sweat top and trousers. I thought it looked good. One Christmas I turned up in it visiting my parents. "Hello Po!" said my Dad. Yep I looked like a telly tubbie!

RaraRachael · 20/01/2021 18:16

Sorry I don't get it Confused

Maireas · 20/01/2021 18:23

Please tell me you still wear it? Velveteen is such a lovely fabric!

We’re taking the mickey out of our fashion disasters- there’s another thread www.mumsnet.com/Talk/_chat/4138148-I-bought-a-white-coat-in-the-sales-to-look-like-Olivia-Pope-but-I-actually-resemble-a-middle-aged-taekwando-instructor

What do we think this dress will look like on a size 12/14 Janet with a big butt and a bit of a pouch? Yay or nay?

Maireas · 21/01/2021 07:28

I really like that dress Octopuscrazy!
Talk me out of it. I am 5' 1" and have nowhere to wear it.....

It's a very pretty dress. If we're could try on in a shop right now I'd definitely do that. Order it, take a photo & share with the thread.

Only thing, I remember Trinny saying something about a stripe near but not at the bottom of a trouser leg will make your legs look shorter.

ThinkWittyThoughts · 21/01/2021 13:43
  • I realise this is a dress not trousers, but wonder if the same applies?
Maireas · 22/01/2021 07:16

I was canvassing opinion on another thread about Melania's Gucci dress... I have got tempted... A kind mumsnet friend is looking for affordable alternatives. Any thoughts?

I thought this might be appropriate for work when I flounce back into the office a stylish and cool after lockdown. It's not 😂 It also goes with nothing I already own.

@Octopuscrazy Gosh that's a lot of pyjama material gone into the making of that nightie dress Grin

OutOfBread · 22/01/2021 08:45

If you stand really straight like the model I think it will be fine 😂

OutOfBread · 22/01/2021 08:48

It does look like it has a lot of material, I read that the problem with empire plus big lower half is that as soon as you move it becomes apparent where your hips are, I had this problem with more of a straight empire line dress, maybe the pleats will be ok though.

OutOfBread · 22/01/2021 08:49

Ps its not exactly like pyjamas just slightly reminiscent, I feel bad for my comment now!

OutOfBread · 22/01/2021 08:52

Amazon is selling a variety of clothes ranging from 49p if anyone is interested.
