Jowls and jawline

I am 56 and these last 12 months my face has melted. Deep grooves from nose to mouth, and saggy jowls and chins. It’s so noticeable on Zoom calls and is really ageing.
I am trying to lose weight and also cut down alcohol, but what is the best way to try and tighten things up - with a fairly limited budget. I’ve never had fillers or stuff like that but reading up on it, this seems to be an option. Can anyone advise , especially on what to avoid!

Me too...hoping someone comes along with suggestions.

yearinyearout · 10/01/2021 21:49

I'm not sure that losing weight helps. My dm lost weight when she was in middle age and it made her face sag even more!

WineNoMore20 · 10/01/2021 21:55

Korugi face massage, I do this 3 times a week using Rose oil, Face looks like after a facial and over the last 12 months has replaced a monthly CACI treatment, and it’s free.

Othering · 10/01/2021 21:57

There isn't a miracle fix unfortunately. You're looking at a deep plane facelift or fillers for a less radical but more subtle effect.

Ultherapy?

AngelinaJoliestoplip · 10/01/2021 22:21

I find castor oil really helps. I apply it on my lower cheeks at night and my neck using a make up brush. It’s really quite thick and sticky. It’s also the only thing that I’ve found that shifts my dark under eye circles and puffiness.

It costs about £4 for a bottle. I put it on about an hour before bed and by the time I’m going to bed, it’s sunk in a bit.

I’ve used really expensive creams in the past and tried various ‘face lift’ facials, and castor oil works better for me. Helps tighten and lift. I usually see a difference in the morning.

Maybe worth a try?

SunnyHens · 10/01/2021 22:27

Can you recommend a particular castor oil please AngelinaJoliestoplip?

Othering · 10/01/2021 22:33

@Babykoala1

Ultherapy?
Nooooooooo. Google reviews.
Emmie12345 · 10/01/2021 22:36

Botox ?

heyjude12 · 10/01/2021 22:36

Using a jade roller has tightened mine up significantly. I put my serum on , use my roller paying extra attention to my jowls. I've seen a difference within weeks

SuperHighway · 10/01/2021 22:37

I had a lower face and neck lift. It has taken 10 years off me. I was really nervous as I've never done botox, fillers etc. and I'm not vain, but my face didn't look like me anymore and I'd lost a lot of confidence. I'll definitely have it done again.

m00rfarm · 10/01/2021 22:41

I also had a lower face lift which made an amazing difference when I was 55. Even when I weighed 7 stone and was a beanpole I had never had a proper jaw line and as I got older it became worse. I will get it done again when the time comes without a doubt. Money well spent.

MargotLovedTom1 · 10/01/2021 22:44

How much were your lower facelifts, Super and Moor, if you don't mind me asking?

SuperHighway · 10/01/2021 22:59

I paid £3,800 for mine 3 years ago. Mine was actually what's called a modified one stitch lift.

That’s a fantastic result!
I’m 45 and watching my “pre-jowls” with trepidation

Babykoala1 · 10/01/2021 23:12

@Othering ohhh okay my bad. Just looked it up. Only ever heard of it in passing. Apparently it can speed up aging? Shock and the price?! Might as well get a big fuck off surgical face lift for that money

Just looked what up? What can speed up ageing?

Proper facelifts with specialists are very expensive. £15k plus.

Othering · 10/01/2021 23:21

Oh you mean ultherapy!! Sorry. Brain fart on my behalf there!! Yes, lots of bad reports of losing fat and looking even older.

Changemaname1 · 10/01/2021 23:23

Wow @SuperHighway !
Jawline envy Envy

SuperHighway · 10/01/2021 23:29

Ha ha, to be fair, that was taken not long after and things were very 'tight'. This is me now, and I've just realised it will be 4 years in March I had it done. Still pretty good.....

I use prai ageless throat and decolletage cream just under my chin. It works for me. Its not cheap but its probably cheaper than a facelift.

RavingAnnie · 10/01/2021 23:47

@SuperHighway

Here's my before and after...
Wow that's amazing!
Zofrasi · 11/01/2021 00:03

@SuperHighway great results! Was it a big procedure? Where did you get it?

GreenSalon · 11/01/2021 00:11

@SuperHighway how did you go about finding someone reliable?
