Jowls and jawline

I am 56 and these last 12 months my face has melted. Deep grooves from nose to mouth, and saggy jowls and chins. It’s so noticeable on Zoom calls and is really ageing.
I am trying to lose weight and also cut down alcohol, but what is the best way to try and tighten things up - with a fairly limited budget. I’ve never had fillers or stuff like that but reading up on it, this seems to be an option. Can anyone advise , especially on what to avoid!

Fillers will definitely help

justanotherneighinparadise · 11/01/2021 06:38

Lovely @SuperHighway. I’ve had my upper half done and I too will sort my lower half at some point 👌

scentedgeranium · 11/01/2021 06:51

@WineNoMore20 I'm googling Korugi now. I'm 54 and if I look at my mum can see that my face is going the way hers is (only natural I suppose!). Gonna have a look at this tho
@SuperHighway great results! Was it a big procedure? Where did you get it?
Hi, no it wasn't a big procedure but bigger than I thought it would be. It was under local anaesthetic and I didn't have a sedative (I could have but didn't want one).
The surgeon cut a U shape around each ear, pulled the jaw muscle up and stitched it and then smoothed and cut away excess skin from the neck. I had to wear a face support mask for a few days and it was a bit sore but not too bad. Quite bad bruising though. I chose dissolving stitches so I didn't need to go back a week later (went at 2 weeks for follow-up) but I wouldn't recommend that as I was picking bits of stitch from the area for months.

Do lots of research to find a good surgeon. Mine was in Birmingham. I won't give details as whenever I recommend anything to anyone it never goes well 😄

May I ask how old you are? I am thinking about this

SuperHighway · 11/01/2021 07:22

I was 55 when I had the procedure, 58 now.

DailyCandy · 11/01/2021 07:33

You still look fabulous.

LadyTiredWinterBottom2 · 11/01/2021 08:08

Oh no does ulththerapy really not work?! I'm beginng to get jowls 😬

Frenchdressing · 11/01/2021 08:19

Coincidentally was looking at treatment for this yesterday. Was thinking of getting one of those nuface things. I already use Prai cream.

I would find a face lift too scary but a friend had fillers in marionette lines and it helped. I may go down that route. You can get Botox in necklines too.

Zofrasi · 11/01/2021 09:58

@SuperHighway thanks for answering my question. You look great for 58! Wish I had the courage to do this but I'm not sure I do. People around me would be very judgy I feel, which would ruin it for me. But I may look into something a bit more light touch.

Confusedandshaken · 11/01/2021 11:25

I've had ultherapy and a thread lift for jowls/necklace lines. They both worked but the effects are subtle not dramatic. In the case of the ultherapy it took over 9 months to show. I might do then again before I turn 60 at the end of this year. Then I'll grow old more gracefully.

LaCerbiatta · 11/01/2021 11:31

I know this doesn't really address the issue but there's a blurring function on zoom. Amazingly effective! 😉

User2921 · 11/01/2021 13:44

I'm 52 and had good results from a thread lift plus a little filler in marionette lines.
I also lost 2 stone which has made my lower face less bulky and my chin more pointy. Before losing the weight I thought the jowlyness was loose skin, but it turns out there was fat there too that had kind of pooled around my chin and jaw. I can honestly say my weight loss has made my face look loads better, not guant at all.

PllA or PDO threads.

gua sha!

honestly, it sounds like another gimmicky bullshit fad, but my chin was starting to look a bit loose, and I've started this, and it's great!

I use a facial oil, (any old shite will do) and a £3 jade gua sha stone from ebay. It isn't 'magic', but it works.

I'm 47 and you're jawline is tighter than mine. Fantastic result!
GeidiPrimes · 12/01/2021 17:36

You could try some facial yoga, loads of tutorials on YouTube.

Amazing! You look great
BlueSky2023 · 23/10/2023 15:24

i have heard you can get a Botox procedure in your neck called a nefertiti neck lift, they put Botox in the neck band muscles and under your chin along the jawline that weakens the neck muscles ( the ones that look like neck bands) so that they aren’t tight and stop pulling the face down, anyone have any experience of this?

it kind of makes sense when you think about it
