Trainers for walking? (That aren’t walking trainers.)

Any recommendations for trainers for walking, please? Not huge distances, an average of five miles a day*. I really don’t want proper walking trainers if at all possible.

Have been wearing Skechers but they don’t seem to be offering enough support and are making my ankle ache.

Thanks!

*Walking to work, before anyone calls the lockdown police.

I cured my plantar fasciitis by wearing heels every day while standing in work all day... nothing major, in summer I have Clark’s platform wedge sandals and courts and winter use the courts with Gabor boots (chunky soled lace ups) and the occasional flatter knee boots... but I try not to wear the same shoes 2 days in a row and it took a couple of years to sort

I second going to a running shop and getting your gait looked at.

Nike internationalists are my day to day trainers.

I got some brand new Allbirds tree runners from eBay. I'm in love. They are heaven. I paid £60 instead of the usual 90 something.

I signed up for eBay alerts for them in my size months ago and then snapped them up when they came on. Mine are the dark green kind. I don't even like green really but oh, so comfy.

I have problem feet - moderate bunion on one foot, mild bunion on the other foot, but narrow feet where there isn’t a bunion.

I walk for miles when I make an effort to do so, and I wear ASICS or sketchers go run. My feet never ache in either, which is something I can’t say for any other shoes, boots or trainers.

I live in fitflop trainers since lockdown. I have flat feet, ankles prone to aching and plantar fasciitis. They have heel and arch support, and are the best shoes for walking in. I find my normal trainers now hurt my feet to walk any distance in.

I second Allbirds! So soft and warm and comfy. like you have two bouncy, warm clouds wrapped around your feet.

And you can wash them and they are environmentally fabulous.
