Ok so I've heard good things. Just bought a small bottle of no3. It's bloody expensive but wouldn't be adverse to doing it again if it works. I've long hair so I reckon I'll get 2/3 treatments out of it ?
So I just apply it to wet hair in the bath, leave it for 10 mins and rinse? Am I missing anything ? Is there a better way to do it and how often do you use it ?

Yep, I've bought some too...... bloody small bottle 😱. Not tried it yet but think your correct.

teenytrees · 08/01/2021 22:24

I wet my hair, add some vitamin E oil to Olaplex no 3 and leave it on for about an hour.
Then, wash it out and use Olaplex shampoo and conditioner (4 and 5), although I'm running low on 5 and am mixing it with White Hot Hair conditioner (am growing out the dye and embracing the grey).
My hair is now swishy, shiny and healthy, but I don't know how much of that is to do with giving up bleach and dyes.

wizzywig · 08/01/2021 22:26

I must not be using enough, my little bottle is lasting ages and I have shoulder length hair

AmethystMoonShine · 08/01/2021 22:35

I’ve got shoulder length hair and I get loads more than three treatments out of a bottle!
You don’t need loads, just enough to coat the hair, I use a comb to distribute it.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 08/01/2021 22:38

What is it? Sounds complicated!

CausingChaos2 · 08/01/2021 22:40

I wet my hair, coat it overnight, then wash out in the morning. The bottle has lasted me ages.

Apparentlystillchilled · 08/01/2021 22:40

I have short peroxide hair and I use it. It's great and that's exactly right. But you need less than you think. It's great stuff.

herethereandeverywhere · 09/01/2021 00:41

I use a blob similar to shampoo size (about 50p/£2 size) on past shoulder but thin hair. I think once you feel it's on the hair it's enough, it doesn't need to be a thick coating so you can see it, like a mask.

I just get out of the shower after shampoo and towel dray and put Olaplex 3 on and leave it. Dries a bit crunchy but -hey- it's lockdown - shampoo and conditioner as usual the next day. If I had to faff around getting wet twice and hanging round for a set time I would just never use it. Is miraculously reviving my over-processed hair.

PastaAndPizzaPlease · 09/01/2021 00:46

I use a spray bottle to dampen my hair and then apply it. Leave it on for as long as possible to get the best benefits, I try to sleep in it.
You need much less than you think and unless your hair is very damaged or in poor condition, once a week is more than enough. I do once a fortnight. Store the bottle upside down to make it easier to get out
I have the shampoo and conditioner as well but now my hair is in reasonable condition I don’t use all three at the same time as it makes my hair a bit lank.
Make sure you’re also using products that add moisture to your hair - olaplex is protein but you need moisture too. The cactus stuff by Lee Stafford is great.

MrsGlitterSparklesHun · 09/01/2021 00:53

I tried this for the first time last week. I got a 250ml bottle from look fantastic with a 20% discount code so not too bad price wise. I have mid length hair and like a pp I was very surprised at how little I needed. It's not a miracle worker, but I have noticed a difference from one treatment...excited to try again tomorrow!

MarkRuffaloCrumble · 09/01/2021 01:38

I left mine on overnight the first time and have done it for a few hours at least since then. My hair has gone from black to a honey blonde over the last couple of weeks in about 4 phases. It’s in the best condition ever, feels really soft and silky thanks to the Olaplex. Magic stuff!

BendyLikeBeckham · 09/01/2021 01:41

which olaplex is for which purpose? I've used 1 and 2 when dying my hair, but never 3, 4 or 5. what is the difference?

Also I heard the Boots dupe is just as good but don't know what it is called.

youvegottenminuteslynn · 09/01/2021 01:54

I used No 3 for the first time this week, applied about a fifth of a bottle to my super thick, curly hair (I have LOADS) and left it on for about four hours. It is so, so, so soft! I'm really surprised it's made a difference so quickly especially as my hair is so curly and dry usually. I would warn you not to buy from Amazon as apparently some sellers have false product on there that has damaged their hair / scalp. I got mine from Look fantastic but I'm sure there are other places too.

youvegottenminuteslynn · 09/01/2021 01:56

Oh and I also got the oil (it was part of a duo with No 3) and it has also made a real difference. Also smells really nice. I've always used Cantu stuff and will combine the two now I think - No 3 Olaplex as a weekly treatment, Cantu shampoo and conditioner, then Olaplex oil. Oil wise use a tiny bit as it goes a very very long way.

RacheyCat · 09/01/2021 02:14

Some of you are saying you're just dampening your hair before applying, but I thought you actually had to shampoo it before application, I guess to remove any product. My bottle of number 2 says to shampoo first. It'd be a whole lot easier just to dampen, for sure.

AmethystMoonShine · 09/01/2021 07:22

With no.3 you dampen hair, apply product and leave a while. Then shampoo & condition.

MattWanksock · 09/01/2021 07:48

I think you need number 4 as well. Ideally number 7 too from hairdressers advice. Honestly, I used it and I don't think it's worth it. My hair didn't miraculously come to life as they suggested, I just got a bit softer.

A hairdresser o know is advertising monat but I think it's MLM bullshit.

I use OGX coconut miracle abs it's equally as good. Not the OGX plex. That leaves a residue in my hair.

MrDarcysMa · 09/01/2021 08:35

Wow thanks everyone.

Glad I posted as I didn't realise you had to shampoo it out after. Maybe I'll try leaving it on all day then.

I was thinking 1/3 of 100ml bottle as I use loads is conditioner. I have almost waist length tho I hair which is lightened a few shades.

I didn't buy the shampoo/ cond and am a bit skint so I'll just use mr regular I think.

OP posts:
lomojojo · 09/01/2021 08:42

You don't need 1/3 of the bottle, no. It's not a conditioner. It reforms the keratin bonds in your hair (never towel dry before olaplex - get a microfibre hair wrap and press it), to make them stronger. Once that is done, you want to wash out the carrier solution, which will have dried in a slightly crunchy way on your hair.

There's no benefit to using more than a thin thin coating.

ame88 · 09/01/2021 08:53

I've recently got extensions and my hairdresser recommended olaplex and honestly my hair has never been better (and it's bleached!) I use the number 3 and leave in for at Hearst 20 mins - I also always brush it through. I use the shampoo and conditioner and then lastly the no.7 serum!
Oh 1 other tip is to use a clarifying shampoo before olaplex shampoo - I use a Paul Mitchell one

AmethystMoonShine · 09/01/2021 09:17

I also read somewhere that it teaches its maximum effectiveness after 45 mins so no benefit to leaving on beyond that. I get good results with 10 mins if I’m pressed for time. I’ve started putting it on whilst I have a bath, that works well.

AmethystMoonShine · 09/01/2021 09:17

Reaches not teaches Blush

hMG206 · 09/01/2021 09:22

It’s true that after a certain time it’s ineffective.

It’s not a protein treatment however

I’ve used Olaplex since it was a trial salon product. I can’t really say it’s my go-to. The results start from the inside so any immediate results you think you see are a placebo effect. The best results are when it’s used alongside a salon treatment. (Every number is a diluted version of number one)

kale123 · 09/01/2021 09:23

Tell me more !!! I have permed hair which I want rid of but my hairs been the worst condition ever it's like hay

BellsaRinging · 09/01/2021 09:28

I find it great, much to my surprise. I accidentally left it on for ages by mistake the second time and the results were much better. Now I leave it on overnight and its fab.
