Every winter my lips suffer. I think partly it's some lipsticks too (Clinique with the primer seems an issue).

So far, I've tried Burts Bees (Honey), Ren, L'Occitaine, Nuxe, Lanowhatever it's called - and my lips are still dry and seem worse after using some of the above- they sting a bit after application.

I don't care if it costs £1 or £15 but I need help!

I want something I can buy online please (J Lewis) or supermarket, ideally. tinted would be good too.

Carmex original in a pot or Aquaphor.

Lightbulbs · 11/01/2021 22:25

Lansinoh nipple cream! It's like Vaseline but thicker, works a treat on chapped lips!

squishee · 19/01/2021 14:53

In the end, on the back of this thread and a similar one, I went for nipple balm. Utterly brilliant, unflavoured of course, long-lasting and thick enough to apply straight from the tube (no fingers required).
For those in Germany, it's Mamas Babydream, EUR1.49 in Rossmann!

Another vote for original carmex in the pot! Carmex in the tube, or scented/flavoured doesn't work at all, but the original in the pot is amazing - I have about 5 on the go in various bags/bed side table/desk etc and apply whenever I remember to.
It was also the only thing that helped when I was on roaccutane 5 years ago, had to apply every 20 mins or so and heaven help me if I hadn't taken it to work

I got some No 7 stuff in the advent calendar. It's more like a cream and is quite good - I'm considering buying some.

Blistex Med Plus is good

Plussizejumpsuit · 19/01/2021 19:21

I like Dr paw paw

Vaseline Rosy lips. About £2. I put it on before I leave the house, which seems to protect my lips from the elements.

I also love lanolips (the tinted ones) again they offer protection from the elements and last longer than Vaseline. I like lanolips in the summer as they have spf.

I think when your lips have healed a bit, it is probably a good idea to protect your lips, Vaseline, 8 hour cream, lanolips and nipple cream type products will do this for you.

Blistex medplus (in the blue pot). Far better than the tubes, and superior to lots of those mentioned in this thread which I’ve tried. It’s the only one which prevents my lips from ever feeling chapped. I tried carmex recently as saw it recommended on another thread and couldn’t get hold of the blistex, but I now have peeling and sore lips. Have just ordered some blistex from amazon!

Waitrose have this on offer at the moment. It's lovely, really creamy and stays on for ages.

Inspired by this thread I dug out my lansinoh nipple cream and have promptly given myself swollen lips Blush turns out despite being fine on nipples my face does not like it!

Egghead68 · 26/02/2021 20:31

Carmex

Shesaysso · 26/02/2021 20:31

Blistex is by far the best thing I’ve ever used.

AuntieStella · 26/02/2021 20:41

Vaseline

(8 hour cream is essentially Vaseline with some additives)

Kamilosan (a nipple cream, best seller around the turn of the millennium) was even better, but I don't think they make it any more

littlepeas · 26/02/2021 21:11

Nuxe in a pot (bathroom) or the white l’occitane lipsyl type stick (handbag).

I loved the old cherry lipsyl - I was so sad when it disappeared.

FreshFaceTime · 27/02/2021 08:04

I use the nipple cream for a few nights if I've been lax and they've got really sore/dry and split and then probably the palmers cocoa butter one is one of my faves for maintaining them once they're healed. I also apply the weleda skin food to my lips on the nights I'm using it and it's great. Always use a layer of lip balm before applying lipstick too and that's usually a cheapy one with spf30 (can't remember the name of it, tropical something or other)

kirkandpetal · 27/02/2021 09:48

I really rate the EOS lip balms (in a sphere shape) - usually quite pricey but I've found them in Home Bargains 's for £2. Got some for DDs stocking at Christmas.

CSIblonde · 27/02/2021 10:56

Vaseline aloe vera lip therapy, £1.50 a tin.
Maybelline Baby Lips tinted balms £2.98 Naff cartoon packaging but they've just bought out Babylips Crayons which are plain & sound the same so I've just bought those too.

Lovingspring · 27/02/2021 11:00

Avene do a lovely one.
