Every winter my lips suffer. I think partly it's some lipsticks too (Clinique with the primer seems an issue).

So far, I've tried Burts Bees (Honey), Ren, L'Occitaine, Nuxe, Lanowhatever it's called - and my lips are still dry and seem worse after using some of the above- they sting a bit after application.

I don't care if it costs £1 or £15 but I need help!

I want something I can buy online please (J Lewis) or supermarket, ideally. tinted would be good too.

Lanisoh nipple cream, best thing ever!

WednesdayAllTheWay · 06/01/2021 20:06

@RealisticSketch

Palmer's cocoa butter lip balm. Available in many places, including supermarkets, not sticky, fast relief, lasts well in the stick and on the lips. Best ever and I've sampled many.
This is my go to also.
LadyOfTheCanyon · 06/01/2021 20:07

Blistex Relief cream. It has ( or had, haven't needed to buy any for a couple of years as I have a stash) quite a high % of Phenol and camphor in it which are pretty hard hitters.

Other than that - OKeefes and Lanolips are the only lip balms that have left my lips better than when I started using them. Paw Paw ointment was worse than useless on me.

Lip balm threads pop up every couple of months and all I've learned from them is that no one thing works for everyone. I use a thick layer of Blistex at night and then OKeefes during the day if I need it, though I've found a lip oil works better.

I love Egyptian magic cream its my go to for my lips and for just about everything, they do a mini pot which is perfect for handbags.

RickiTarr · 06/01/2021 20:09

Burts Bees Overnight Intensive Lip Treatment. In a little pot not a tube. I use it as my standard lip salve and it’s the best I’ve found.

iwantedtobenamedTalie · 06/01/2021 20:14

Eve Lom - Kiss mix, is my fav. £16 but it works for me Smile

Kndg · 06/01/2021 20:20

I don't know if any PP have suggested it but Melrose stick is the best ever. I used to suffer terribly with cracked lips, especially in the corners which would sometimes get infected. Melrose was the only balm that helped, and I haven't had problems since.
Cheap as chips on Amazon.

If you can't get hold of that, Aquaphor or Mustela are good but definitely try melrose.

DrMaryMalone · 06/01/2021 20:31

Tender Care Balm by Oriflame. I’m building up a little collection of all the different flavours and the only one I’ve not been keen on so far is the rose one.

After that Lasinoh nipple cream!

tsmainsqueeze · 06/01/2021 20:44

Espa is lovely and lasts ages, probably my favourite ,I've tried loads of brands , i bought a nuxe one last year really weird texture , not very nice .
I have never tried it but have heard good things about dr paw paw ,i intend to try that when i next see it in home bargains , this comes in tinted too .

Chippychipcrisps · 06/01/2021 21:02

Fresh Sugar Advanced Therapy or eve lom kiss mix.

I can't use Carmex or kiehls for more than a few days as it makes my lips sore and crusty for some reason (great when first applied though).

NotMeNoNo · 06/01/2021 21:11

I had to throw away all my lip balms due to increased allergic reactions, all the lovely ones, Elizabeth Arden, cicaplast, BB. I've gone back to single ingredient blue tin vaseline and it's eventually cleared up. I think it's possible to become sensitised to the ingredients.

BaronessVonCake · 06/01/2021 21:18

I've tried all sorts and found the best to be Carmex in the pot and Blisteeze in the tube.

PainterInPeril · 06/01/2021 21:24

DiamondCosmetix.com
Aleece makes all her lip oils and lip glosses by hand. They have the minimum of ingredients and it's mostly oils so your lips feel really buttery. Very reasonably priced too. Smile

DM1209 · 06/01/2021 21:28

Carmex in a pot, every single time.

Oblomov20 · 06/01/2021 21:32

I often wonder how I can stop needing lip balm.

Strongbeatsskinny · 06/01/2021 21:39

Burts bees overnight one in the pot not the stick one

Rinkytinkpanther · 06/01/2021 21:40

O Keefes Smile
I've tried most and I think this is the best.

missmouse101 · 06/01/2021 21:42

Aloe lips by Forever Living, available on Amazon. It is absolutely brilliant.

Ginfizz2 · 06/01/2021 21:43

I stick with Vaseline, you can get the little round tins snd they do a tinted one I think. I’ve got a palmers one at work but I find it drys my lips out more.

17CherryTreeLane · 06/01/2021 21:44

Another vote for carmex

TheChosenTwo · 06/01/2021 21:51

My dds and I all love the glossier balmdotcom lip balms. They have lanolin in and really last for ages. I get quite dry crusty lips sometimes and this really helps nourish them.
I think I pay around £25 for 3 tubes in a bundle.
Also always have a tube of dr lipps nibble balm knocking about in my car!

Springfern · 06/01/2021 21:54

Lip balm threads pop up every couple of months and all I've learned from them is that no one thing works for everyone

I agree with this...with the exception of bepanthan nappy rash cream (yes as a lip balm) which works for everyone

Ffsffsffsffsffs · 06/01/2021 22:04

One of the best pieces of advice I was ever given by my midwife was that dry lips are a really clear sign of dehydration (summer 2003 baby) and I needed to massively increase my liquid intake. Especially in winter with the heating on - and booze, and tea and coffee actually dehydrate you more.

Pay a fortune for lotions and balms by all means, but really think about your water/juice intake as well x

merryhouse · 06/01/2021 22:08

Since you're asking I'm presuming you've tried Vaseline and are one of those people who finds it doesn't work?

I bought a pot in 1985 and have used it daily since (not the same pot - they don't last more than a few years Grin)
