Best soft, quality black opaque tights?

WhoEatsPopTarts · 04/01/2021 13:02

I’d like some comfortable, soft good quality black opaque tights, maybe bamboo or feels as soft as bamboo. I bought Primark tights for years when my daughters were at school and they’re fine but I’d like some that feel a bit nicer. I know there’s Snag, but are they soft.? Any suggestions?

I buy M&S Autograph velvet touch 100 denier tights. They're lovely and soft. I've got some that are quite old now, with no snags or ladders.

Snag tights are amazing. They are soft, super stretchy, wash well and don't wrinkle. They are easy to put on without having to the Tights Dance around the room. I swear by them and won't use any other brand now. I have black opaques in both 80 denier and 120 denier and several colours too.

I've been a devoted Wolford wearer for 30-odd years. I've tried other brands but nothing comes anywhere near for quality. Soft, comfortable, properly opaque and very hard-wearing.

Snag tights are amazing.
I hated wearing tights until I discovered them and now about half my wardrobe is skirts and dresses. I love them so much.
But watch out they are addictive.

VienneseWhirligig · 04/01/2021 14:57

I love Snags too. They are so durable and you can even repair them if necessary - I caught a pair on a sticking out screw last year, sewed them up and they have been fine ever since.

Starlitexpress · 04/01/2021 15:07

Do the Snag tights come up small or large as I am 14-16 and I see they do 12-14 and 16-18, so right in the middle !!

StarlightLady · 04/01/2021 17:19

M&S Autograph Seam Free are ever so soft, have a cotton gusset and, as the name implies, no nasty seams.

NoNeedToArgue · 04/01/2021 18:15

@Starlitexpress I am roughly the same size as you, and wear Snag size D. They are perfect.

Squiffany · 04/01/2021 18:19

Snag tights.

I have lots.

ThundercloudYouBastard · 04/01/2021 18:30

Yes, snag tights are very nice and soft. I don't wear anything else! Although, I also like M&S. I bought a whole load of Snags last year anticipating needing them for winter and then found I wore nothing but jeans and joggers all winter Xmas Sad

TornadoOfSouls · 04/01/2021 18:31

I might have to try Snags.

M&S 100 denier in the two pack are good and last ages.

WhoEatsPopTarts · 04/01/2021 20:51

Well that’s pretty clear then 😁. Off to buy some Snags, thank you everyone.

Manzi The Tights Amazon

Haffiana · 05/01/2021 00:10

Yep, Manzi from Amazon. Excellent quality. Do a test against a Snag pair - Manzi won hands down for me.

I read somewhere that softness in tights and stockings comes from the way the yarn is wound into threads. The cheap stuff feels like dense fishing line, and will be rough, hard and scratchy no matter what denier it is made into.

bendmeoverbackwards · 05/01/2021 09:51

Are Snag tights matt? I hate shiny tights

ThundercloudYouBastard · 05/01/2021 09:58

Yes, I think Snag tights are matte.

Egghead68 · 05/01/2021 09:59

Another one for M&S Velvet touch. Soft and matte.

MissBattleaxe · 07/01/2021 23:29

Yes snag are matte. I also like that they use paper packaging and no cellophane or plastic rubbish.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 08/01/2021 10:25

I didn't rate the Snag tights I bought, and found them shiny and easily snagged (ha). That was in 2019 so maybe they have upped their game.

My faves are either Falke - very ££, but genuinely last forever - or Gipsy.
