Best Lip Balm/Treatment

I have really dry lips, partly due to not drinking enough which I am trying to work on. I have used and not been impressed with EOS and Vaseline. Longtime favourite is Neutrogena Norwegian Formula. What lip balms/treatments are best for very very chapped lips?

Lansinoh nipple cream or anything else with lanolin in it works wonders

FestiveFannyGallops · 29/12/2020 20:37

Nivea care and protect is my favourite. The white tube I think. Or is it soothe and protect... great stuff anyway.

Lamentations · 29/12/2020 20:40

The Nuxe one in a pot is the most intense one I've found.

FlyingByTheSeatof · 29/12/2020 20:40

I use a lot of different lip balms. I like burts bees a lot.

However I had really dry lips recently from being dehydrated and my lis were very flaky and after not much success with all my other lip balms I tried Boots No 7 protect and perfect lip care from their advent calender this year and by the end of the day they were lovely and soft. I am also now drinking more water again.

Second lasionoh. You can mix it with a bit of Vaseline in a tin too. Nothing comes close to lanolin.

MawkishHawk · 29/12/2020 20:44

Nuxe rêve de miel. It’s AMAZING. Proper holy grail.

This one. I walk miles in the wind and cold and this is great. If I forget and they do get chopped then this normally fixes them in one application.

Blistex lip relief cream. But I am an absolute lip balm addict and wish like hell I'd never started using the damn stuff. If I go for longer than a couple of hours without applying it now my lips start feeling tight. I don't know how to stop. Should say I don't use the blistex regularly, but have found it very good if my lips are chapped. Usually I use avene cold cream for lips, or 8 hour cream.

FlyingByTheSeatof · 29/12/2020 20:55

All my different lip balms are from various beauty boxes or Advent calenders over the years so I've tried a huge variety.

The most exensive and best lip care actually imho which costs a ridiculous amount of £££ is By Terry - Baume de Rose. I would never recommend it due to the price but it is flawless lip care and a gorgeous long lasting texture but I feel uncomfortable applying it too often due to the £££ but it has got rid of persisent flaky lips in the same way as the No 7 lip care.

Dr Lipp Original Nipple Balm- it’s brilliant, can be quite sticky when applying though as it’s quite thick. It’s fine when it’s on

moiraswigs · 29/12/2020 21:12

I used to love nuxe but I think it's changed it's formula and the latest one I've got isn't as good. O'Keefes is good (and not expensive).

inevitablytired · 29/12/2020 21:27

I've struggled with chapped lips all my life and tried (and been given by well meaning people) a massive variety of lipbalms. The only one that I vouch by now is lanolips, keep your lips so great after only a couple of days and smell nice too.

DelphineWalsh · 29/12/2020 22:11

Lanisoh or any other lanolin based nipple cream. Started using it this winter and I cannot tell you the improvement after years of horrible cracked lips every winter. I won't be without it now.

Inaquandry19 · 30/12/2020 08:54

Body shop vitamin e one is brilliant.

SummaLuvin · 30/12/2020 09:45

Wow, thank you all for the advice. Definitely sounds like Nuxe and Lasionoh are the ones to start with, haven't tried either!

O Keefes Smile

GrapeLipBalm · 30/12/2020 09:50

Burts bees honey one

GrapeLipBalm · 30/12/2020 10:06

The le petit marseillais yellow tube is nice

GrapeLipBalm · 30/12/2020 10:07

Also the Great British bee co Beehive balm in cherry

starsareblazing · 30/12/2020 10:11

Lucas pawpaw is my go to, it’s amazing! I had cracked lips for years, especially over the winter, and tried insane amounts of formulas until I found this one!

partyatthepalace · 30/12/2020 10:39

I have the world’s worst dry lips / lifelong problem.

Clinique superbalm for night and first thing in AM

And then the Clarins one (light blue, hydrating) for day

So you have dryness and dehydration covered.

Sorry they are much more expensive than high street but they are what works for me.

partyatthepalace · 30/12/2020 10:41

.... saying that I am going to try O’Keefes having read this thread, because their body lotion is great. I will be delighted if that’s a money saver!

Whatisgoingonhere · 30/12/2020 10:49

I have always had terribly dry lips and gave tried many of the above, to no avail. I found an amazing one (discontinued, so I won’t even bother) but the next best is Laneige sleep mask, a Korean lip treatment. Dollop on at night at bed time and through out the day, problem solved!! My lips have never felt better!

Snackz · 30/12/2020 10:54

@partyatthepalace Honestly, O Keefes is fantastic. I initially bought their hand cream as my hands were so dry that they were cracking and bleeding which was very painful! I wasn't hoping for much as no other hand cream helped but within a day, my hands were back to normal Smile

Same with their lip balm.

Strongbeatsskinny · 30/12/2020 11:08

I tried the Nuxe one and didn’t rate it at all as it felt very drying on my lips. The Burts bees overnight balm was far more moisturising when applied. A lot of people on here also say la mer is good which is true although pricey.
