Anyone else find Vejas really uncomfortable?

DP bought me a pair of Vejas for Christmas and I absolutely love them but they’re so bloody painful!
His seem to be a lot softer but the pair I have have a really hard/sharp tongue that comes quite far up my foot and cuts into my skin. The only way to wear them would be to wear ankle socks which I’d obviously rather not do!
Are all the women’s styles like this?

It seems to be a common complaint. I didn't buy them after reading similar reviews. I wonder could a shoe repair place shorten the tongue.

Ellapaella · 29/12/2020 20:23

I have the Campo's and they suit my very wide feet and high instep perfectly. The only brand of trainer other than Nike that I can wear. I've never had any discomfort from mine at all.

Shadow1986 · 29/12/2020 20:25

Yes this is a common complaint, I’ve read about it before. Could you fold the tongue down or tuck it in so it doesn’t rub?

grapefruitish · 29/12/2020 20:26

Spray them with leather stretcher and wear them indoors with thick socks until they soften.

I did not buy them because I found them too uncomfortable.

Cherrypie32 · 29/12/2020 20:54

Yep. Same with Air & Grace. Not all that.

Stickybbqwings · 29/12/2020 21:50

Ahh that’s such a shame as they look so nice but I literally can’t take more than a few steps in them. Good to know it’s not just me being pathetic!

I’ve got two pairs. Both were flipping difficult to wear in. That long tongue is a nightmare. Basically I toughed it out with plasters until they’d softened up.

shallbe · 29/12/2020 22:31

The link is broken, what kind did you get? I've ordered the Campos, I do find though that most footwear I buy including trainers need breaking in before they're comfortable!

TheWashingMachine · 29/12/2020 22:34

Esska are really comfy and soft if you have narrow feet. I have the black Nanos.

Fastforwardtospring · 29/12/2020 22:35

Love mine, tongue is a bit long but it soon softened up, much better than the Superga’s they replaced, now they were uncomfortable.

Stickybbqwings · 29/12/2020 22:37

It’s the Campos. I’d love to persevere and try to wear them in but I’ve been scarred by my AF1s. They made my feet bleed so much wearing them in and years later they’re still not particularly comfortable!

You see I’ve always found canvas Supergas to be really comfortable.

ShivD · 29/12/2020 22:50

I had the same issues with the V10s

AmandaHoldensLips · 29/12/2020 22:55

Bollocks. I have a pair arriving tomorrow - my christmas present from me to me. I've been really looking forward to them. Now I'm scared.

Charlieandlola · 29/12/2020 22:59

Superga are Super comfortable imho. Unlike Vejas.

Rollergirl11 · 29/12/2020 22:59

I’ve got the Campo’s. I find that the tongue tends to slip sideways but other than that I find them pretty comfortable and the tongue doesn’t come up higher than my trainer socks.

strawbmilk · 29/12/2020 23:00

They come up large on sizing. I'm normally a 6 but was walking out of the 6's then the 5's were so tight I couldn't walk in. Like I couldn't take 3 steps. So I returned them. So disappointed & went back to Nike.

Sleepthief · 29/12/2020 23:11

I've never bought a pair mainly because everyone I know who has them says they're such a nightmare to break in and, quite frankly, life is too short for that!

MagicMatilda · 29/12/2020 23:25

Yes, they kill my feet! I’ve tried a couple of pairs...need to let go, the pain isn’t worth it haha

TuxedoPantherSheHer · 29/12/2020 23:44

I can’t wear them

Plonque · 30/12/2020 00:20

I tried vejas on in the shop and knew straight away they would not be comfortable, they felt awkward and hard.
I've also found converse to be terrible - way too narrow and hard under foot.
Superga were awful, just plain uncomfortable.
Vans old skool lace ups were tight and narrow but persevered and they became acceptable for short wears but never brilliant.

I really want some casual trainer-ish flats for every day that aren't full trainers but I'm coming up blank.
I've spent a fortune!

Fluffyandsilly · 30/12/2020 00:25

This is quite weird. I have a pair of Campos and they are my most comfortable trainers!
I have trouble with a lot of other trainers rubbing my heels and needing to be worn in.
I guess they must suit the shape of my feet, which are verging on wide with a slightly higher instep than usual.

kirkandpetal · 30/12/2020 04:34

I've always fancied a pair but won't bother now. Seems like more hassle than it's worth, esp at that price!

Countmeout · 30/12/2020 05:14

I found them comfortable from the getgo but I knew they could be uncomfortable from reading online, so I folded the tongue before I started wearing them and that’s worked for me. They’re V-10’s. I had been wearing a very soft trainer and although they feel firmer definitely not uncomfortable. I have slim feet. Usual size fine.
